Heat transfer by conduction - Demonstration and explanation
For the demonstration, a candle is the heat source and we can see the transfer of thermal energy along a cooper wire. Candle wax is holding some paper clips to the wire. As the heat moves along the wire it melts the wax and the paper clips drop. Students are asked to construct an explanation for why the last paperclip does not drop.
I used Jamboard to briefly explain what is happening at the particle level.
