Whenever I hear Joel Grey say that Wicked has more "sophistication" I can't help but feel like he is one of the Broadway snobs people always talk about. lol
Can they please just make this into a movie before Idina and Kristin can't do it anymore?!?!??! With the right makeup they could still pass for "high school-ish" age girls at the beginning. It just needs to happen for my life to feel complete!
"Which Way is The Party" is the "original" song that's in the place of "Dancing Through Life" but the producers decided to go with DTL(Dancing Through Life)

Stephanie was the ORIGINAL Elphaba in all the out of town try outs/pre-broadway run....she was replaced by Idina when the show moved to Broadway. Tragic. She took over the role when Idina left (I saw them both and know Stephanie) and she was MUCH MUCH MUCH better!
@@RCurtisLambert I wish Stephanie was the first Elphaba, since Defying Gravity was written for her AND the role of Elphana was written with her in mind! She's also the greatest nicest person and she deserves that Tony so badly, i hope she wins for The Cher Show!

I seen the play Wicked!!!!! at the Kennedy Center In Dc last night and it was very beautIful, romantic, tragic love story with a happy ending when Galinda and Elphaba was very close best friends at the end of the play!, the scenery and special effects was so awesome I would love to see the play again REAL SOOOOOON!!!!!! =))
i really wish they had stuck w/certain things they did in the workshops ('which way to the party" , dance sections, etc), but they know why they did what they did, and it's given us what will surely be a classic american musical for the ages :D I LOVE WICKED!!
My 11 year old daughter is obsessed with this show. She saw it once in Providence and listens to the music constantly and knows all the lyrics. She actually sings pretty well and I think would be perfect for Glinda! Maybe she can be in the movie! That would be amazing!
I thought this play is really good and Idina does have really soft voice. Which this really suprised me just by watching this and she is trying to be herself as well
Wayne Cilento was hand-picked by Michael Bennett for the original cast of A Chorus Line. Respect him, as he's forgotten more about dance than you'll ever know.
Although she's not trained per se, its nice to see some of the experience Stephanie has in dance. You can see it in her Dance O' Death number in 9 to 5. And the female dancer with the curly hair is Ioana Alfonso, who is with SJB in 9 to 5 as Maria!

And I think it should be in British (accent). That would be so cool!!!! Imagine if they got people who've never done the show before, they might be AMAZING! x
Idina’s new documentary Which Way To The Stage sent me here! The cast recording of Wicked was the first time I heard her sing. A little while before Frozen. Without Wicked, my love of musical theatre would partially never have happened. By the way, Norbert seems to be having a ball in those rehearsals. And the song had to be replaced by Dancing Through Life which I always loved.
Boy it's good they dropped "Get Me to the Party," what a dog of a song. They also really worked on making Fiero much more attractive too (costumes, hair pieces...) Definite improvements!

@atheneum7 exactly. also for a movie the songs will probably be pre-recorded and tweaked and it just won't be the same. like you said with the flying scene, it's great to see that live but on camera anything can be done using green screen and all that. the cast won't always be together like they would be onstage or back stage. they would show up to film their parts and then leave so less bonding. there is so much that would be different.
when Elphie is just stood there laughing at Galinda at 2:31 i can just imagine her like redoing it awkwardly to try to make her laugh at herself or something, you know like "BOO!" "AH!" "hahahahaahaha!! you know *pretends to "boo" her again* boo....your face..."

This was a good rehearsal, they were very prepared to be on the stage, back in 2003, the musical was extraordinary fantastic and spectacular.
