Fun fact, it was because of the "sound" of this record that Bon Jovi got the same producer, Bruce Fairbairn, to produce their their album, Slippery When Wet. Jon was listening to this CD and loved the sound. If their was ever a true champion of 80's rock music, it was Fairbairn. His resume is incredible. Unfortunately, he passed away in 1999, but what a legacy he leaves behind.

Definitely Bullshit CDs weren't even around yet and at that time everyone were using one out of the three huge producers at the time,so very much doubt bon Jovi wanted the producer just because of them. Doc magee was also friends with the guy so I'm sure that had way more to do with it. Either way both suck

By second record, 1985’s Without Love, hard rock had established a firm foothold in the US charts, with bands like Quiet Riot, Mötley Crüe, Ratt and Night Ranger enjoying success, but it was merely the tip of the iceberg. In August 1986 (and a month later in the UK), Bon Jovi would release the album that made their careers. Slippery When Wet would turn the New Jersey quintet from also-rans to world beaters, selling almost 30 million copies. The reason it’s mentioned here? Simple: without Black ’N Blue, Slippery When Wet might not have existed, at least not as we know it. As the story goes, Jon Bon Jovi was looking to hire a producer for the follow-up to 7800° Fahrenheit when he heard Without Love and was completely blown away by it, hiring Bruce Fairbairn (and writing a song of his own called Without Love).
“I can verify that,” nods St James, “as Jon Bon Jovi told me that face to face one night. So it’s true! What he told me was: ‘I put your CD on and it blew away ours.’ Even Richie Sambora thanked me. I don’t know, I guess it should kinda piss me off in a way. Like, you know, where’s my cheque?”
St James isn’t bitter, though. “What I can take away from it is, I must have been a fairly smart guy for choosing [producers] Bruce Fairbairn and Bob Rock. I saw something there.”

Saw them on that same tour. It was at Celebrity Theater in PHX. The theater is "in the round." There are two ramps for the bands to get to the stage, the seating is right next to the ramps. My buddy had his seat right next to the ramp. He knew what a huge Tommy Thayer fan I was. Tommy came out to watch Yngwie play and he was standing right next to my friend. He tapped me on the shoulder with a big grin on his face and switched seats with me. After a few minutes of "I can't believe this!!" I got up the courage to tap him on the shoulder and tell him what a big fan I was and complimented him on his playing. He was very gracious and and spent a couple of minutes chatting. I'll never forget it :) I was probably 16 at the time. I'm approaching 54 now. I miss those days :)

I wish we had the actual audio of this video.
Unplugged electric guitars and the sound of drum sticks beating on a metal airplane.
      Twirling his sticks and everything.
      So awesome.

Saw this band open for Lita Ford and Yngwie Malmsteen in the summer of 1988 in Chicago at the Aragon Ballroom--like all 80's big hair bands, they sucked, then and now. Lita Ford also sucked--Malmsteen, not so much.
