    Brand new '22 Q60 owner here. My car is the RWD Red Sport 400. You made this video for people like me. I am shocked my car doesn't have an LSD. I will definitely install an aftermarket one.

      You would have thought that would have been one of the most perfect things to add to the Redsport to fit in with what the approx $10k extra. It would not have cost Infiniti much to spec this from the factory and would make me and likely others more motivated to buy the Redsport. I still to this day have not seen a Q50 3.0T owner shoot before and after video after getting the say the Z1 helical LSD, the best version. How wonderful would it be to see some real world test per dragy times from a fair and unbiased youtube for this platform. Our cars leave almost identailly timed tire marks so VDC/traction control/ABS brakes seem to be doing a pretty good job. Spending 2k with install needs to return about .30 sec off 0-60mph to make the expenditure worth it in my book. What would be super cool would be an e-locker to fully lock up the rear diff. Flip a switch open/locked.

    There's aftermarket options available or you could just go the cheap route and weld it. Yea it will be a bit annoying at low speed turns but it will work. It might even turn it into a awesome drift sedan. That's a extra bonus. It will work perfectly for launching the car which is what you need.

    Just got my Q60 Red Sport and was also disappointed that it has an open diff. Eventually I'll try and find a way of getting an led conversion done in Australia.

      I'd sure like to see a before and after video involving these 3.0t platforms. Not from just a road course racer or drifter enthusiast but from an actual daily driver, common person's experience what they noticed and then data/Dragy results would be great for 0-60 sprints.
      I don't need as much the LSD benefits for putting power down coming into and out if corners and this is where the LSD's really appears to shine from Z1 Motorsports company.
      My car leaves two rear tire marks so the car's electronics are working very well to negate the one wheel peel. Big question before I spend $2,400 is will it pretty drastically help my rwd gain improve on a better 60" and improve 0-60 and quarter mile times? My luck, I'd spend that money and see very minimal gain from what I'm already doing rwd tuned 3.9 - 4 sec 0-60 and my best 1.92 sec 60 foot.
      3.7 sec 0-60 mph and 1.6-7 60 foot on the street then worth purchase.

    Spoke too soon on the economy. You jinxed it with the nod to you know who. I guess we know who's to blame for the economy we have now 😉🤣. Good content btw. I wish there was more competition in the JDM crowd. My LSD for my Impala SS was $500 bucks. $1500 with almost no marketing or videos is ridiculous. Must have really took a huge hit on R&D.

      At least the Red Sport 400 model should have come with LSD, more solid subframe bushings and a more capable/larger heat exchanger. That would be a hard car to beat for an over performer in oem trim off the dealership floor.

    I had Lexus IS250 which has horrible vdc in terms of acceleration control a specially in corners. Then I installed torsen from GT86, and difference is huge in corners.
    Regarding Q50, I have 3.7 and when I got it from USA I had similar issue with wheels slip on 2nd or even 3rd gear. I changed stock 17 inch wheels by 19, I bought pirelli p-zero nero gt tires and car flies now. There's no slip on dry asphalt even on first gear. Vdc works very well on wet road and corners, I hear that spinning is shifting from one side to other, vdc is not cutting power too much and allowing tires to slip, at this time car is accelerating quite well even in corners. So Q50 3.7 has really great vdc and it is quite close to lsd performance. So try to install good tires)

    • @GettingthruLife
      @GettingthruLife  Před 4 lety

      I am currently running the P-zero Nero summer tires as well. I put them on the car with only a 2-300 miles on the car. I didn't like the run-flats. With the base 300hp set up the VDC can handle that power. It's not a bad system just like the transmission but add 120 hp and 150 lb-ft of torque to the mix and it's too much for the ABS brake system to handle and for good reason. I can to my senses and most likely will just accept the this shortcomings as I'm not a serious drag racer. What I'm likey to do is go 275 width rear tires and go ultra grippy compound. That should help. In my recent 1st and second launch control CZcams videos the car's traction system is mustering R&L tire burnouts. I was a little shocked.

    Would a g37 vlsd diff fit a q60? It Would be a cheaper option. You could buy a used one from a junk yard.

    • @GettingthruLife
      @GettingthruLife  Před 3 lety

      It is possible. The sad thing is there's plenty of ways to do things like that but I have zero experience. For some people things are second nature and it's easy. I've thought about contacting a or some salvage yards for a Q50-60-RS diff and buy that and then send that into Z1 motorsports for a build LSD and still retain my 2019 factory diff.
      The diff route is just pretty expensive and the way things have gone for 2020-2021 Im glad I've hung onto that money.

    For a tune, full bolt on..400-450whp street daily, do you think a lsd worth it?

