I'm falling in love with Malaysia traditional music and culture, it's unique. And i love at the starting of the song they sing it like 'AZAN ', i love it so much. As evident from the song, Islamic elements are inherent in the traditional Malay songs. 'Ghazal' is a type of poem, singing and song-writing originating from the Arab continent making its way to the ancient Malaysia in the 7th century. Maybe in the future, you can review many more songs written by M. Nasir; his songs are rich in influence and diverse in styles. Another Malaysian singer that you should discover is Zainal Abidin - he is the only singer in Malaysia (and perhaps in the world) who fuses Malay pop with African musical vibes, thus creating a genre known as 'Afro-Asia'. Check out his song titled 'Orak-Orek' (meaning 'Haywire' or 'Helter Skelter' in English) which was released in 1993.

This song was composed by M. Nasir. It was combination of Latin or Flamenco and Arabic rhythm which the influence came to Malaysia during those days. The Latin sound was originally from Arabic sound when Muslim were spread out their territory to other continent. For Malaysian the sound of music basically more from the Arabic side because of the Muslim culture of living.
