I don't know how I missed his music , I started listening about a year ago, I love his music and I listen all the time. Love rainy night! Sorry we lost him in 2018 , I hope he's on a cloud somewhere playing his music!
A great voice and talent... so wonderful to hear his music on you tube.. he didn’t sell out to Nashville or Hollywood... he’s the real deal...thank you Germany for this doc and your recorded concerts of him
There's music in this doc that is not available on retail album or CD. I admire the loner, his gift of being a total musician & his willingness to share with the world. RIP TJW. I'll carry your songs in my heart. SL
Outstanding documentary. In 1966 I was inducted into the US Navy in the same building that housed the Muscle Shoals Sound Studio. We also had meetings and classes in the same building from 1966 until 1972. Thanks for the video!
That’s the trouble with kids today, as Tony says, you don’t need money to have a good time. RIP Tony 😔 you maybe gone, but your music and attitude about life and the music industry lives on.
this is what a true musician is to bad we have lost this direction now its just the buck not the feeling the need for expression the connection is gone
So interesting, so much talent, loved his style, the story, relaxing to listen to his music, his way of telling the music-story. Genius gone too soon. 😢

Thanks for uploading this, and as you know Elvis did I think 3 or 4 of his songs. During the black and white version of Tony Joe White's Polk Salad Annie, he kind of looks like Elvis in the movie Change Of Habit when he is singing the song Rubberneckin' . Somewhere around here I have Tony Joe White's The Best of Tony Joe White cd. Thanks again!
Yes, Elvis did "For Ol Times Sake" and "I've Got A Thing About You Baby" also. Tony Joes classic "Rainey Night In Georgia" was on a possible list for Elvis to record at his January 1977 Nashville sessions, that so sadly never happened. However, Elvis record producer when working in 1980 on Elvis' new album "Guitar Man" at Young N Sound studios in Nashville had Tony Joe come in to duet with Elvis on his song "For Ol Times Sake". I have a copy of those unreleased tapes.
This documentary is titled Tony Joe White - l'homme du Sud (TV Special 1994). This appears to be a French documentary filmed, which explains the sub titles. I found the info on IMDb.
I'm a Yankee, but I've been down South - love the people and love the food. The people who bad mouth the South have never been there, or else they wouldn't say what they do.

THIS A KEEPER (EVEN WITH THE STATIC and German wording) Yup.! G-G 😀😄😁
The singing voice I always wished I had. The writing chops as well.
I'm a Yankee, but I've been down South - love the people and love the food. The people who bad mouth the South have never been there, or else they wouldn't say what they do.
Elvis referred to him as "my old buddy, Tony Joe White".
