    Thank you for taking time to showing us (regular driver) how to change filters on the truck **, This will help us out by not standing in line for hours at the truck stop waiting hours at which take less that 15-30 minutes if done correctly!! Be honest with you this the first time I ever look at a video *** Keep up the good work!!!! GOD BLESS

    Shouldn't reuse the fuel drained from the unit. It's a fuel/water processor. Majority of that first cup will be water depending on how often the water is drained and fuel quality that has been used. Besides, you just installed a new filter.

  • @kingjames8283
    @kingjames8283 Před 6 lety +2

    My Fuel-Pro 382 used both of those larger gaskets. Thicker one for the top clear bowl, and the second thinner seal for the bottom plate. My Fuel-Pro 382 developed a crack in the bottom plate and the truck parts wanted almost $700 to replace with brand new one which I couldn't afford. So I removed it from truck and converted to spin-on fuel filter assembly. Now as for refilling new filters both the Fuel-Pro 382 and spin-on filters of all types, I only use transmission fluid and nothing else. The thicker transmission fluid pulls diesel fuel from tanks faster and cleans fuel injectors and combustion parts of engine in one step. I learned that from a large mobile lube service I worked for many years ago which works perfect for all heavy equipment diesel engines especially CAT.

    • @mewithouttherandomnumbers
      @mewithouttherandomnumbers Před 2 lety +1

      Be careful. Modern tranny fluid isn't the same as what the old timers were using. There's different additives in it which can mess around with some of your components. Same with 2 stroke oil. I've heard that Marvel Mystery Oil can be a good substitute.

    One. Drain intire fuel housing. Check for dirt, or metal filings at bottom of housing. At sometime in the trucks life you will find, small aluminum shavings, which will indicate a fuel pump could be going bad. Clean and reassemble, using new fuel. Never use the old fuel.

    • @willmann30

      DO NOT DRAIN THE ENTIRE BOWL. You'll lose prime.

    As a retired diesel mechanic. Looks good. I wouldn't reuse fuel though. The other is most are electric fuel pumps. So you cycle key few times. It will pump out air and fill air gapes in filters. Very good on technic.

  • @rejeanmeilleur8408
    @rejeanmeilleur8408 Před 4 lety +16

    That is the INCORRECT way to do that filter change. Never use Vaseline. Never reuse diesel fuel from the bottom of the filter. That bowl is meant to have a vacuum for proper water separation. After the new filter is on and filled with clean diesel to the top of the filter, tighten the top cap, start engine until running smooth, then just loosen the top cap while the engine is running and the fuel level will drop. Once the fuel gets down to the level of the bottom ring, tighten the top cap snug. You only need to change the filter when the fuel level gets near the top of filter head marked with a black line on the filter itself.

    Marvel Mystery Oil is good for dissolving carbon build up inside the motor so use it with the motor oil, not very helpful when used with the fuel and lucas oil or other lubricants are not needed in the fuel of diesel engines because diesel fuel is very oily, just change filters regularly, they don’t help much when it comes to injector cleaning either. Lucas can however be useful in gasoline engines because nowadays gasoline without the lead is a dry fuel and additives can help provide the needed lubrication.
