Great footage , the music suits it perfect and so does the mood of the sky
Thanks Peter. The two songs are Outward bound by Headland and Scuttling by Jon Summer
Great views! I especially like the top down views and the hyper lapses!
Thanks for the review its appreciated. Sorry to disappoint you, but this time around I didnt use any hypelapses
@@droningwesternaustralia Ok, maybe it was a time lapse in the second shot but it looked cool! 👍
Thanks. All I did in those videos was to speed ramp. Haven’t really tried either time or hyper lapse
Some great shots there. would have been cold for the crew with an open bridge like that ! 😮
I think the bridge might have been enclosed back in the day. I could be wrong tho
Another vessel that should be kept in a reserve fleet
Unfortunately we don’t have a reserve fleet. Some of the Navy reserve units used to be lucky and had an old Patrol Boat but that was years gone by, I don’t think any reserve unit have their own vessels any more
What a waste, she could have been leased to Canada!
She was built in 2004, served for 15 years before been decommissioned in 2001. When she was purchased she was a stop gap measure between HMAS WESTRALIA and the new Spanish designed Auxiliary Oiler Replenishment (AOR) Cantabria Class
@@droningwesternaustralia Actually, at the time, she was just intended to replace Westralia (former RFA Orangeleaf). All comes back to the shortsighted decision to build only one of the Durance class (HMAS Success) with the much later decision to purchase Orangeleaf (already well worn by that time), seeing the penalty in cost of maintaining two separate types of ship. Initially this was due to the introduction of a second Fleet Base and the need for this form of platform needed on each side of the country. The purchase of Sirius just continued to compound the problems associated with maintaining a single ship of class. The later, final determination to purchase two new Cantabria class (at least) introduced a common platform for streamlined maintenance process and cost, it is just a shame that it was not three class vessels (two in service and one under maintenance/refit).
