    I recently retired after being the authorized service tech for most major digital keyboard manufactures. The brand that had the least repairs was Nord. I was impressed with the quality of their circuit boards, the hardware quality, and the software interface. They are very easy to service as well. Top quality instruments.

      Just wanted to share this. JESUS CHRIST died for us on a cross for our sins. 3 days after his death he resurrected and was, is, and will be The TRUE LIVING GOD. In a prayer repent from your sins and accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior and ask for the HOLY SPIRIT to come into you in that same prayer. Have FAITH in Christ. You could come to Jesus Christ as you are, but once you accept Him, you must become new, change, and be born again, and also turn away from your wicked ways. Jesus Christ is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. God Bless You. The Bible is the true word of God. Please read the Bible and you will see Jesus Christ is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. JESUS CHRIST IS COMING SOON FOR HIS CHURCH.

    I wasn't surprised that a Roland digital made the top of the list, as Ted seems to be partial to them, but I *was* a bit surprised that it was the LX-708, rather than the GP-6 or the GP-9. I'd love to hear Ted's reasoning for choosing the upright model over the grands...

    I have seen many many videos of pianos from Acoustic to digital and Hybrids... This is one of the finest yet. Often when people play samples, they don't honor the instrument with the correct music piece...
    The gentleman here does a fantastic job not only in his choice of Pianos but the accompanied music as well.
    Good job. 👍👌😁

    I have a Yamaha P-515 I love to play. It has a realistic feeling keyboard, sounds are rich and diverse, and it has triple sensors which make it a fine MIDI controller (although it doesn't have pitchbend or variable modulation wheels). It was the top of the line of portable digital pianos, but now the P-525 has supplanted it. Maybe you could review the new P-525 and tell us about the new wireless MIDI, they say they have reduced the system delay time to just 10 milliseconds.

    We're making comparisons across markets here which is dangerous. I don't think that any of the stage pianos can equal a CA-901. I can''t argue with the LX 708, although I'm not sure I would pick it over a Clavinova based on the overall sound.

    Who can help me choose between Yamaha Clavinova CLP 725 and Kawai CN 201? Both have about the same price in Europe. The dealer has recommended Kawai CN 201. I have played on both and find the Kawai keyboard a bit "springy" and unfamiliar. I liked Yamaha better in this respect, it's more like an acoustic piano, or am I wrong? But maybe Kawai sounds slightly better, softer.
    I only play classical music, am no longer a beginner and am looking for an instrument to practise on, partly with headphones in a small flat. The sound and keyboard should be similar to an acoustic piano and it shouldn't be very big. All other electronic features are not important to me.
    Any advice would be appreciated, thank you!

  • @Zoco101

    I'm disappointed with the lightness of Kawai's home DP actions. I expect an upright piano (or its substitute) to have an action that resists a bit more.
    My favourite DP at the moment is the Yamaha CLP-785. I prefer it to most uprights that I could ever hope to afford.

    Did you guys ever check out any Studiologic gear, especially the Numa X Piano ?

    • @Zoco101
      @Zoco101 Před 6 měsíci

      It's funny how it gets skipped by main channels. Maybe Studiologic refuses to place ads. Its strength seems to be as a workstation, and it is sometimes listed as such. The actions are good, though the plastic ones are not graded, if that matters to you.
      The piano sounds don't get great appraisal, and I've seen Woody Piano Shack compare the assorted sounds to the CK-88/61. I'm sorry to say that the CK sounds were almost invariably more robust, at least from the CZcams viewer perspective. Playing it yourself might be a different experience, particularly with those nice Fatar actions. But the CK-88, for example, is another 20% more expensive than the Numa X-88, despite having only the basic GHS action. If you want all the bells and whistles of a Numa X Piano, you could could always add a V3 Sound Grand Piano module.

    • @symbiat0
      @symbiat0 Před 6 měsíci

      @@Zoco101 I’m talking about the next model up, the Numa X Piano GT. It’s not really a workstation (though it does have auto accompaniment and non-piano sounds, no way of arranging, no sequencer, no real sound design, etc) but it does have a mixer for external inputs and onboard FX. The keybed feels amazing and my original plan was to use it as a master controller for other gear alongside piano duty. I’m only asking because the Nord was included in the round up 🤷🏻‍♂️

    • @Zoco101
      @Zoco101 Před 6 měsíci

      @@symbiat0 Despite my forebodings on the piano patches, I do have a soft spot for Studiologic. I love its individualism, innovation, value for money and company ethic. There's a swell factory tour video in CZcams, made by a zany keyboard reviewer - forget his name. I'm kind of sad that I don't really need a Numa X piano at the moment.
      The GT model is very heavy, but I'm guessing it would make a fantastic home studio master controller keyboard/piano, maybe coupled with some extra piano software. It could also function as one of those stage pianos in a flight case that sound companies tend to own, but so could the 88 plastic key model. For this application, the precise piano tone is less important than functionality and build quality. As a gigging pianist, I would not want to carry the GT around, on my own due to the weight.

    It's interesting how the CK-88 is marketed as a "stage keyboard". I reeled in horror, when I first saw this, but maybe Yamaha has identified a niche, a reality that is staring at us as the industry shifts.
    Stage pianos were what you used, wherever, when either you couldn't get an acoustic, or because you wanted an EP sound anyway.
    There was a transitory period as stage pianos went digital and acquired such good piano patches that they got used just as pianos (too) at the less formal gigs. But is stage piano really an apt descriptive name?
    It seems that pianists seldom play a digital piano with a straight DP patch in a big formal stage setting. Acoustic pianos are still the main instrument for this application. Meanwhile we see more of the informal gigs (including receptions, restaurants, makeshift jazz clubs) and teaching too, requiring a simple, more portable DP, with fewer bells and whistles. Accordingly, the new'ish professional portable piano category is supplanting the stage piano in many current applications.
    So what is left for stage pianos? Well, their (not-so-pianistic) range of other patches and effects and controls for special onstage and studio applications are still very important. Hence Yamaha's new focus on "stage keyboard". Notably, Yamaha hasn't put its best and heaviest action in the CK-88. There's no need to.

    Ted, do you dare designing the keybd for the digital piano of the near future? Don't tell here, contact Roland for example. DP need no strings, humans need keys, how would you arrange them in 2D, to begin with. Players will learn. Digital music is the future, the only sound transducers are speakers, boards, shells, etc. That will boost also computer user interface capabilitites. Take Care
