The ex-PM salary should be based on performance. Blair would be jail, Brown would owe us for the gold reserves he sold off for next to nothing, and the rest, including Truss, should get nothing and be paying us back.

Because that's the law, or legislation that's in place.
It's the same for any ex PM of any political colour.
Whether it's right, or fair, or even appropriate is another matter and worth looking at for sure.
Unfortunately it was propbably one of those arrangements that were under the auspices of the House to decide for themselves. and MPs(of all parties) are fairly well known for lining their own nests.

If you mean the rumoured 125k, that is incorrect. Ex PMs are entitled to claim up to ca. 116k after leaving office, but that's to be claimed as expenses incurred for duties pertaining to their previous position as the PM. They do not automatically get that amount and their pension is separate. Truss got 18k in severance. It's quite common for ex PMs to be on the gravy train, though, as people like Major, Cameron et al still claim nearly the full expenses amount each year and it's likely Truss will, too, but it's not guaranteed, so she will not automatically receive some vast sum of money for doing nothing.

If you follow a strictly partisan path it is far too easy to become blind to the shortcomings of the few in one’s own group, which is a fast track to, rightly or wrongly, facing equal levels of disparagement from supporters of some other group.

The arrogance of her reply to the reporter, as though he's some kind of pauper wasting a king's time with stupid questions; her stupid smug, supercilious smile that she uses as a shield against the crushing reality of her unpopularity; the fact that even though she's clearly pissed off and disappointed she can't show it because she's INCAPABLE OF BEHAVING LIKE A NORMAL HUMAN - this little stretch of footage perfectly encapsulates Liz Truss's awfulness as a politician and a person.

This announcement shown here wasn't actually made in her own constituency. I've lived in the area, even though I originate from Manchester. She represented South West Norfolk, King's Lynn is in North West Norfolk (see the sign on the lectern of the Returning Officer). Knowing the area well myself, the announcement was probably made there because there aren't any big towns in her constituency, King's Lynn is the third biggest in the county of Norfolk, after Norwich and Great Yarmouth, so therefore it was logical to make the announcement there as it's geographically nearer. Still, well worth the wait, though, even though it was almost 7 o'clock.

Yet another example of the ongoing wealth extraction that has been going on for decades.

When you have such wealth as Sunak, these hiccups in the financial markets are just an opportunity to capitalise on the panics. It's called disaster capitalism. Sunak made millions on the 2008 crash, so he already has form on this type of parasitism.
