Kevin, I've been following this band for a few years now and I initially had the same apprehensions regarding translations and commenting. But I can tell you two things, one -- written-word translators work very well (as opposed to audio auto-translate, which is very inconsistent), and two -- the Indonesian fans of VOB (Baladceprot) are some of the nicest, most polite fans in the world, and I have never been made to feel bad about trying to communicate!

Sitti cannot practice at her apartment because normal drums are too loud. So it's not just 'buying her some drums' that will solve the problem. She needs to have quality electronic drums so the volume can be controlled. All 3 of them could jam and practice with just headphones. Anytime. Trust me, I am a drummer who has used edrums like this.

Firstly Widi practice guitar, once she watched RHCP in her teacher laptop she felt in love with Flea, she practice bass sound using her teacher very poor acoustic guitar since she don’t have any bass guitar. The teacher (Abah) bought 70 dollar second hand electric guitar by installment payment. While they continually got blasphemy and even physically, they continue to practice. They feel they find themselves in metal music. See you in your next talk about VOB dude.

I am happy to be able to bring the girls and their music more to the US and to the western rock and metal audience, and they have that special stuff to them that bands that are skyrocketing now have. I have seen Metallica's Enter Sandman by the Warning and VOB. I think VOB is better and more metal than the Warning. From this song we can compare the quality of their skills. VOB has made European tours and now the US.The US tour is the most important tour for VOB to be recognized worldwide.

The Warning have opened for the Foo Fighters, Muse (who they are going to Europe to support as well), Halestorm, and now Guns N Roses. VoB has the same special stuff to them that The Warning has, and some support in the US could skyrocket their success! Get them connected with a band like Volbeat, Ghost, Disturbed, Sevendust, Slipknot, they will go far

My ex-wife yes unfortunately ex-wife comes from Jakarta Indonesia originally. I was wondering if anyone knows. Now that they've got a foothold across the globe and getting noticed. Is there government now sort of behind them in a sense. Not like they were being treated in the real early days. Where they were shunned by many in their country. I wonder if anybody could elaborate or knows. If their government and Indonesia itself along with the people. Are starting to support them more. Anybody has an answer to that I would appreciate it. It could also be a thing of prejudice from people as rock and metal fans from the US and Europe might have backed away initially with hijab-wearing women playing metal. But the good thing is they are getting support now and more support will continue to happen for them as time goes on. If you get an answer to this question, please let me know as I would love to know that answer as well
Hi Chuck, I'm Indonesian living in Jakarta. From what I know, all musicians especially who play non-so commercial music genre (Metal is not popular outside Indonesian metal scene), they don't get money/fund support for their tour. but I can say the government help them by making the regulation easier such as live concert permit, the copyright law, and visa permits for tour abroad. VOB were shunned by many in this country it's true, and I believe its still happen if they have show in some conservative religious areas in Indonesia.

I know on their 2021 and 2022 europe tours they had red carpet receptions and interviews at their embassies in belgium, netherlands, etc. Some of this is on youtube

Today helped with the subscriber count and we are changing up our content strategy now with the success of this episode. But the style of the podcast, that is never changing.
I wanna have the best podcast in rock and metal and this episode is a major catalyst of it now.
The Warning are fantastic.
But, BabyMetal are not really a female band, but a stage act, or "metal opera" of female dancers backed by background Male session musicians. They are fun to watch and have carved out a successful market niche but they don't qualify as an all-female band.
VOB are vastly different. All three come from rural, poor farm village and started out knowing nothing, playing on ten dollar instruments they found at the back of their school. All of them had to struggle against even their parents to get permission to play the music. They were denied permission but practiced in secret. They started with 15 personnel, then just 7, then , after those dropped off, just the three of them. When they performed a little gig at their school, their parents were proud and finally decided to let them continue. It just so happened that these three remaining had the talent, diligence, and determination to succeed.
When it comes to the way an audience can connect with them and with some of the backlash they have received from people based on their image, that aligns with what BabyMetal experienced early on in metal. However I made the comparison to The Warning because VoB remind me of them so much from when I interviewed The Warning. Their attitude, spirit, and ability are truly something special. I would love to see The Warning and VoB tour together. It would go over very well I think.
That would be awesome if these two bands go on tour together and at some points perform together on the same stage.
I hope the vob concert will be successful in the United States.....god job
