“Why is Black Manta in the movie?” he should have been the main villain. His costume was perfect and everything imo, severely underused
He was underused, but I did like that Black Mantra kept alive for the sequel. We rarely get to see supervillain not killed off. I like that Black Mantra is evolving from a minor role to a major role in the sequel.
Hey I was upset that Black Manta had a small role when he is one of Aquaman’s greatest and most dangerous rivals. I did like the fight scene with him and Aquaman. Hopefully in the sequel we can get more character development, and see what other ways can Black Manta combat against Aquaman.
DanV900 I’d argue he probably should have just been the villain in the first one, but that would require massive plot changes. His fight scene with Arthur is arguably the best moment of the film, so it would have been cool to seem them build on that. Hopefully the sequel does

Nick needs to read the elements of murder lol. He has described scenes as "legitimate murder" In a few movies and every time it's been wrong haha

I always bring the kid within me when it comes to movies like Aquaman. I get the most fun out of it.

The problem with DC is that they always want to do too much at once. They need to learn how to prioritize. Aquaman should’ve been about him finding his place in the world as both human and Atlantean, finding his mom and finding peace with his brother. The consequences of his fight with his brother should’ve led into part two and his conflict with Black Manta. This synopsis alone could’ve been the perfect hour and a half movie. DC needs to realize that they have great source material and the most iconic characters. They need to try so hard.

I really enjoy the movie. I think for the sequel they need to make sure the script is better than the first movie. Thought it look great visually and maybe they need to tone down the brightness of it just a little bit. I enjoy this movie more than Justice League that's for sure.
So I went back and looked up how Black Manta's dad died. Remembering that just before this, the two of them brutally LEGITIMATELY murdered a bunch of suckers on a ship...I'm not sure why Nick expected Aquaman to save them. Like, I agree with Nick in most cases about how DC heroes should be better. But Manta's all "I've heard about you, been waiting to kill you" and tries to stab Arthur to death but he sucks. Then his dad shoots Arthur with a fucking ROCKET. It fails, Aquaman chucks something at him, nails him to the wall..but actually is nice enough to pull that out and he actually leaves.
At this point, it's PERFECTLY possible for them to cut their "losses" and just go. But no, manta's dad won't accept getting his ass kicked. He fires another rocket at EXTREMELY close range for no reason when they could've just left. Like...what??? So after...three separate attempts to murder him, he's gotta save him again? lol.
Unlike most of these films this movie does not have a identity problem this film knows wat it is and try’s to be a dumb fun film
I love films that like that, not every movie has to be Oscar bait or even good to be entertaining. That’s what movies are for.
I'm sorry but I disagree strongly. I think this might be my favorite DC movie. I love the visuals and the action.
Could use some fat trimming and lose the lame battle of the 5 cgi armies at the end
So it tried to be ragnarok, but failed? Ok, so ragnarok gave u a flimsy ass excuse why hulk was halfway across the galaxy, but that's ok. Thor looses his dad to a breeze, finds out he had a sister, his mom,friends, everyone in asgard managed to keep it from him,sister tries to kill him, kills all his friends, destroys his hammer, suddenly the power has been within in him all this time(until infinity war, where russos say fuck that bs), and he still is happy go lucky, naive thor and that's ok for u guys?
I say this as someone who vastly prefers DC Comics to Marvel Comics: Aquaman is nowhere near as good as Ragnarok. They aren't in the same universe man.
@@SageShini I'm not saying they are, but the complaints sometimes on DC movies is ridiculous. I give Greg credit cuz hes said it multiple times throughout these series of reviews, alot of things are a certain way cuz people complained about the dark, and bleak nature of the movies. And that has alot to do with the inconsistencies in these movies. They changed things to be lighter and sillier, and that people complain about too. Ragnarok was a tight, fun movie. But why should the ending of someone's universe with the deaths of many of their loved ones be fun? I dont disagree with most of how the movie was done, except tone and destroying the hammer.

My dad and i went to the set of Aquaman, the scene of them in Italy. Was so weird - it was filmed out the back of Movie World in Australia!

Aquaman is a fun film, and I disagree on Black Manta, he was underutilized but he was cool. This is the New DCEU era.
Temuera Morrison is Arthur’s dad. Was in a fantastic movie called “once were warriors” do yourselves a favour and watch it. Represents how rough New Zealand was in the day

I very much agree with Andy. Saw it once and never thought about it again but I didn’t even have fun with it. Comparing to birds of prey that you don’t have to think about but I had fun... everything is subjective here though so I get it
This is a very good movie. One of the best DCEU movies. You guys talk trash to this like its Suicide Square or Batman v Superman, or Justice League movie, when it's so much better.

