Tell Danny Ainge to take a hike. Go with Post and keep all the treasure. As a fan, I'd rather see what happens with Steph, Podz, JK, and Moody. JK and Moody have huge upside. Markkanen is no guarantee of a title anyway -- buyers remorse.
The average dumb fan does not know that Dunleavy cannot assemble a veteran, winning team chemistry. Hope springs eternal. @@kjm85 I am ok with the team not winning another chip. The Warriors are the 3rd most winning franchise in NBA history and this team gave us 4 chips in 8 years. Do I want them to compete, of course I do. But I rather have them compete with Strength In Numbers than throw away the entire future for a player that hasn't proven anything at any significant level. I rather have the Warriors build through the draft then by trading the entire future, because through the draft is how we created a dynasty. Trades don't create winning dynasties, the draft does.
@@kjm85 and you are right, Bob fled a sinking ship. Mike is doing what he can with what he has and he is actually doing a good job too. We have a better team than last season and he managed to do it while reducing the team salary instead of increasing it.
The deal is not just Moody. Its Looney and GP2 which are expiring contracts which is beneficial to the Jazz. Jazz want and need to tank. Im not trading for Lauri at this point.

I wonder if Ainge actually wants to extend Lauri, like I get the timeline aspect interms of Lauri's age and where their rebuild is as well as the accumulation of picks, like Lauri is easily 40+, I assume the reason they aren't pushing for Kuminga is they'd have to extend him just like Lauri which makes you wonder just how much does Ainge believe Lauri is worth in terms of their cap space percentages or is he going off the fact that everyone is enamoured by the idea of a Lauri Markkanen who has never played any kind of winning basketball, look at guys like John Wall or Bradley Beal outside of stat padding settings, Lauri may be a good player in a winning setting but is the idea of him a lot more enticing than the actual player. I don't know if Ainge wants to extend him to a Max because wanting Podz is a move to keep your salary low for at least 2 more years as you tank, if you pay Lauri you can't then just tank when the salaries of John Collins are fairly high, Clarkson and Sexton as well or maybe Ainge is daring enough to shut his guys down for 3 seasons in a row
Johnathan Kuminga is going to be a superstar, and now he'll get the time to show it.
At 7' tall he was better shooter then Steph last year except free throws. Steph 92% Lauri 90%. I cant believe we even have a shot to get this guy. He is young and gives us a real future especially near term which Steph deserves.

Ainge has 20-21 seasons as an executive/GM and has a single championship to his name . Not scoffing at the championship from 15 years ago, but he moves like he created a dynasty. Why does he think he’s the smartest guy in the room everywhere he goes?

If you really want to win and continue to give steph a chance, youd give up Podz for Lauri any day. Podz wont reach his potential (huge maybe) until Steph retires. This is your shot at title #5

Those 1st round picks GS has are not great for timelines I think. They would be good for Warriors timelines.

How will he be easier to trade after they extend him? His salary will go from 18 million to 40+ million. It will make it so much harder to trade him to any team that would be willing to get a guy like that. I’m actually not surprised or attended at the offer. It should have been expected. Why?because of who is in Jazz front office. That may very well be his ideal asking price; but also definitely a negotiation tactic. He may be okay with 2 of the 3. But he knows GS would have never released Pod or JK if he didn’t counter this high. Annd, if he really wants JK, it’s good negotiating to through in another name to have the psychological advantage of making the other party entertain choosing between 2 options, rather than just shooting down one proposed scenario.
All in all, warriors to me have made it clear they want to win now and maximize Steph’s window, and giving up the picks supports that. They would also love to keep JK and Pod as their upside is high. The experiment of blending the old with the new talent is mostly over.
Question is, can they resign both Jk & Lauri at potentially the max or close. I think if GS were part with JK it will be because of that.

He is not Booker, AD, etc. The Jazz may not want to trade him but they also probably dont want to pay him 34 mil over the next 4 years. Ainge would not have been putting him on the block if it wasn't an option. What I can see Ainge doing though is because he wont get what he wants from the warriors he will settle for some trash package from another team and claim it was a better offer just to save face. Or sign Lauri anyways and try to tank with him. Stubborn for no reason. Just like the Clippers and PG13. Cut off their nose to spite their face. But it is what it is. Jazz can keep him.

Ainge wanted to trade for something he thought that he could win with. There is no such thing as something for nothing in a trade. Dunleavy needs to wise up. To be fair, give Bob Meyers credit. Steph Curry, Bob Meyers and Steve Kerr won 4 championships. Mike Dunleavy, Steph Curry, and Steve Kerr cannot even make the playoffs. The GM compiles, and keeps, the veteran team chemistry together. The average dumb fan does not know that.
