Now that the family is together let’s get a live fundraiser going so we can speed the process of the trip to America!!!!
I concur
I second this motion
Someone started a GoFundMe for The New Zealand family they were reluctant but it worked out great. A couple of months ago I told Jono about it fr my other YT acct. but he said he wouldn't feel right asking us his subs to pitch in like that. I totally understand what he means, but it has to be done right and approach the right way. If we can do this then the Graham family could come visit the states and enjoy our culture for a bit. If any ideas how to get this done please speak up. I thought about maybe contacting the man that organized the GoFundMe for New Zealand family to see how he convinced them and got it rolling. I'm pretty sure their GoFundMe was over 12K at the end. Just saying hope we can really do this, such a great family and they really deserve it. Peace guys.
But who's gonna be in charge of the Go-FundMe for this idea?
@@AC-ni4gt I'm not sure, first we would have to see if Jono and Kat would approve. And maybe Jono could. I'm not sure if they could being in Slovakia I do know the New Zealand family had to have an American host GoFundMe because they couldn't not sure if it was a GoFundMe rule or what. Just need to approach Jono the right way and ask. I guess if enough of us ask him he might consider it. I think it's a great idea. Just not sure what to do. I can't remember her name maybe Val or Valerie? that has sent them several boxes. I think she would be a great candidate to host GoFundMe.
So nice to finally meet the Mrs. It's great seeing the whole family reaction.
@@DeAnne1233 Some creators strike videos. Pausing often may help them inadvertently avoid a strike. And their input is literally what this channel is about, btw.
Finally, the boss has made an appearance. Good to see you in a video Kat and as always great reaction from the entire family. You definitely need to push this channel more on the OG channel.
NYC is a wonderful city, but keep in mind that Texas has 3 of the top 10 largest cities in the U.S. which means lots of shopping. Something to note is that Texas is considerably less expensive than New York when it comes to shopping and dining.
New York is overrated
@@jaylo-ov9fj so is Texas. You can say that about any place lol....how about we focus on the positives on each place and not try to trash a city we don't like...
@@Vendrix86 thank you. There are positive and negative aspects of everywhere in world. The family is debating whether they should travel to NY or TX. I was simply tipping them off from my experiences. I have lived and traveled all over the USA and parts of the UK. I have fallen in love with everywhere I've been. Watching this family's videos, they seem to have a divided interest between two locations for different reasons, and after paying attention to their interests, Texas would probably suit them well on a budget that would allow much more diverse experiences: Ocean, lakes, desert, big cities, hill country, vineyards, wildlife, cultural diversity, and all well under the budget of NYC or California. They also mentioned Louisiana, a Texas neighbor, and east Texas celebrates the culture and cuisine of Louisiana.
@@wendellgee11including Utah?
Austin is amazing. It’s the only city in Texas I’d suggest. The biggest cities in Texas are a nightmare. Expansive, horrific traffic, horrible public transportation and they are hundreds of miles apart. I’d vote NYC, but you’ll love Austin as well.
Very nice to see your lovely wife joining you. I understand her being camera shy, I am myself. But she is gracious and lovely. Hope to see her again and maybe it will be easier for her.
Indeed!!
The family reactions are great. For those that are alone it's fun to watch.
Will sort out camera angels etc in future videos, Kat and I were very nervous today as we have never filmed together... 😅
The entire family did great. Keep pushing this channel on the OG channel and think about doing a live. There are plenty of us willing to help facilitate the US trip.
Oh my, Jono, Kat is not only beautiful but a lovely woman. It was wonderful to have her part of the videos. I hope Kat will know she is among friends here. I must say aa someone who has lived in both Texas and a suburb of NYC, Texas, would be the ideal family vacation. There is fantastic shopping in the cities. The Galleria in Houston has all sorts of fantastic stores but an ice skating rink as well.
You didn’t look nervous but Kat did. Now good luck with convincing the girls that Texas is better than NYC for shopping. Now on the flip side, NYC has a decent bbq scene including Korean Bbq, which is really good. Plus there is a Cabbala’s within a few hours of NYC.
Y’all did great!
I would like to second the idea of doing a live once you get this channel monetized.. or do it on the original channel. Memberships with members only perks would be a good fundraising opportunity, and if you do a live video, there’s chances for super chats and super stickers
We all want y’all to come to Texas sooner rather than later
Y'all did great. Cant wait to have ya in America. Sending love and prayers from the Ohio Valley 🙏🏼 ❤
Uncooked whole briskets, here in Texas, average about $35 (I was pricing them at our local H.E.B. grocery store, recently), which equals approximately 32 Euro (1 USD = .91 Euro). Smoked brisket in Texas can cost $20 - $30 per pound (1 pound = .45 kg), depending on where you buy it. Some BBQ joints are more famous than others, so price can vary due to popularity ..... Not necessarily due to how good their BBQ actually is!
