it good to see at least some 1 still keep posting videos for spark. Thumbs up
For sure!
Yeah, the Spark is a keeper.
Very tight drone and very decent camera.
thank you for the vid and info. will start trying palm launch and land due to dust dirt debris. and the pause/stop button thank you
One of the more useful spark videos I have watched. Good quality content 😁
Great stuff! I'm forwarding this to a friend who recently purchased a DJI Spark. Many thanks.
Thanks , I've had my Spark for 4 yrs now and just learned more. The OTG cable for communication. Recently I've had a problem with interference at a certain location. And the "grab 90 degree" to turn off. I've grabbed and double click to turn off a few times . . . going to be handy knowledge.
Thanks again.
That's great! So happy to hear you picked up a few new tricks. Happy flying! PS I LOVE hearing about folks still flying the Spark. Cheers!
I am so glad I am not the only one with a spark!!! Thank you for all your videos that help us spark owners out!!
You bet! Sooooooo many Spark owners out there! 😀
Very useful advice! I've been flying a Spark since last year, but did not know about the pause button.
I was once on a sidewalk and had the drone in tracking mode. After it tracked me for about 1 mile, the battery went low, so it decided to return to home. When it ascended, it hit a tree. It almost fell, recovered and did the same hitting the tree twice. I finally somehow managed to take it down safely.
Good tips. I programmed the function button to "take off" & "land". One push & it will take off from your hand or land on your hand.
good tip, thanks man
Steve Coutts I am so glad to have found and subscribed to your channel. A wide majority of videos on CZcams relating to the DJI Spark are "high level" reviews whereas you bring it down to offer a common sense laymen’s approach of everyday challenges faced with flying and how to avoid pitfalls. I particularly like your hands on experiences along with accessories suggestions and detailed approach to improving our overall experience in flying. Looking forward to your future vids as you are a natural with sincere emotion..
Thanks very much Doug, I appreciate that! 😀
Steve you are one of the few ones still are producing videos about this amazing gadget. Thanks 4 not leaves us alone in the battle of drones
Haha! For sure! 👍
Steve I love your Channel! I have been watching it for months now under my old channel. You have helped me so much get to know my DJI Spark. Thank you so much for all the information and tips and tricks. Hopefully one day my footage will be somewhere near yours. Keep up the amazing work man.
Thanks so much, I appreciate it! 👍😀
I had my first flight a few days ago, tried gesture mode without my phone. It took off nicely, but seems to get confused about palm control and landing. Luckily I remembered your tip on the emergency shutoff, worked like a charm. Thank you so much!
Awesome! Glad to hear you remember the trick. Cheers and happy flying!
I don't own a drone and have never flown a drone, but have done a LOT of video watching on the DJI Spark recently. Your short video is really excellent and informative. Thank you!
Thanks and thanks for watching!
Not new to DJI products just got a spark and you are right I learnt one thing ..did not know about the 90° shut off :) thanks
Awesome! Happy to hear you learned a new trick and always love hearing from folks flying Sparks. Happy, safe flying! 👍
Thanks for all of the informative videos. Please keep up the good work. I am a beginner drone flyer and owner. I love my spark.
You bet Ronn! Thanks for watching! PS I love my Spark too! 😀
Excellent, thanks for continuing to upload videos of the dji spark. Greetings from Argentina
You bet! Thanks for watching! 👍
@Steve Coutts I just bought a spark and have been researching guides and tips, and your channel is amazing, I came across you on the DJI forums too! Thanks for keeping the Spark community so fresh and alive 😁 There’s amazing resources here for us beginners 😄
Awesome! Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. Good to hear the videos have been helpful! 😀👍
Whenever I launch my spark I do palm launching, but what makes it way easier is just press de power button twice, then look at the camera and It will launch itself, and hover at a few feet. Then I grab my remote and get going. Way easier because you don't have to hassle with the remote in one hand, holding the spark in the other! Great video by the way!
