    I think YG started panicking honestly. To lose the members of his most know and respected boy group (Big Bang), to lose the entirety of Ikon (which honestly surprised me I really thought they’d just disband and go solo), to lose his arguable favorite and a fan favorite (Yedam and Mashiho from Treasure), and there’s no way YG hasn’t seen the backlash that Blackpink has started to gather. And on top of all of that the other companies, even the smaller ones, are absolutely dominating with their GGs rn. He had to start panicking. So what do you do when your image is going down hill fast? You debut a new group to take the attention of course. SM did it too

    I believe YG has never been a company who cared about their groups but rather the popularity they bring. A lot of these groups have the ability to make it big but making it big isn't necessarily everything to a group. I can see that a lot groups want to be more active and release more music but they aren't because the company wants to push them and feed off their popularity (like brand deals and music collab). While other groups are left to be never heard of until god knows when they decide to have a comeback. Seeing people leave isn't surprising but it's unfortunate especially to those who wanted to stay with their groups ,,,and for those who left together as a group to continue and pursue a better outcome for themselves and for their group.

    i think hybe accumulating many successful companies and becoming so prominent in the kpop industry so quickly has hugely changed the ‘big 3’ dynamic that these companies were so comfortable with. this could be conjecture but i think sm, jyp and especially yg are fumbling with not having that immediate privilege and prestige that their groups would receive upon debut, and now fans and executives are having higher ever standards than before

    • @imani7979
      @imani7979 Před rokem +32

      exactly, they can't rely on being a big three company alone anymore, it might give them initial success with a big debut but if they don't keep up then even their groups will fall to the wayside. it's actually kinda nice that they finally feel that pressure again.

    Don't dig too deep, because the worms just get bigger. Everything YGE does is to make YGE MONEY. That is all they care about. Little things like Pink Venom was supposed to be 16 tracks, but YG cut it in half and sold the other songs to different labels. Ji Soo's solo was supposed to be in 2021, why hold it back? Rose' project has been in the can since the end of 2021, and they are holding it back. Lisa has work that is being held back and her sponsors are NOT happy with YGE. Well, none of the big name sponsors are happy with YGE. Jennie's American Drama had to pre-release information because YG let her involvement slip out, and Showtime is not happy with YGE. Everyone knows they are the biggest K-pop GG and coming into contract renewal or not. So why is YGE holding everything back? Because YGE own it and is using it as a hammer to keep the biggest GG in check. This is not a new ploy. All of BP has said they cannot wait until this concert tour is over so they can move on to better things. And think on this... YG's head producer, the pedo he is, has been banned from Las Vegas... I mean it is called sin city for a reason, and he has been banned. What is happening to YG... infighting between a bean counter and a pedo for control of the company with BP in the middle. Yang thinks he can wash rinse and make a new BP the way he wanted it in the beginning. some interesting differences. YG own BM, Jennie own BP name. They have ben fioghting behind the scenes to get writing credit for many of their songs, where YG will own all of BM's songs. Again this is all about MONEY.

No company is perfect, but I think with bigger ones since they have solidified their impact the industry, less care is given to their artists/staff.

  • @Guthwulf11
    @Guthwulf11 Před rokem +47

    My theory would be the opposite to yours. The leaks and rumors "forced" YG to rush the debut of Baby Monster and announce it now (which also explains their young age). YG wants to distract from all the bad news regarding iKON leaving and Bigbang members going to the Black Label. They also might want to get at least some leverage for their contract negotiations with Blackpink. Even if Blackpink doesn't leave YG it might make more sense for them (and be good for us fans) if they go at least to the Black Label under Teddy.
    A lot of recent debuts (like IVE, Lapillus or New Jeans) had at least one member being 13-14 years old and it isn't completely new as well (see BoA or Hyuna). It is just as irresponsible as ever and a trend, that has to stop. But sadly their young age didn't hinder the commercial success of these previous artists and groups. If we now criticize (and boycott) YG because of it we also have to criticize (and boycott) all these other companies. Everything else would be hypocritical. If it where up to me, I would make everything below 17 years illegal, but that will never happen as long as these companies continue to have commercial success with these tactics.
    As for Baby Monster: I'm curious how they will do in todays landscape. All these new (monster) rookie groups (especially IVE, New Jeans, Le Sserafim, Billlie or CSR) have very distinct concepts very different from each other. Nobody of them does hip hop focused concepts though. There might be still room for Baby Monster to have their own identity in todays landscape keeping YG's tradition alive. We'll see... Just don't let Teddy produce their songs because it would be to similar to Blackpink. Should Blackpink disband at some point (which I hope they don't) then Teddy can come on board, but not before.

    So this is just my theory but I believe baby monsters were not meant to debut this year or any year. Then what exactly transpired that made yg debut them hastily. Well the answer lies in hybe or ador. So basically when newjeans debuted and caught controversies due to them being so young, a lot of people did agree that this is something unacceptable which led to a lot of people literally boycotting them. But, the story took a turn when newjeans literally dropped one after another lit songs, like u cannot unheard them. Which made the whole controversy and boycotting thing disappear in thin air. After their debut, nwjns has not for once disappointed people from their music, charm, talent and age. They proved everybody wrong and became the monster rookie.
    So now, how exactly this has to do anything with baby monsters? Well, I believe the nwjns success despite them being so young and being accepted by people made yg think, hmmm 🤔 so underage idols can work, so why don't we do it too. And they did. They chose the perfect timing, threw some info of members so that the group could be in news for some time, giving them some attention and finally garnering fans at the time of their debut.
    If I am not wrong, baby monsters' debut was not happening due to their training and age. But once nwjns debuted, yg couldn't stop anymore and without thinking much debuted an underage girl group.