What they don't eat, they can take home with them. It's very common in the USA to take home what you do not eat for leftovers later on. Cornbread can be sweet, but I prefer it not very sweet. It's good crumbled in beans, chili, stew... it's very good. You can cut it in half & add butter & eat like bread. To die for.
Ah yes. The doggy bags/take out boxes.
Yes you can take things to the hotels which usually have microwave oven. Just spritz your plate 🍽️ with a wee bit of water then heat it up. Keep in fridge for a day as mini fridges are in every room. Stay at La Quinta, Best Western or Red Roof Inns for the best room rate. Happy travels, Graham family!
Same; the only sweet-ish cornbread I like, though I rarely eat it, is corn muffins. My dad makes some of the best sticky cornbread....I'm craving some now. 😅
Tell the girls that every major shop in New York (Macy's, SAKS, etc.) have shops in Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio as well. Remember these three cities in Texas are in the top 10 largest cities in the country!
Hoping your channel does very well!! As a Texan, myself, I'm glad you started with our State, and our favorite food!
Great to finally meet Kat! I’m sure NYC is a great experience, but there’s no place like Texas. I enjoy all your videos and hope to see more of y’all.
Dave
Great to see the better half finally! Your kids are great too. A ”couple” of things”:
1. In the Midwest, we can get a decent brisket for about $4 / pound. That’s not free, but we also use the brisket in our chili and stew, and… you get the idea. It’s a game changer.
2. Most Europeans I know (and I lived in France and have traveled extensively) all believe that the US only has an east and west coast and nothing in between. The middle of our country has sights just as unique and amazing as the edges and every region has unique cuisine and cultural traits.
3. I didn’t care for turkey for 57 years. Three years ago, I bought a smoker and smoked my first turkey. It is now required that I smoke the turkey each thanksgiving. It is so tender and juicy that there is absolutely no comparison.
Kat! It's so good to finally meet you! Jono, let her know what a great addition to the channel she is. Looking forward to this 'New' family channel. You're greater together -- thank you 🙂
As a Texan I can say most tourist really should visit New York City first. However, there seems to be a strong urge to do Texas first. You could do both. Get a good travel agent to look for the best flights to Texas with a few days layover in NYC. Maybe coming & going. For the ladies there is some very nice shopping in Texas. Some is very exclusive like in New York. I think you will get your fill of shopping in either one. Not in rural Texas but not in rural New York either.
Texas has far more shopping opportunities than New York. Plus the people are nicer, the scenery is better and the cities are cleaner.
Terry Black's is world famous. A few days ago, Your New Zealand family, another You Tube family from New Zealand, went there on their trip to the USA.
Hope you'll enjoy your visit to the US. We might be hated, but Americans for the most part are great.
When you guys visit, I hope you'll see a sporting event. We are passionate about sports. I see Gavin with a Bass Pro Shop #19 hat. Ever saw a NASCAR race? I know Europeans love F1 (so do I) yet NASCAR if fun...especially the Daytona 500...
@@arthurpasseri4590 who is Terry Black?
Little Mr G should have his own show for kids! He can talk all he wants and he has a keen eye! Mrs D
Pause everytime! Talk over the video! This is a Reaction channel! If you wanna watch the original, links in the description.
I’m from tx. We eat bbq like this maybe 3 times a year, it is a special occasion kind of thing. I’m sure some people eat it more often but it’s so rich and greasy you could burn out on it easily. Not to mention that is about $100 worth of bbq on their table.
Yay Kat!!! BBQ is way better than shopping😂
Please remember that New York is far more than just NYC. LeRoy, is the home of Jell-O, Rochester is the home of Zweigle hot dogs, Buffalo is the home of chicken wings. We also have Barilla (makes pasta) and Kraft (lunchables, cook whip) in Avon. You can also see Niagara Falls near Buffalo, Baseball Hall of Fame near Cooperstown, Corning Museum of Glass in Corning, Letchworth State Park ("the Grand Canyon of the East"), and many other state parks. We are home to the Finger Lakes which boasts a large number of amazing wineries. We have Bass Pro Shops in NY as well as Dicks which is quite similar. So please .. when you talk about NY remember there is much more to the state than just NYC.
Very nice to meet you Kat glad to see the whole family!!❤❤ I'm in ohio and I say absolutely Texas 1st trip
Just to let the ladies know, you won't find any stores in New York that doesn't have an equivalent in Dallas. Dallas is huge.
