Ingredients
1. Pumpkin (Mathanga) cubed - 4 to 5 cups
2. Salt - to taste
3. Chilli powder - ½ tsp
4. Turmeric powder - ½ tsp
5. Crushed pepper - 1 ½ tsp
Masala
6. Grated coconut - 1 ½ cup
7. Pepper - ½ tsp
8. Cumin seeds - 1 ½ tsp
9. Garlic - 5 to 8 cloves
10. Chilli powder + turmeric powder - 1 pinch each
Seasoning
11. Coconut oil - 2 tbsp
12. Mustard seeds - ½ tsp
13. Cumin seeds - ½ tsp
14. Red chilli - 4 to 5
15. Grated coconut - 1cup
16. Curry leaves - plenty
Preparation
Preparation
1. Boil the vegetables with items 2 to 5.
2. Grind the ingredients for the masala.
3. Add the masala to the well-done mix, add water & boil once.
4. Season with the ingredients excepting coconut.
5. Add coconut to the seasoned mix,
stir quickly & fry the coconut till its aroma rises & light red in colour. Add to the curry & mix.

Tharavattile pashuvinte aalayude pirakilum kure mathan vallikal undayrnu..annokke povan eettvum arappulla sthalayrnu aalayude backside n chanaka kuzhi😅.
Another nostalgic taste that reminds me of a 5 year old grandchild her achamma was that of muringapoo thoran..also plavilayil chutta meeninte enar (fish eggs)..I had the exact same taste buds as my achamma!
I lost her when I was 10 years old..but she gave me infinite memories to cherish !She had a lot of friends ,irrespective all barriers of those times. We went to attend nomb thuras together and I accompanied her for the evening 'kissa's .I really hated going Anganavadi as I love more to roam around with her.In those times people used to came to our tharavad to make Paya ,muram and baskets and she always make sure I get a special kutti version of muram or basket for me and she made me call each of them valyamma or moothamma just like they are elder sisters of my parents and I still call them the same ,which make them tearful in the memory of my lovely achamma..
Now I am a 29 years old doctor living in Germany..
Sumateacher is too young to be my achamma..but still for that small little girl in me ,you reminds me of my Achamma!😘
A gush of memories made me cry today,while the mathanga Erisserii is getting done on my stove!😊

ഞാൻ കുവൈറ്റിൽ ആണ്. ഒരുപാട് ഇഷ്ടമാണ് മത്തങ്ങ എരിശ്ശേരി. കുരുമുളക് ചേർക്കാറില്ല. ഒരു വലിയ ക ഷ് ണും സർക്കര ചേർക്കാറുണ്ട്. ഗുരുവായൂരപ്പ ന്റെ മത്തങ്ങ കറി യെ കുറിച്ച് ഒരു വീഡിയോ ഇ ട ണും. ഇടക്കു ചന്ദന കുറി തൊടാൻ മറ ക രുത്.

🥰🥰🥰ഒത്തിരി ഇഷ്ടമുള്ള ഒരു കറിയാണ് എരിശ്ശേരി. എല്ലാത്തരം എരിശ്ശേരിയും (ചക്ക, മത്തങ്ങ , ചേനയും ഏത്തക്കായും ) വളരെ ഇഷ്ടമാണ്. പിന്നെ ടീച്ചറമ്മ പറഞ്ഞ പഴയകാല കഥ nostalgia ഉണ്ടാക്കുന്നതു തന്നെ കുട്ടിക്കാലത്ത് തറവാടും തൊഴുത്തും പശുക്കളും പിന്നെ തൊഴുത്തിനു പുറകിലുള്ള പറമ്പിലെ മത്തനും , തൊഴുത്തിൻ്റെ ഓടുമേഞ്ഞതിൻ്റെ മുകളിൽ നിറച്ചു കായ്ച്ചു കിടക്കുന്ന കുമ്പളവും ഒക്കെ ഓർമ്മ വന്നു . പിന്നെ ഓണക്കാലവും മത്തൻ പൂവു കൊണ്ട് അത്തമിടുന്നതും ഒക്കെ .ആ കാലമൊക്കെ എത്ര രസമായിരുന്നു.
