After riding Boulderdash last week, Alex Petitdemange and I were in the mood for some speed and flow. Red Mountain Rush is probably the most ridden and well loved descent at Hawes. It is hard to beat if you enjoy turning your bicycle and a faster overall pace. While the jank will always have a special place in my heart, RMR is pretty hard to beat. We filmed this right after some rain and despite the wind trying to crash us the entire time, conditions were about as good as they get. Epitome of flow. They need to throw some rocks on the trail. Lol. There seems quite the variety at Hawes. That is special. I may go to Hawes and make Sedona my secondary visit. Totally impressed w the trail work.
I forgot the name but if you end rmr and turn hard left it takes you half way up and has a more technical decent but the camera is also hiding how rough the trail is, there’s big breaking bumps everywhere.
They make it look easier than it is!
There's a double-back trail that forks off Red Mountain Rush (at the top to the left) called Sunset Ridge. Almost every rock is intentionally placed to mess you up... I went down with a group of six great riders and Sunset Ridge made all of us never want to ride it again.
I love this place! Looks like you got a little rain, otherwise that surface is antigrip and makes it’s even more high consequence. Super fun!

I love how you can ride the desert trails just an hour or so after it rains without damaging them. I dont know how riders in other parts of the country put up with the weather and soil constraints.
The DG does amazingly well with the moisture.

Just visited Hawes and rode RMR for the 1st time a few weeks ago. You guys killed it. Boulderdash wasn't open yet. Such a great system. Need to get back down there.

Rode at Hawes in January. It’s great! Contrast to home trails in MA. RMR at a fraction of your pace. Great to relive it and see how it can be done…
Wow that is some seriously fast flow for a desert trail built on kitty litter. The trail builders at Buff Creek and Curt Gowdy could learn a thing or two from Hawes.

Sometimes we know the track but sometimes we are on our first lap, it just depends. We have a bunch of laps on this one.