Happy to see the whole family, especially mom. Please come back.
Awesome, Kat it is great to see you. Please keep appearing in other videos in the future.
Nice to meet you Kat. Please come to Texas and be part of the Lone Star family.
So happy 😊 to see the whole family 😊
Some people make their cornbread sweet, but more often than not, at least in Texas, cornbread is salty and buttery. Either way, it’s delicious!
Great reaction y'all.
I am from Louisiana and I definitely recommend going to Texas!!
Here in Texas San Antonio Austin Area.. our local grocery Store (HEB) has untrimmed Brisket for $3.60 a pound.
Right now in Florida beef brisket is $5 per Lb. So about $12 per Kg
Yay! It’s great to see the whole family.
Come visit Texas and you might decide to stay. Jono, if you know a butcher, have him cut out a brisket for you. They probably grind it up for hamburger.
It's so nice to meet Kat, the Graham Family Rocks. Keep the videos coming ❤.
Brisket slab here is $23 ... $7 per pound ... uncooked. My dad prepared it by marinating overnight in Italian salad dressing in the frig ... vinegar tenderizes it. Then regular BBQ grill for some time. In an oven it takes 3-4 hours.
Your family is beautiful! Yes, Mealie bread is very similar to corn bread. There are some southerners who prepare unsweetened cornbread but many people enjoy sweetened cornbread. There are versions with corn kernels, cheese, Jalepeño etc.
Nice to finally meet you Kat.
This was such a fun reaction, so happy Kat decided to join in. She seems like an amazing person and a beautiful lady. But I bet Garin gets put in the dog house for that rice comment 🤣🤣and it would be well deserved for a small time. I know kids are just sometimes too honest, but Kat is right, there are many varities of rice and they all taste different as well as sometimes need to be cooked in a slighty different way. This was a wonderful first on this channel, at least the first I have seen. Take care all, such a great family and respectful kids overall.
Nieman Marcus' flagship store is in Dallas. The ladies could shop til they drop...
No matter where you go in Texas, whether big city or small town. Every single place will have a Barbeque place that will have awesome foods that showcase the different cultures and spices of their area.
America is so blessed to have every ethnic group on the planet and try different foods ❤
Absolutely. I can say I’ve had delicious authentic food from every continent (except antarctica)
The bread is a napkin that you eat. It is there to clean up the juices. We call that "Sopping it up" here in the south. You need the bread to "sop it up". :) Bread is not so much a part of the meal as part of keeping it clean and not wasting much. Not polite to lick the plate, but it is perfectly fine to wipe the plate with a piece of bread and then eat it.
Great to see you on screen Kat. The hardest one is now done and you did great.
Cornbread is a combination of sweet and savory depending on how it’s made. Also it can be very dry or moist like a banana bread or a cake. It’s really good especially if you actually put frozen corn in it.
here in the hills of Kentucky we make two types of cornbread, sweet yellow and ( non sweet) white cornbread with a very thick and crunchy crust made in an iron cornbread skillet.
The only time sugar belongs in cornbread is just enough to cut the potential bitterness of the corn.
From New Mexico: even better, green chile cornbread!
If you put niblets in cornbread, you're a monster. It's like putting raisins in chocolate chip cookies, just disappointing.
For shame!
Southern cornbread is not sweet Northern cornbread is sweet and it’s not good no sugar added in southern cornbread
Welcome Kat! Glad to see you exist. As a Texan I vote for you to visit Texas first, but New York is awesome too. Just have to do both! A whole uncooked 12lb brisket is like $48 ish. dollars.
Congratulations from Lubbock Texas! Nice to see you all together.
Hey friend! Nice to see someone from my neck of the woods! I live out in Morton, an hour west of you.😅
You are one lucky man! What a gorgeous lady!!! ❤❤❤❤ love seeing her one here!!! She is shy but has great presence!
In regards to Kat's reference about the peach cobbler looking similar to Apple pie, there are minor similarities between the two.
Though, to be fair, there's a pretty wide variety of cobblers, most of which have some type of fruit, such as blueberry, apple, or even cherry. There's also a chocolate cobbler, as well
Just adding a comment to say, you don't have to worry about making long videos. The point of a reaction video is to see your reaction and hear your perspective. So being at 7 minutes after 3 minutes into the video is no problem to me! Go as long as you want. If other people don't like it, they can skip ahead.
Gavin is such a bro. Nice to see the whole family together.
Texan here.
