  • ABOUT THIS VIDEO PIPING - HOW TO READ ISOMETRIC DRAWING FOR PIPING ENGINEER PIPE FITTER .
Piping Isometric drawing is an isometric representation of single pipe line in a plant. It is the most important deliverable of piping engineering department. Piping fabrication work is based on isometric drawings.
Piping isometric drawing consists of three sections. Main Graphic section consist of Isometric Representation of a pipe line route in 3D space, which includes following information
    Line number.
    Flow Direction.
    Support Tags and location.
    Piping Components location.
    Weld Locations.
Section on left or right side of drawing consists of Bill of Material Section for the portion of line shown in isometric graphic. It includes following information for all components :
    Component Description.
    Component Material Code.
    Nominal Size.
    Quantity.
Whether shop material or field material.
    Number of Spools.
It is not drawn to the scale, but it is proportionate with the exact dimensions represented.
Pipes are drawn with a single line irrespective of the line sizes, as well as the other configurations such as reducers, flanges, and valves.
Pipes are shown in the same size. The actual sizes are notified in the Bill of Material, tagging, call-out, or notes.
A piping isometric drawing provides all the required information like:
    Pipe Line Number
    Continuation isometric number
    Flow direction
    Piping dimensions
    Piping joint types, weld types
    Flange and valve types
    Equipment connection details
Piping and Component descriptions with size, quantity, and material codes

What is a pipe offset? What is a rolling offset?
In doing some pipe works, we sometimes encounter situations wherein we have to connect two lines of pipes that are not quite aligned with each other. These two pipelines could be offset horizontally or vertically. When we see a combination of both horizontal and vertical offset, or in other perspectives, a combination of offsets in two different directions, we call it a pipe rolling offset.
To deal with pipe offsets, we can use a bent pipe fitting to change the direction of the pipeline and another bent fitting to return to the final direction of the pipeline. In this calculator, we tackle how to find the travel length, which is the length of the diagonal that connects the two points at which the pipeline changes directions