That's a great tip! I never thought of that one. I will definitely try it out. Thanks! 👍
good vid thx... saw the three of you heading towards the river yesterday... didn’t have time to stop and say “hi”... next time 😀
Haha! Next time. 😀
Excellent info. Thanks. I considered myself very familiar with my Sparky, then here you come with all your sparkly knowledge. No really, thanks a bunch. I'm now a new subby!
Awesome! Glad it was helpful. 😀
Ah, great tips! Thanks Steve - love your videos and your dedication to the Spark!
Thanks bunch! Love my Spark, we've been through a lot together - haha! 😀
Top stuff, cheers chap 👍😃 had my Spark about 8 months now and am still amazed at what it can do
I love my Spark!
Thanks a lot for the tips! they have been very useful, specially the landing on the palm, which is some time a little bit problematic to me. 👍🏻
Yeah, I still need to try that.
Definitely absolutely right! I got rid of my spark couple of times and I can’t help it I’ve got to have it still for the size there’s really no out there in the market that can actually perform just like the spark!😎👍
Yeah, tough to beat the Spark on a number of points. 👍
Great video---I just ordered one of these Spark drones in lava red...it will be here Friday. Thanks for the video!
Oh, lava red - awesome! Have fun and take it slow and keep it close until you get the hang of it. Good luck! 👍
Steve Coutts thank you, sir!!!
Cheers Steve, great video and much appreciated tips.
Awesome as always! Thanks for keeping up with the Spark!
You bet! Love my Spark!
My son received this as a birthday gift years ago and we just recently pulled it out and your videos are quite helpful in figuring out all of the things that this does. Thank you so much for your awesome videos. Liked and sub'ed.
That's awesome! I'm a big fan of the Spark although I don't fly it too often any more. It's a great drone and a very good one to start with especially because it's pretty tough. I made a video for new drone fliers, which you may want to have a look at - czcams.com/video/tEiU4QKltA4/video.html. Mistakes can be costly with a drone, so a bit of knowledge can go a long way. Best of luck with the Spark and thanks for the comment and sub. Cheers!
Man, some great info here, thanks !
awesome! Thank you for sharing!
Have the spark for over an year and never knew about the pause button feature properly! Kudos! 👌🏻
Pause is incredibly useful. 😀
Hello Steve, keep making this great video’s with information about the Spark!👍👍👍
I didn't know you can always launch and land from your hand without being in gesture mode. Thanks for the tips.
Excellent info Steve. Thanks, from a seasoned Vet. Thumbs Up!
Hey love your channel watch it all the time. Also a Spark owner and love it. I just wanted to point out you definitely get more distance using the OTG cable I have noticed. Less interference.
yeah i was surprised when he said that the Otg cable doesnt improve flight distance, it really does.
Good to know things! Thanks man!
Nice to see new Spark videos, I did not know about the palm land without gesture mode. I found using an OTG cable is a problem if you knock it and it loses connection momentary, then it is better to rather go for WiFi.
Hey, one new thing - awesome! My OTG cable has been rock solid for me. Good to know about bumping it loose though, I did not consider that. Thanks.
Great tips! Thanks!
Thanks for watching! 👍
Great video, Never knew the pause button one, will be testing it out tomorrow.
The pause button is my BFF. 😀
My finding recently was that the OTG cable actually caused my pixel 2 to drain faster. Maybe since the last app update it will be fixed. Im not holding my breath. I bought the cable for just as you suggest to have rock solid connection.
Another great content from you.. thanks for the videos.
Thanks for watching! 😀
Danke!
Nice and very informative video for a drone newbie like me.keep up the good works and God bless Steve.
Thanks and thanks for watching!
You make quality videos! Thank You
Thanks, I appreciate that! 😀
Thanks Steve, great stuff!
Thanks for watching! That's a pretty old video now - haha - glad you found it useful. Happy, safe flying! Cheers!
Learned a couple of things, thanks Steve.
Awesome! 👍
Thanks for the tips ... didn't know a couple of them
Awesome! Thanks for watching. 😀
cool tips Steve, thanks
good to see no time wasted !