Idols are a teen drive fanbase that's why in Korea it's not taken seriously, it's a fandom filled with teens so basically it is profitable to debut young idols who represent their fans age! We don't actually know anything about BP yet though. Their contracts aren't up yet. Its too early to say they won't move to theblacklabel. Also the ACTUAL statement that was given wasn't exactly a denial. A lot of media sites just reported it as a denial instead of giving the actual statement that was given. I'd hold off on any assumptions that BP won't be moving their management grps.

    iKON signed with 143 Entertainment; the CEO is an ex-YG producer and already knows the members well. It seems like 143 they wanted the six of iKON members to signed with them and stay as a group just as iKON members themselves wanted.
    Also Bobby completely left too. The thing is that there's a clause that said that if any member resign, then the rights of the group will stay belonging to the company. That's why if they wanted to stay as a group, the six of them had to leave.
    Now, only two months since then, Bobby is about to have a comeback (in March 21th) with his first single album and he'll have his very first solo concerts in Korean and Japan. iKON is expecting to comeback in April with a mini-album and there's a lot of confirm group activities: kcon, festivals and even THEIR FIRST WORLD TOUR (YG could never). Even Jay is expecting to release his solo debut this year and it's most likely the rest of the members will also have a lot of individual activities (dramas, movies, modelling, etc).
    Definitely, iKON's future is so bright right now. Please look forward to them!!!

    But how am i supposed to take seriously or "fear" the underage baby girls ? because we all know they will sing with a "getho" concpet, saying they will end us. since Yg can't do any other concept than 2ne1
    Even blackpink true's personality made them kinda silly... I mean lisa saying "ain't money out of me" when she got scamed by her ex-manager and doing aegyo don't make me believe the line like " we got bodies on bodies" but whatever...

    What a ridiculous question, "Who in here is a YG stan?" The whole business model for YG is premised on fans hating what YG is doing to their beloved artists. Which makes fans support and love their Kpop stars all the more and spend more (i.e., make YG richer). Think wrestling, it is the heels (the bad guys in the script) being so obnoxiously arrogant that makes watching and cheering for your favorite wrestler so entertaining. Think action movies, without a compelling villain you have nothing. Without a menacing all-powerful Darth Vader, you would not care and cheer half as hard for Luke Skywalker. A better question is "Who is your favorite villain company in Kpop?" I will bet YG wins by a mile.

    I think I do stan yg in terms of the style of music they do, not in the way like cringy lyrics and songs that sounds very similar, but the overall vibe they going after with their idols, chill and cool and somewhat badass in the natural sense and not a fake one only for one concept as some other companies do. It's consistent with them. But I do hate them cause they literally make idols spend their best years waiting for those few comebacks in their life. I think they totally ruined ikon and it's one of my best kpop groups ever. I wished so much they would do more songs for the boys but after I'm ok there was not anything decent and comebacks were so damn rare. I think hybe is the second in my list with the music that I enjoy like majority of songs they produce are nice listening experience. And jyp and sm are not this consistent their concepts and music varies so much that it's difficult to always like what they doing. Though with sm I appreciate that they always either choose vocally strong idols or train them well. But I don't like the intensity some of songs because they always have to show off how good their idols are in screaming in the background. But yeah I certainly vibe with yg, but except the image and music style there is not much to appreciate

    The age depends mostly on the concept.......honestly new jeans have a teen concept,beside the interpretation of cookie by intl stan most of their concepts and choreography is simply a Disney concept,it's not alluring/sexy or mature so no reason to drag their stan! There adults who enjoyed elsa!
    I think they moved to the black label because Teddy worked with them for years, they have more connection with his company than the new team under yg! Even bp who r under yg work exclusively with Teddy so obviously they r used to his studios, I mean they always worked with Teddy not yg!
    Ikon released many songs, they had their own producers(B.I) he was the one who made their music so if he had made 1 hit it doesn't mean he always released bangers!! Kpoppers always blaming the company for the release of a flop song is frustrating cause ikon were responsible of their music not Teddy (winners too) yg didn't mistreat them they just never made good music to attract fans,they had more regular cb than bp!! Yg will not keep supporting a group just because they had 1 song topping melon!! Winner had many cb and they r popular but their songs still not charting as they did with 1 or 2 tracks!
    Baby monster will debut with a bp concept(they did say they will have yg vibe) it is sexy and girl crush for sure! If Teddy is responsible of their music its pathetic cause we already have bp and somi with the same sound! People complained about bp repetitive sound, people called somi tracks a bp reject songs.....yg need a distinctive sound for their gg, it doesn't mean they will flop if they do so,but lately rarely a gg maintain their momentum and fall off the charts after 1/2 years......

I mean we saw it with nct Dream ranging from 14 to 17. the difference isn’t that big, but knowing YG, it will have the YG factor, the YG vibe. It won’t be like chewing gum. I think they will go the BlickPink, 2ne1 route soundwise because it worked in the past.

BigBang is no more (as much as it hurts to say this as a VIP), 4 out of 5 members are gone, so there's no reason for GD to stay there. He could be thriving with solo music outside of the dungeon.
