2nd post for me....Seen alot of "pedal demos". You are by far the best. Pedal makers should pay you to demo and present their pedals. This demo was so helpful, detailed, thorough, and concise. I will be buying this pedal because of your demonstration.
Thank you sir for the great video on the Boss VE-500!!!! Hands down the best one I've seen so far. Boss should be paying you or give you equipment for your fantastic work. I hope you will continue posting your take on this unit. Thank you again for all you do. Take care and may God bless.... 🙏✝🙏
Love that you go 0-100 and then dial it in to what is reasonable or usable. Too many demos I just see everything turned way up to try and show off what it can do but it just ends up a mess.
THANKS , THANKS MUCH FINALLY I FOUND YOUR EXPLANATION BY DEMONSTRATING THE SINGING ,I BEEN HOURS LOOKING FOR THIS INFORMATION THAT ONLY YOU HAVE THANKS GOD BLESS YOU ALL THERE
F✨A✨N✨T✨A✨S✨T✨I✨C✨ great video man. 👌🏻 You sing well and a very comprehensive look at this Boss FX machine. New Subscriber here 🤝🏻 Cheers iSPIKE (Western Australia 🇦🇺) 👍🏻
Thanks for the clear demo. Would really like to see chained effects, like enhance > pitch correction > distortion > delay > reverb, to see if this pedal can replace a dedicated vocal fx board.
I haven’t watched the whole video yet but I’ve been looking for a full run down of this bad boy since I bought it a year ago. I get great use out of it but I’m trying to tween a few things that are perfect for my voice and microphone. Wish you were using an RE20 on this.
Thanks for the video! It would have been nice to be able to use all the signal processes separate for the harmonies so you could have one set for the main vocal and the harmonies effected differently.
wpnderful review thanks! ! good that you have some cameras and displays to show things!! one thing I still need to check what is capable to record and in which quality to DAW!
I've just bought a VE500, by mistake as I expected it 2b better than my old VE20. It isn't! Wondering if the Helicon is better as I use backing tracks without guitar or keyboard.
Do you have a recommendation for a machine with the best (or good) vocal effects with looping capabilities? Looping for long periods of time- not just 45 seconds- a minute or two?
Will this model pick up the key of your vocals without using a guitar or instrument? The VV-20 does that but doesn't have as many features... I am singer that plays guitar sometimes...
Hi Chris, really helpful stuff, thanks! I have a harmoniser issue I can't understand: when I'm playing in an open tuning (actually Csus2, where there are often open top C and D strings), the VE-500's harmonies aren't right. Is there anything I can do to address this?
Hi Chris and anyone else who might be helped by this: always put the vocal harmoniser at the beginning of your effects chain (mine was going through my digital pedalboard) or the pedal doesn't pick up the guitar key correctly :-)
What a great video Chris! Thank you. I just ordered this unit. I don't play guitar live though, can I still utilize the harmony aspect? I appreciate your input!
You can turn the auto mode off and set the song key manually. So you don’t necessarily have to have an instrument running through it to use the harmonies.
Does this pick up room sounds in order to select the correct key if you dont plug a guitar into it ? and can you come out of the XLR outputs in Mono? Both of he these features are on the TC Helicon Live play units and I was wondering if this does the same .
Yes you can I have a much older version and it does you can edit reverb delay harmonies etc and save it to your users bank I been using it for more than 10 years
Hi , i just got this pedal but i'm quite lost as i thought would be just conect my guitar and microphone to the pedal and connect the pedal to my guitar amplifier and ready to go . But i believe now doesn't work that simple !😔 Been looking for video that could explain step by step how to setup this pedal in vocal , guitar and amplifier scenario but can't find any ! I would like to ask you if you could help me how to set up , as i have the Marshall avt150h amplifier and the Marshall , as80r , dynamic microphone and guitar
I actually want to hear how it sounds with progressive harmonies or jazz harmonies. Your demo is good but they're all very basic harmonies. How about trying some jazzy chords and advance open chords? Thanks.
If you’re curious about setting specific harmonies with it (i.e. 4ths or 6ths for example), you can set a harmony to a specific voicing once you specify the key of the song, and take the “Key button” off of Full Auto mode. I’ve been using it for a few years now and I don’t think I’ll ever need any other vocal pedal for live or in studio. It’s incredibly versatile but it does take some time to really dive into it
Over exaggerated of course so you can hear the FX well, but adding EQ, comp, limit, gate, verb, delay, and even doubler, soft pitch correction if you arent a real singer (im not a real singer) even the vocoder. All very useful in almost any situation. Its a shame its only 1 mic, I have to buy one for each mic! Boss is still the Boss…
Hi Simon, I’m thinking of buying one of these, I’ll be using it on stage in a very loud band so would 100% need a gate, you’re the only person anywhere that has mentioned it has a gate. Is it any good?
@@darrenkaskie2648 I havent bought it yet, my next planned purchase, still paying off my 335. Im sure its perfectly fine industry standard though, its a Boss.
Hi. Can someone please tell me if this will run on batteries, or only the adapter cord. Very grateful if someone can clarify this. Great video...thanks.
Thanks Chris for this nice little video ! I'm interested to buy this pedal. I'm a vocalist/guitarist and I need to be able to switch from an effect to another one while playing live. So I'd use my foot to switch effects, and I'd like to program for example a compression on one pedal and a chorus on another one, or a reverb or whatever. Without being forced to turn the buttons and set everything with my hands. From your experience, is that doable ? Cheers man !
This device has just effects for your voice, not for your guitar, so no. If you have other pedals with midi out, you could program it, to activating an other effect on another Pedalboard
With the low pitch you need to say “come on Barbie, let’s go party” or better yet “I talk-talk I talk to you In the night In your dreams Of love so true 💕 “ haha
Just played around with this for the first time tonight and I just noticed when I dial in the formant effect---it's very faulty, my direct signal/voice comes in and out frequently and it interrupts the effect. Have you noticed this?

Can you have multiple effects at once on a user setting eg delay reverb and a touch of distortion with a slight chorus all at the same time? Great vid!
@@tizianbreitenberger I’ve looked at the manual pdf. To my knowledge and going over it and watching other vids it looks like you can have up to 9 effects at once. Another cool thing is that you can use it as a guitar tuner too and link it in with your pedal board, may need to triple check with what I’ve said as for example I haven’t figured out if it will only work with your pedal board if you have the auto tune with your guitar feature switched on or if you can bypass that feature but link it it anyway for ease (I mean if you get rid of your tuner to save space that could be a plus depending on how easy it is to see the tuner feature in darkly lit venues or most likely a more problematic scenario venues with lots of lights or outside with shit loads of sunlight coming down at a festival gig). I guess for speech (in the first 5 minutes) there are too many articulations and our ears much more discriminating for the spoken words. Anyways, I'm sold. It's a real performer.