Can we please get Nick a regular Batman logo t-shirt and Tim a Flash logo t-shirt that way they don't have to wear these costumes, they really do look uncomfortable wearing these suits for 2 hours an episode. I'm sure if they get them a shirt like Greg's Superman one it would be a lot better!
Listen, embracing how stupid the basic concept of Aquaman (who, thanks to Superfriends, was DC's whipping boy and the butt of jokes for decades) is, was the ONLY way to make this movie. It's big, and loud, and garish, and stupid as all fuck..and that is exactly what makes it work. James Wan knew precisely what he was doing and his instincts were 100% on point.

MY MAN! i enjoyed this movie a lot more than i thought i would, it might have been the breaks i took but i didnt ever feel bored and enjoyed all the action that was peppered throughout the movie. I do agree that Black Manta was not necessary and i think he should have been hinted at in this movie, maybe his dad dies in italy as a bystander giving him motivation to hate Aquaman but not make it directly Aquamans fault. I respectfully disagree with the comments that this movie is too bloated. I actually really respect that they went balls out and put almost every major Aquaman related villain in this. I get SO tired of these superhero movies that deliberately restrain themselves just for the sake of setting up 20 sequels. Aquaman went all out (although that will make things tricky when it comes time for a sequel) and I really respect it.
And it payed off, the reviews were mixed, but a much better improvement then Justice League, it is the first DCEU film to hit a billions. This is felt like a brand new start for DC

Haven't seen birds of prey might order it right now idk I just dont have any interest as to where these 7 movies cept for suicide squad peaked my interest. The top 4 I truly enjoy and BvS the extended cut is a good movie. Its got issues and some plot problems but I like Batfleck. If only they gave supes something to do. Justice League and Suicide Squad r just awful. Altho I am really looking forward to the synder cut on HBOMAX in 2021. However it's not really fair cuz now he's had time to hear feedback and make changes and reshoots to the point that I was reading an article and as of November 20th synder has been given 70 million to a newer Justice League. Either way im gonna watch it cuz it looks coo

Just watched it for the first time, not a big fan of the DC movies outside of the Nolan stuff, I liked this one 🤷🏻♂️ The Villain could've been more convincing and there wasn't any real resolution but there's gonna be a sequel so we'll see. It was a decent baseline character introduction/development movie for people less familiar with the character

I saw Aquaman & Spider Verse on the same day but I feel asleep during Aquaman This movie was boring during the 2nd act. I’m with Andy on this one.
I think my favorite part of the movie was (no joke) the four or five shots in the Sicily setpiece that had me wanting a Metroid movie. (The dude chasing Mera, using the Speed Booster to rip through walls and...shoot...tuck and roll. Hold R.)

Okay Andy, sorry it was fun for some of us. And for Shazam, I hope you like because it is fun family superhero movie, with some weird dark tone changes. But I think it is better than Aquaman.
This franchise had basically nowhere to go but up after Justice League, and while this one's still kinda so-so, not too dissimilar to some of the early MCU solo movies, it's sure as shit better than what came before (sans Wonder Woman). Fun stuff.

shazaam is a lot of fun and has a bunch of great jokes... but this movie fucking sucked and i'm glad Andy got to that point early enough in the review. I'm only 10 min in but I'm hoping this falls right above suicide squad.

This movie is the best movie in the DCEU (haven’t seen Birds Of Prey yet). Nick’s complaints, like usual, are totally unfounded and most of his descriptions of what happened in this movie are blatantly wrong. I’d like to see what movie he watched because it’s obvious he watched something else lol. Nick should smoke a fatty before the next movie he watches so he might not hate it 😂. Tim continuing to be the biggest hypocrite ever. The quippy one liners are fine in Ant-Man or Thor Ragnorak, but oh no now they’re in a DC movie so NOW they’re dumb and stupid. Tim should just stop watching any DC movies and not be in future for In-Review for this series. I get liking MCU more, but if you can’t be objective at all then you just come off as annoying for an hour and half and it’s NOT fun for the audience .

Black Manta looks like he belongs in a 1993 episode of Power Rangers. Although Andy is right that this movie is terrible it can not be overstated that this is the best DCEU movie so far. Have not seen Birds or Shazam yet but holy shit compared to the rest of the trash this movie had parts that didn't make me regret my life choices. DCEU is objectively garbage
