This is a FANTASTIC cover of the five part harmony arrangement done by Club For Five, a Finnish A Capella group. Tim asked Tuukka the bass from Club for Five for the arrangement. He sent it to them, then highly praised it. Tuukka said the "echo" sequence Home Free added made it even better.

I am the daughter of a WW2 vet, and the mother of a retired Marine who served in Iraq....so this hits home for me. But above the emotional response, I marvel at the harmonic blending of the background voices. I sang for years in choirs; that perfection is hard to come by. These fellas are the BEST!

Dire Straits first sang this in 1985 and even to this day and this version it has never failed to bring tears to my eyes. The story behind it, the time it was written (Falkland War), the haunting melody, all if it really get to me. And to hear it now in Tim's deep tones has me sobbing by the end almost ever time. Maybe we should tack a 'no makeup, have tissues handy' warning on it for reactors.

I agree. Hauntingly beautiful and a masterpiece. So well done. Loved Tim’s low notes. Loved the echoes. Loved the black and white film. Tim and Chance looked ghost like in the windows (as though they were dead). Such a wonderful tribute. This was released for Veteran’s day. So beautiful. Good reaction Scarlet. And I understand the tears.

As a retired military I see the wisdom of this song and it's "to the point" recognition of the foolishness of man killing man. Unfortunately, as long as wickedness resides amd rules the hearts of men war is as inevitable as tomorrow's sunrise. Very depressing to consider this but still showing that there's a hope of peace coming because of the sentiment contained in this tune.
God, bless the peacemakers, and grant them salvation from this world's sickness.

Thank you for such a genuine reaction. As many people have found, this is a tough one because it's very thought provoking, which is the intention of the song. Home Free is so unapologetically patriotic and so willing to take on sensitive social issues. They refuse to just cruise along on just the popular content that many artists thrive on. This very special group of men deserve mad respect for keeping it real.

The single best word/description is the one you used... Haunting. Others come to mind, but that's the one. I tear up almost every time I hear this. Tim's opening is absolute musical artistry. The entire piece is magical. The wall of sound after Chance... unreal. I think it is one of their best. Hard to say ONE best, but this is easy top 5. Your reaction was sincere, heart-felt and captivating. It may be a year old, but this one got my like and subscribe! Don't feel alone... I'm crying now too. As an American veteran of senseless war in Vietnam this hits in my guts brains and heart , full immersion.
The friends lost and not justamericans but for all the Vietnam, Cambodian and Laos aren't and loved ones they lost in the millions.
This was at a time of the Draft, forced conscription go to war or go to jail, and we damn near lost a whole generations innocence, and began the very real split. Of US society we face today..
One world with each a different one.Never went to that black wall in DC as my memories of brothers in arms lost Re still too fresh these50 years ago.
Today we have over a million in arms all ready and eager for trigger time while not caring why, all ready to "RIDE TO THE GUN.

This one seems so much like a sacred experience. I always liked the Dire Straits original, never heard the Club for Five version although I have read that Home Free based this on that particular arrangement. The somber, melancholy tone is heartbreaking when combined with lyrics that lament the foolishness of war. Thank you for reacting to this one. Love Home Free, and subscribing to your channel now!

Such a genius touch to show the silhouette of the fellas in front of the window. I know some see it as a "ghost"y reference but it strikes me as a reflection of the POW/MIA flag. We'll never know just how many of those met the same fate as the soldier of this song. 😥

I cry everytime I here this song. My grampy wasin the 2nd world war and cripled. My dad was in the korian war and I was in the Canadian air force. we have seen friend die and this song brings all that home again.
I have been in 22 diffrent countries. some ok some hell no. My worst encounter was when me and my master corple were doing a perimater walk. We runded a corner and a kid maybe 5 or 6 years old was there pointing a german luger at us trying to pull the trigger. we both dropped and upped our FNs when we realized he cound not pull the trigger.who ever gave him the gun didnt calk it for him and he wasnt stonge enuf to calk and fire the weapon. we found out after that they gave him the gun said shoot the men in green and we will give your family food. I almost shoot a 5-6 year old kid in the face with an FN .It still haunts me today.