Fantastic vid.
It’s been a while since you posted much of a video was waiting to see some more of your videos and while the spark is great and I know you love it should think and consider the mavic air as well since it is small and is quite like the spark but keep up with the great videos 👍🏼
I love my sparks it's been 1 year..that pause button I didn't kno did all that thank you!!
Pause is my best friend. 😀
good video. Thank you Steve
Thanks and thank you for watching! Cheers!
That was great thanks heaps stay safe see ya
The "emergency stop in your face" shot is by far my favorite Spark video segment.
Haha! Yep. 😀
Tnx for the info brother
No problem 👍
Great tips Steve, cheers my friend.
Thanks!
@@SteveCoutts your welcome Steve.
Thank you for this great video! 👍
Thanks for watching!
Woooow I didn't know about the first tip. That's so cool! I'll try it today or tomorrow 😅
Awesome! One new thing! 😀

Good information, maybe this drone is the one for me.
Thanks. It was the one for me. 😀
Great info
Thanks! It's a pretty old video now - haha. Thanks for watching and the comment. Cheers!
Great vid
Thanks!
cheers. very useful
Thanks and glad it was useful! 😀
Great topics! Thanks!...;)
Thanks for watching!
Great Video 👍🏿 Loved it
Fantastic!
Thanks!
I've bought myself a DJI Spark! Hoping I don't crash the drone while capturing awesome footage!
Happy flying and safe landings!
You'll crash, but it's surprisingly tough.
Grab a $40 Syma quadcopter. Fully manual with no automation. It might be more challenging to fly initially but it will develop your manual flying skills, make you a better pilot and give you quicker reflexes too. Plus they're light weight and so can withstand many hard crashes. If you can get reasonably good at flying the cheap Syma, you'll be an ace pilot with the Spark and significantly reduce your chances of crashing it. I believe the Spark, like the Mavic, has a fatal design flaw for beginners. And that is no user-selectable Atti mode. If the GPS on the Spark malfunctions, it automatically switches to Atti mode. The problem is that people who are completely new to drones have no manual flying skills and no previous experience with Atti mode. And yet Atti mode is forced upon them by the Spark when the GPS gives up. In such instances, newbies are often overwhelmed and panic and crash or experience a flyaway. However, if you get reasonably decent at flying a cheap manual Syma, you'll be able to handle Atti mode on the Spark just fine and resume control.
anzaeria sounds really awesome! I haven’t crashed my drone yet (Flown for 3 hours now) but this could prove worthy for a drone project at my high school!
I crashed my first spark moving sideways into a wall in the apartment. The frame broke.
Thanks I need to fly my spark more. Also buy the prop guards bro!
Haha! I have prop guards but rarely use them, except for indoor flights, then I have them on almost 100% of the time. 😀
good info Steve,, thanks !! If you're ever interested in "finding a lost drone / battery" let me know,,, a very simple trick.
My wife got me a dji spark for xmas. I cant wait. I have the DJI phantom 3 standard and I love it. I wanted a mavick but I felt it was to much for what I need it for. Cant wait to open my new toy
Haha! Have fun! It's a great little drone. Love my Spark! 👍
Great thanks.
Thanks for watching! 👍
Love your videos
Thanks! 😃
I didn't know about the panic button! Thanks 🙂
Haha! It's my favourite button! 😀
@@SteveCoutts I could have saved two drones😑😅
at least one thing you said... Well the very first one indeed.. thanks...
Incredibly Helpful
Awesome! Glad it was useful. 👍
@@SteveCoutts 👍👍
@@SteveCoutts 👍👍
Nice Steve!
Hello excellent tricks thank you for your advices I have a question, you can't turn off the back lights or front lights of the spark like on the Mavic air or phantom 4? During flight
As far as I know, shutting off the lights is not possible. Perhaps someone else will comment if there is a way. 😀
Cool tips :)
Great tricks. By the way- Unfortunally 2 axis gimbal in spark discourages me from use it anymore eh
Yeah, I wonder how I will feel after some 3-axis goodness. We will see...
