Barry Hearn offered to fund and take over the BDO and they refused. The BDO is the future for young players coming through. No Lakeside means this organisation is doomed.
Doomed anyways since they are no longer sanctioned and the pdc now have the youth tour
Maybe Barry Hearn sees the value of BDO youth players and tries to step in. The game has to evolve and the BDO is important for that.

You don't generate income, you get paid less. Simple as that. When ladies generate as much revenue as men do, then we can talk.
It's about time the WDF now got off their arses and make a legitimate effort to recognise and work with the PDC to bring the Men's, Women's and Youth/Juniors sides of the sport to the highest level.
BDO started to die before the split happened because Olly Croft refused to see the bigger picture and chase after the TV companies, he expected the TV companies to come to the BDO and that wasn't going to happen.

The BDO should be ashamed of themselves. These woman have been traveling around all year to make it here and they change the venue and cut the price. BDO is going backwards for awhile now and I wouldn't be surprised if this is the last BDO World Championship. Disgraceful imagine a players husband having to set up a Go Fund Me page to try help raise the money for them
And you were right BDO is now dead and no Worlds this year or beyond
next year they will be holding it in someones front room to get a better atmosphere
She had her shot at the PDC 10 years ago and she wasn't good enough, so don't get all green-eyed when Fallon takes her chance.

Although Ana didn’t take her chance whilst at the PDC I do recal she beat a guy way before Fallon ( Vincent Van De Voort)
Ana can play better than this and I think the bigger venue has a lot to do with this,even Mikuru only averaged early 80s and she’s better than Fallon.

Pretty bad of Ana to suggest that Fallon's performance at the worlds didn't do anything for the rest of the ladies darts considering the spotlight that's been put on the ladies game in the past month and the interest that will increase in the ladies game from here out. But if she wants to get salty bc Fallon averaged mid 90s with 50 percent checkout over 15 sets winning two games against a young up and comer and the 11th seed and giving the 23rd seed a good game whilst she won 2-0 averaging mid 60s in front of 50 people then thats her decision.

not against the men as far as i can see, but she can make a good living getting through a

Very well put. I too have followed, and played for the same period. Great to see what Barry Hearn has done with the PDC. But it makes me think when the 16 players broke away from the BDO in the early 90s that that was the start of the demise. I recall players back then saying there was not enough drive to promote darts, and get tv tournaments, which would enable the players to earn more money, and that is exactly what Barry Hearn has done with the PDC. Shame to see the bdo in such a shambles, as there are plenty of good players still there.

Don't blame her mate, there's a lot of excellent ladies players, not just the one.
Women have always complained about equal rights with men in sports. Tennis star Serina Williams is a perfect example. The fact is Barry Hearn as made it quite clear that the PDC is unisex. If your good enough then there is plenty of money to be won. The problem is many talk about how Fallon Sherrock has opened doors for women's darts but its not true. All it has done is shown that the women's game is actually quite poor. 60 Averages in a World Championship is woeful. It is barely youth super league level. Sherrock has proven to be an exception averaging 90+ over 15 sets against 3 different opponents on the biggest stage in darts. The only doors she has opened is for herself. I just speak my opinion as harsh as it may sound but the standard I have seen from the women in this tournament I feel they should be over the moon at the fact they are actually getting any type of prize money. Chris Mason said years ago that the BDO is car crash darts, And it were far better back then, then it is now. The BDO is dead. And women should play with the men or be happy that there actually getting TV time with car crash entertainment.
I'm not a darts fanatic but have a reasonable interest in it and you have just said what I've been thinking for the last few weeks. If the girls are good enough to compete then their is money to be made.

I do think the ladies should get prize money respective of they're viewing figures. e.g half the views of the men then half the prize money.
Same with womens football, they don't even have a quarter of the viewers man have and bring in no money from merchandice, plus the stadiums are most of the times almost empty and add to that the skills are not even close, but they want the same amount of money.. Come on now😆

Bdo is archaic, £8000,for World champion is rubbish, 50 grand for mens champion is poor but i suppose theres no where else to go as these players couldnt cut it in pdc, and they know it! Moving venue was huge mistake!

So who is behind the lack of women darts funding? I think the funding should be same as the men we know they are just as good and more exiting. The crowd showed how much people watch Darts there should be more bigger venues and also more clubs pubs involved with darts. Times have changed Darts should had been in the Olympics anyway and should be valued as much as other sports of skill like Tennis for instance shooting of all kinds including bow and arrows. The dart skills are about numeracy as counting skills as well as aiming and throwing actions. Snooker Pool all have skills similar. But darts is control over actions doubles and other events too. These days darts should be multimillion pound prize-funds just stupid this has not happened.
What do they want everything handed to them? Poor entries in women darts, no decent sponsor is interested due to lack of talent & entertainment. Anastasia was in Fallon's position many moons ago, a PDC experiment. PDC promoted her, PDC golden girl. She failed to grasp it.

@@tomasmorrissey7324 Historically the women have always moaned about prize money, but the fact of the matter, regardless of who is in charge, entries for women comps are low & sponsors are not interested in the women game. It has always been like that, even in Ollies days You cannot pay out what you don't have. Only the women themselves can change that, by upping their standards & entertainment factors, then the sponsors will come. But it won't happen, all we will get, is petty jealously over Fallon & moaning in interviews.

this is the worse crop of players iv ever seen at the new venue its awful very low averages its county standard, mr hearn should take over the bdo and plough money into the amutuer game i knew it was bad but not this bad its a total mess, prize money, players pulling out, the venue, the ticket sales, the attendances, the tv coverage not being on the bbc, a tv on the stage floor for the scores, its painfull watching it, absolutely no inspiration to the next generation of players and it will get worse before it gets better
