Be careful what you wish for. Tourism has completely RUINED more towns and countries than you can count. It wouldn't take much for that island to start looking like Miami Beach.
As someone living in Curaçao myself, when I first saw the title-- I was definitely a bit confused. I was always taught that if you wanted to have a good time (especially in the capital), you better go out with more than 25 Florin...and then I remembered that $15 is like Fl. 27,- here, which definitely makes a lot more sense lol. I thought this video was gonna be like 4 minutes long or something. Was concerned for a minute there.

I live in Curacao and the lady from the smoothie truck makes some BOMB smoothies. My go to place for smoothies 😋
When you visit Playa Piskado please please please be mindful! Follow the rules of the beach and please park your car properly. It honestly is getting out of hand by all the people who want to visit the beach and it gets over crowded. People are parking quite literally in the middle of the streets or behind other cars and its creating massive traffic jams and havoc. The locals of Westpunt are getting tired and closed the beach on several locations.
Also, they totally ripped you off with that coconut 🤣 you can find coconut for $1 to $1.50
Kenepa grandi is AMAZING but sometimes it's too crowded. I recommend visiting the one next to it, Kenepa Chiki which has the same crystal clear and turquoise water and tends to be less crowded.

There was a time when I was young that ALL the beaches used to be free, it was after Curaçao started to become a popular vacation destination around the 90th that the government decided to make people pay to enter the beaches, which sucks, but I am happy to see that there are still some beaches that are free, also, that blue room cave, its dangerous, I personally know people that have died there, so It's definitely not for the faint-hearted, thank you for showing off my beautiful island and allow me to enjoy watching my lovely beaches while I tremble away from the cold here in Europe.
Most beaches in Curaçao are free, with the exception of some (like Mambo for example) but It's still just, not enough to make people mad and/or concerned. Plus, let's be honest here-- most paid beaches aren't usually visited by us locals for that exact reason. Especially, since a lot of us ALREADY live next to some (free) beaches ourselves. Thankfully though, after living here for so long, many of us have found a system/way to enter some beaches for free. (would love to give details on that, but I'll take it to the grave lol)
I don't know about the blue room cave, but I've read that air pockets do not necessarily contain air/oxygen, only bad stuff. So, be careful people.

Wow Ethan! I feel as though you really hit your stride with this vid. I love seeing you do what interests you, so having this kind of DITL vid felt both personal and entertaining. For my viewing preferences, I felt you hit the sweet spot with the editing. Clips of the places you visited that were just the right length to give a feel for the island, but still move the vid along at a good pace. I also liked the font for the titles as you added up money spent. The music was used well, and it was fun to see your interactions with other people. While I've been enjoying all your videos because they seem authentically *you* this one not only provides plenty of personality, but shows how you've progressed in producing content. Although, you might think a typical day where you don't do much is boring, I'll bet I'm not alone in being completely curious and would love to see a vid like that.
Now I can hardly wait until January to see what you'll be doing on your new channel!

The languages that we are speaking more is Papiamentu (our language), Dutch, English and Spanish. There are some other people that can speak French and German too. Curacao has more than 35 beaches on the south side.

After I did my doctorate, I got hitched and traveled the world for 3 years. Started in Hawaii. Hitchhiking and camping. My post expensive daily cost was my camp site. And there were days where you went to town to do laundry and shop for a tiny amount of groceries. Mostly, I enjoyed dive-snorkeling. And I could spend all day snorkeling. Packed a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Then, at sunset, I bought a 40 oz. of beer, a fried chicken thight, and some poke. Best time of my life.
How did you afford it? You no work 3 years just life of leisure?

Also the beaches there look even more clear which is a difference. And more tall cacti there. I love the coconuts you can drink from too. In hawaii i drained out the juice by stabbing each end with a clean screwdriver. Yea probably not the right way but just put it over a small bowl and the liquid comes out 😂. For me the issue with living on an island was cost of housing and social life was difficult, as well as finding things to do when actually living there a long period of time