Thankyou!
nice tips sir 😇
Thanks!
Thanks Steve. 👍🏼
Definitely got few tips today.
I thought OTG cable doesn’t work anymore.
The OTG cable was a problem before since you lost parts of the telemetry like the battery level, etc. but has now been fixed with a firmware update.
OTG was a bit on again/off again for Android but mostly 100% for iOS from the beginning. As Willie added a recent firmware update put it "on again" for Android.
Otg cable is backwards units charging your phone and its makes
The drone go further on Android
I find hovering in front of me and pushing the Autoland with my palm under the Drone a really simple and comfortable way to land.
Yeah, I'm about 50-50 between auto landing and pulling down on the left joystick. I don't really have a preference. 😀
also look into the auto launch, when you dont have to use that yellow slider, much easier and also have no ground touching
Could you describe that more? New owner here.
@@whatsup7202 once you have connected all devices and done pre launch checks you rest the drone in your palm and double tap the battery power button, then drop the drone by bringing your hand down fast
The pause button is a revalation, my new best friend. Thank you
Haha! Yeah, totally it's my BFF too! 😀
Will be using the pause button more often now. Cheers 😊✈️👍
It's my best friend when flying. Saved me a few times. 👍
Steve Coutts I bet. Will be looking forward to more footage from you buddy cheers 🍻
Shame I didn't use it before i hit a tree over a canal in the UK and lost my drone ☹ at least I have my new one now.
Our narrowboat adventure oh no 😱. I’d have been gutted. Glad you got a new one buddy 😊👍✈️
@@Georgewrigley I was very gutted ☹ when we travel past that part of the canal I still think there is a £400 drone sat at the bottom 😫
Ya what he said last keep you hands back I was going to turn it side ways and it hit my fingers a cut me up pretty good
Yikes! Yeah, they will do some good damage. Knock on wood my drones haven't taken a chunk out of me yet! Cheers!
Thanks
Thanks for watching, cheers!
Can you please help me with regards to firmware and dji go app version.. keep hearing that the new version is giving problems flying. What is the safe version and firmware for flying. Tha k you
Interesting. I am on the latest app and firmware version and have not had any issues. I am running on iOS though, not sure what mobile OS you are running. My app updates are set to happen automatically and anytime I the app prompts me to upgrade the firmware, I do. I haven't ever had an issue following that protocol. There is always risk anytime you install a new version so, if your experience hasn't been good, then turn off automatic updates on your app and wait a week or two before installing a new firmware. Good luck! 😀
Yay! Another spark video!!!
Edit: I heard that some people don’t like the OTG cable with an iPhone. What do you think about OTG cables with iPhone’s? Also, this was a great and useful video!
Haha! Thanks! My OTG cable has been great. I don't use it each and every time, just mostly in the scenarios I describe in the video. It's been rock solid. 👍
Steve Coutts Just wondering, do you mainly use it with an iPhone/ iPad?
Hi Steve.......I read that you can’t use the OTG cable anymore because of the latest updates......is that true?
I use one and it works very well
I've tried otg twice and it didn't seem as stable as the Wi-Fi connection. I have heard that the latest update doesn't like otg. I'm running a galaxy s7.
Thanks for tips... new... just to hard to find tips for spark because more new drone like mavic air n pro . I hope u consistend in dji spark for tips, video n other for spar.
I is new spark... i always like u video... i want to share video spark soon... thanks b4... Salam from Indonesia..(sorry for bad english :-))
Thanks for the the comment and thanks for watching! I have plenty of Spark videos and there will be more to come. 😀👍
Tip: Launching with the propellers folded can be done, but unfolding them first makes for a much more smoother and accurate take off.
I learned one new thing. That the gimble returns to horizontal position before landing
Me too
Proud owner, but I wish the Spark had a little more ground clearance. I have to use aftermarket leg extensions to give me that.
