This conversation was part of the 2023 New Orleans Book Festival at Tulane University. The New Orleans Book Festival brings the world’s leading authors to Tulane University for a multi-day celebration of their works. The Festival features both fiction and non-fiction and convenes readings, panel discussions, symposia and keynote speeches. It provides an opportunity for outlets, authors and readers to interact with each other in one of the most vibrant and culturally diverse cities in the world.

I get that Kara is angry with Elon, but interrupting Walter every 2 minutes to interject her opinion is just annoying and rude……
She is bitter and boring
I've not been a fan of many of her interviews. She made a GREAT tandem with Walt Mossberg. But not so much anymore. But I liked what she did here. She really asked the tough questions. Usually these things are the interviewer letting the writer regurgitate stories form their book. See David Rubensteins interview with Isaacson. Rubenstein literally sat their and fed him softball questions so he could retell book stories.

Isaacson did a great job of civilly answering her in spite of her many rude interruptions, and constant attempts to belittle Elon‘s character. What a biased ax grinder she was! Understandably, Walter looked uncomfortable the whole time he was sitting there. Kudos to him for not letting her nonsense prevail!

I’ve not seen her interview anyone, and my first impression is that she is rude and has an annoying manner. Walter I have seen, and he is a gentleman, polite and deferential to his interviewer. I wouldn’t want to be Walter right now.
Sorry, I like Kara’s interview style with these men. I would think they don’t take her personally like how most commenters seem to. Lots of depth in a short time.

Kara Swisher is a fantastically annoying idealogue. As Walter told you, you're a commentator not a player in the arena.
Why didn't she read the book?
It's interesting that Kara fancies herself such an expert on tech people, yet when it comes to writing their biographies, these giants go to Walter. She is negative, snarky and reliant on the quick retort while he is gentle on the ear, thoughtful and careful to consider many factors at once before answering. I also see why they would allow Walter to live with them.
Refreshing to see a journalist actually do her job. Take no Bullshit attitude is refreshing.
What planet calls this journalism? She’s insufferable. It was all about her when it should be the opposite.
Walter is the GOAT, Kara is annoying, rude, unprofessional and is the reason why journalism is dead.

I like Kara, but she was outclassed here in every way. She's attacking left and right and Isaacson gave her well thought out patient answers.
This woman should think a bit more about what she says and how she says it on major public television.

I'm not her biggest fan ... but I kind of liked how she kept pushing back on Elon's bizzare side. This type of interview is usually the interviewer letting the writer tell stories from their book. Listen to David Rubenstein's interview of Issacson ... it was so soft ball ... without drawing zero insights ... total blah. At least this was interesting.

This is nearly impossible to watch. Why? Swisher is sitting there telling Isaacson SHE knows Elon better than him. Isaacson just spent TWO YEARS with Elon in every area of Elon's life. Swisher is obnoxious and I always am AMAZED she has anyone who wants to hear what she has to say. Go Home Ms Seisher, please. She is jealous of what Elon has achieved so she has this overt mean to bash him. So sad.

Kara is just a narcissist, she can’t fantom the fact that she’s not the one getting the praise for writing this book. You wonder why Elon cut her off is because of that, see how rude she was to Walter, she thinks she knows all of these people and that she knows better than everyone as well as Walter, interrupting him and all that like girl calm down, the fact that you interview these people doesn’t put you on the same level as them.
Why this woman still have an audience is beyond me.
