I believe the main difference is that she had so much ambition and passion for her art back then (The Fame through BTW eras), you could just feel it when she spoke or performed. She's been in the music industry for well over a decade now, so it's probably not as thrilling for her anymore. I agree with the sentiment that she'd somewhat lost her drive around the time ARTPOP went up in flames, with singles being cancelled, her management tapping out, multiple related projects never seeing the light of day, etc.