Cobbler is an inside out fruit pie (peach, apple, etc). It's a different experience from a pie because you taste the "pie filling" first and the warm bits of bready crust are layered in. Always served piping hot and goes amazingly well with ice cream.
The Mexican Rice is flavorful and fluffy. You'd like it. I was a bit taken back when everyone said what they'd try and only mentioned one or two. It all slaps hard, trust me.
Cornbread is closet to a corn muffin, but not quite. It's extremely moist and the amount of sweetness varies greatly from recipe to recipe but there is a least a hint of it. It's served with butter and occaisionally honey and meant more as a side dish rather than a desert.
Texas has a rich heritage of German immigration to certain areas of the state, some communities of which still speak a hybridized version of German that has been passed down, hence the propensity for sausage and craft beer (shiner bock). These are two of our finest exports.
So glad the family has a channel now. Looking forward to you eventually making it to the USA regardless of where you go. I highly recommend Kansas City. I am bias, but we have our own BBQ style as well as many places that do a great job of other regional styles. We also invented burnt ends, and our shopping is solid. :)
If you are willing to do the work (doesn't take that long) and have a sharp knife, you may be able to buy untrimmed brisket cheaper and trim it yourself. That may not be available to you there, but is how I usually purchase it in the US and it's about half the cost. Typically here in the midwest I see 8 or 9 USD per lb trimmed for you or 3 to 5 USD untrimmed, which means you have to do it yourself. You do have to cut a KG or more of fat off of it depending on its size, but it saves you a lot of money and there are plenty of youtube vids showing you how to trim it down properly.
Brisket in us is about $60. But it’s meant to be shared. At least 10 servings for sure
How wonderful to see your entire family!!!
Texas first there's so many shops for us ladies. Love From Michigan and it's a cold and snowy Evening.
Glad to finally meet Kat. Beautiful lady and family
First video on the channel ever and subscriber # 702.
Not bad.
Gonna come back and rewatch it when you hit 702k
Cheers from East Texas.
The guy who sent you the new streaming mike/stand about a month ago from your wishlist.
Oh snap! The whole gang is here. Much love from Tennessee! Love the channel guys.
Texas sends Prayers for the Tornado victims. 💔
I love your family, it is clear who is the rock in the family! Jono, your wife did a fantastic job, I would have passed out the minute the camera came on. ❤❤❤❤
Nice to meet you Kat. You have a beautiful family.
The bread is called Texas toast and is absolutely amazing. It's not going to be like any bread you've had before. A lot of places make a brisket sandwich with Texas toast.
Mieliebrood is very similar to our corn bread here in the U.S. Great video with the whole family.
What a beautiful family! Kat is lovely and it's so nice to see her!
My husband is from South Africa and I am from the US. Corn bread is similar to mealie bread. Brisket is very good, but personally I prefer some boerwors and pop any day!
Your Mrs is beautiful love the reactions and your family
We went grocery shopping this morning. I saw brisket on sale there ( usually they don't sell brisket ,you have to go to a butcher ) It was 4 pounds for $64.00 ,marked down from $ 82.00
Welcome Kat! Awesome to have the whole family together!! Super random but your sons voice reminds me of the voice of James in James and the giant peach haha
Smartest thing to do is what the Jolly guys did. Get a some of everything and then everyone samples it all. Bread automatically comes with bbq. This way people are able to make a sandwich with the meat. I live in Colorado and when we order bbq, we get pulled pork and pulled brisket. We use the meat on burger buns add some sauce and enjoy.
A prime brisket even at Costco probably cost over $100. Choice can be around $80-100, and select from Walmart is around $60-80. I've gotten Choice brisket for $35 at a store that had them over %50 off.
What a fun video! Nice to finally meet the whole family!
So awesome to see your whole family!!! Love you all!!!
The thing about turkey is that the white meat cooks faster than the dark meat so by the time you get the thighs and drumsticks done, the breast is overcooked and dry. For Thanksgiving, my brother has a technique where he puts the turkey, breast side down, into a shallow ice bath. That gets the breast really cold so you have a fighting chance of getting it out of there before it's overcooked.
Cheers guys. It's awesome to see the family react together for the first time 👏🏻👏🏻 keep it up guys 👍🏻👍🏻
After the BBQ and Bucees, don’t forget the Tex-Mex and southern comfort foods like chicken fried steak. Taco trucks and soul food are necessary, and I really hope y’all can come during crawfish season.
Oh, and Blue Bell Homemade Ice Cream.. I’m not even a real fan of sweets but that ice cream is special
I love this. Good to see the full fam!
