Incredible service you provided!! I always wonder about the REAL Japanese New Year Gift quality fruits (and other things - don't forget the dry squid! Lol!) And like you said, whenever I get a really really good fruit, I think, "This is Japan New Year Gift fruit quality!" I am always seeking it! (Obsessed - like you!) I have seen the beautifully packed box of $34 (I think) pale strawberries recently at our one new larger Japanese market in Boston but nothing like the quantity of fruits that you get on the West Coast. And there are lots of videos on those strawberries that LOOK so perfect and they all say that they are not really that sweet or juicy....There are probably REAL good ones available through some source in Japan. I hope so! I'm going to do more youtube research now! You say you tried some in Japan. Were they better than the imported ones...?
