It's my pleasure
Gawd, I saw Vassar at least a half dozen times in the mid to late 70s, but other than youtube clips hadn't seen him since. This is soooo good...
I'm so glad to have captured it. It was the final time I got to see him. 😊
I'm pleased that there are others like yourself who can appreciate the historical value of this show with it's direct lineage to Bill Monroe.
VASSAR college, man. If I ever got to play next to him, I think I would have retired the next day.
He was a sweet and gracious man.
I was just about to comment on Vassar! Got his autograph Loved that man! If he don't make you smile NOTHING WILL!
😎😍🤣
Delightful stuff, Jim... thanks for sharing
Thank you. This has held up nicely over the years. I was lucky to be able to preserve it. I've recorded many shows but this was my first. I later had to manually dub the audio on the fly from a reel to reel master since this was before digital. I'm glad it turned out as well as it did.
Vassar Clements is my favorite of all the fiddlers/violinists I've seen, and I've seen many. He played with such verve! The last time I saw him was on 2/7/04 in Chapel Hill. To the best of my memory, his band played the entire Old & In The Way album, or at least most of it. Wonderful to see him here.
Totally agree. He was a gem and king of the fiddle. But, that said, Benny Martin was really good!
Thank you for following my page , Support you showered on me, I hope you never stop listening to my music🙏❤️
The Kisimee Kid. Another great Florida musician.
Thank God for the internet!! Are we lucky, or what?
pow'rful stuff... thanks for sharing, Jim
Thank you. I felt privileged to be there.

Great video. Red, Vassar, Del and Rob are all fellas that I look up to when I play! I’ve seen them all cept Vassar. If you haven’t been to Cumberland Maryland for delfest yet, you gotta go! All the best players
Beast of a lineup. Good fun. 👍💚👽
The Lonesome Fiddle Blues with Annie Edwards is awesome!!!!!
Wow!
Vassar!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My goodness.
Maybe when Peter Rowan dies he'll get the fame and recognition he deserves.
Its true. I didn't realize at first what a talent he is. But I sure do now!
He always has in my book seen him dozens of times same with Vassar. Got both there autographs. reggae-billy was amazing live when Peter came out with it. Thank you Peter!
Sacred.🌏🌎🌍🎼🎶💚💛🌶️
I knew it while taping it. ❤
Well this is cool as fuck
Yes it was 😊
Didn’t see Ronnie back there love him too!
Ronnie wasn't there that night. Billy and Brit Bright (mando & bass respectively) played with Peter that tour.
Thank you! Kinda resembles him in my opinion but I got a good look now. Never heard of them gotta check ‘em out
This is great. Thanks for sharing. Love it. Does Del show up later? I’m 17 in and see a lot of Rob McCoury but no Del yet
Yes
Just wait for it
If you like Dell go to Sirius XM "Bluegrass Junction" channel 62. He's got his own show! Its very good.....with interesting stories about his long years of playing and a good variety of music that Del and his boys select.
@@emiller9426 I love that show too

My favorite Rowen song. Really Love that song!
That's Robbie McCoury on banjo, not Del!
Del shows up with his Martin.
I think Vassar smoked too much
With the Byrds
You mean dropped acid with Jerry. :-)
No such thing.
Well it shore didn't hurt his music none!
I know, but,
🎶Vassar once said, "The wife and kids are just a front"🔥💯%
😎
VASSAR COULD PLAY ANY WAY , ANY STYLE , HE CHOSE TO . BUT HE LIKED TO GET " LOST " FOR THE ENTIRE MIDDLE OF HIS BREAKS , AND ONLY GET BACK TO THE ACTUAL MELODY AT THE VERY END .THAT IS NOT HOW HE PLAYED IT AS A BlUEGRASS BOY . MONROE WOULD NEVER STAND FOR IT , AND NEITHER DOES DEL IN HIS BAND . IT IS TOO DISRUPTIVE TO A TUNE