So South Africans watching and reacting to Brits trying American food. Well now that is what I call multi-national!!!!! 😆
And Jono used to live in the UK and I believe someone said Kat is from Slovakia (i do detect an accent). They sound like the UN all within one family 😆
Spot on @channelthree9424, I was born and raised in South Africa, moved to the uk at 19, met Kat at 21, and we moved back to her home country of Slovakia 3 years ago
Kat!!! Welcome!!!
Go to the south. Tons of shopping and it’s a so much less expensive than NYC.
I really don’t understand why anyone would complain about reacting on a reaction video. Silly people.
Hi, from Colorado, the best Turkey I have had is a deep fried Turkey, throw the whole Turkey in a huge fryer of oil. So moist and good.
Two kinds of corn bread. Sweet or sour. the sweet is like a dinner roll. The sour is for putting on chili con carne. When I was 14 I could eat 13 tacos.
Great to see the whole family, keep it up!!
So happy to see the family together ❤. Hope you have a lovely weekend.
The beauty of Texas is that you don’t have to go to Terry Blacks BBQ to get what you might call the “best BBQ” there are so many fantastic places
Texas has numerous amazing BBQ places. This is an enormous state too. West Texas with the borders is best to avoid. I’m East Texas and I won’t go to there at this time. I used to love to visit NYC, but things have changed so much in the last few years.. do some reading before you think about going there now. I won’t go back unless things change.
I cant wait to see your video documenting your visit to texas.
LOL😂 !!! It’s Texas everything is huge and big in Texas!!! They don’t do small !!!😂 have to do the peach cobbler, cold slaw, beans, ribs, brisket and if Leia wants the bread make a sandwich with the brisket!!!!❤
Peach cobbler is a dish usually using canned peaches, brown and/or white sugar, cinnamon (or similar spices), and a biscuit type dough. It is baked in a bread pan or similar deep baking dish, so the top crust is golden-brown. You guys would probably call it a pudding. It isn't too far off from apple pie, in the sense that it's fruit and a crusty breading.
Welcome Kat! So nice to see you relaxing with the family. I would have the Pork spare ribs and corn bread mostly. I live in the Pacific Northwest in Washington but no doubt the south is elite at BBQ but I've some amazing ribs here as well. But seeing you here in US enjoying whatever you like would be awesome to see. Gavin is a great conversationalist and I can see him having a channel of his own some day.
Just so you know, America is very spread out. The different places you may want to go in Texas could be hours away from each other so plan accordingly.
Definitely Texas!! I've been to NYC many times and don't know why anyone would choose to go there if they didn't have to.
I just looked up the Menu for Terry Black. You can get a small family dinner, meat and sides included. Enough to feed 5 to 6 people 137 dollars US.
Bro you have a beautiful family. Your all excellent examples of how a family should be. My hat off to you. Amazing content. Can’t wait to see you all eating your first BBQ. Hopefully in Texas. Thanks for sharing
I love this so much!! Hi Kat ❤
ALOHA family!! Good to see you all together.
Oh man I can't wait for this❤
Really fun video!
Great to see the Mrs!! Jon you have wonderful family!!
For like a family vacation I’d absolutely say Texas, there’s almost always something going on that the whole family would love, and specifically downtown Houston almost always has an event of sorts, roller skating, lantern releases, concerts and more, one time the concerts were free and had very big names, im not sure if that was a 1 time thing or if it’s something reoccurring, there’s also the aquarium and many museums that are so fascinating and the last time I went to one they had this thing where once a week the museums are free and if you’re up for a longish drive there’s Galveston near by, not the most beautiful beach but it has a really nice atmosphere and it has a lot to do as well, there’s pleasure pie/ Galveston boardwalk with lots of cool stuff. Also the kids museum is so so cool, I never got to go but as a kid I desperately wanted to, it was what kids dreams are made of.
In your community post I had mentioned the Adirondacks (after a few days in NYC). Anywhere you go in the U.S. will have plenty of shopping. But maybe a little extra incentive for the gals to be convinced to go to the Adirondacks so you can fish and enjoy the outdoors - Lake George in the Southern Adirondacks is home to "The Outlets of Lake George" known for its extreme discount shopping for name brands and some designer brands. 😉
Love the family reactions
it's lovely to see your better half.
Great to see the whole family together!! Peace, Love!! I would go to Texas first (but I grew up in Texas, so I'm biased). I drove around (literally) NYC when I was going to Maine. I no longer have any desire to visit NYC. If you want to shop for European stuff, go to Paris as opposed to NY. As far as rice...Red Beans and Rice or Louisiana Dirty Rice with sausage!
So good to see the whole gang!!!!