    • @GettingthruLife
      @GettingthruLife  Před 4 lety +3

      No, it doesn't work out for me to get one. Is it worth it for some with certain needs?...heck yeah. Likely more worth it for the person with money to burn or they saved money by buying a used, lower condition 3.7/3.0t and they just want to max out the potential/push the level of this platform.
      The estimated cost of the Z1 Motorsports LSD trade in package with oversized shipping, tax and install...$2500. A expensive modification for casual use (non professional/daily use) unless there is a side option to get one for much cheaper.
      I likely could install the Z1 Motorsport's pre-built LSD option because of my recent Z1 subframe bushing collar experience which would save money, but still an expensive mod for the "casual" weekend drifter/drag/road course enthusiest.
      I fully believe that a good LSD would help a car such as this. The Red Sport 400 should have been equiped with one for sure for it's added price.

      @@GettingthruLife yeah..I was thinking of buying a used one. Your right I agree with you. Ams/wavetrac has one for 1500$ I think if you get up to 500-600hp then it would make more sense.

      @GettingthruLife  Před 4 lety +1

      @@wongchai807 Yes, not needed for the 300hp non-performance car because that car's computer, power output, and the boost level with ABS can modulate the rear end to appear to lockup and not a lot of traction issues. The Red Sport in stock form is not really out of the car's computer realm to use brakes to modulate that power but it's on the very edge or slightly beyond. Low hp 3.0T that one benefits from the less noise and more comfortable ride with its open diff. The Red Sport 400, people buy that specifically for more spirited driving and faster 0-60 so a disappointment Infiniti dropped the ball. If anyone mods their car above the Red Sport then in the grand scheme of things the LSD is like a must have to benefit the most from the money and time spent to go even faster with just that intent. All performance minded cars should come factory with a LSD. All track/spirited driving/drag strip gurus will notice benefit but there is $$$ involved and not everyone can justify that expense per how long they plan to use/keep car. Once you sell the car that money you put into it so typically no added value that you get back, so money out the window. That means the person has to spend all that time taking all their parts off and selling them which some do but many do not. I sold my Ford ST with all it mods left on beside wheels where I told the dealer not leaving the wheels where they swapped the tires and gave me my 5 month old TSW Nurburgring's back and I sold them for $900 a few weeks later.

      @@GettingthruLife right but I mean if you tune it along with downpipe and exhaust your going to push 400-450ish whp so that's quit a bit. If you track it and you have the money I can see getting it. Yeah pretty much anything you put in is for your enjoyment, modding, making it yours. But as far as getting your money back, no way lol. Spend wisely, and enjoy the car..it was never on my radar but i saw a tune and exhaust and your up in the 400whp and that's enough for me. Plus the use car price is very,very reasonable for what you can so with it. Not looking to dump 7-10k on it. I'm a honda/lexus fan.

    • @GettingthruLife
      @GettingthruLife  Před rokem +2

      To be honest here is what I think 3+ years later. I considered the LSD upgrade many times and had the Z1 Helical diff in the online shopping cart multiple times waiting to hit buy now. After thinking a lot about it and much deliberation, I don't/didn't think it was worth the final cost for me. Sure, if I had many thousands of dollars to blow is will add some benefits but nothing monumental. Also, depend on really what your end goal is. putting together a pure race car/track car then yes a piece of the growing puzzle along with the other 6-7K in other needed suspension/wheel/tires/driveline upgrades. From what I have best determined is that mechanical LSD's shine more for road racing applications and for high-spirited driving in turns.
      What I've tried to do over my time is pay attention and observe this car with its VDC, ABS, TC and its torque vectoring traction. It is pretty good for general use and up to pushing the car's limits 300-450 whp. My car the 2019 3.0T sport variation "signature edition" always leaves two identical rear wheel tire marks. I have video's it in slow-mo too showing instant twin wheels spinning/losing traction. The cars electronic systems works fairly good. Does that mean the ABS is so instantaneous that it's draging the rear brakes to to get both rear wheels to do what it does, likely some of that going on or wheel speed sensors? I don't feel any real power is being pulled away from this car by the use of the ecu's vdc/abs/torque vectoring attempt to maintain the feel/appearance of a locking differential for straight-line gain.
      Likley more benefit for the folks that are into high-performance driving on curvy roads and track attack driving or just like a very road-worthy sports car vibe. Everything I read about the various types of different LSD's , it was more based on turning ability and putting power down consistently in the transition of the turns. Sure, again some minor gain in a straight line but for me the small gain =/- wasn't worth me spending another 2.5K to try. (purchase the pre-built Z1 LSD differential, shipping both ways, tax, and install time or install fee)
      Where I think money is best spent is invest in the best tires for your intended fun/goal, and get some high quality/lightweight wheels (minimal 10" wide rear with right offset. A track - handling based Q50/Q60 then go 9.5 wide fronts with 255/275 tires. My preferred wheel and tire setup for just pure street light to street light fun would be: Weld Racing Forged Belmont style ultra-lightweight wheels 6-7" wide fronts and 10-11" wide rears +50 offset (and) Mickey Thompson street racing front lightweight front DR radial tires and the great ET Street R street/drag radials or their newest ET Street radial Pro in 275 up to to 305 width.

    • @GettingthruLife
      @GettingthruLife  Před 2 lety +2

      My tuner Hussain at Racebox is ontop of my tuning. This car has electronic wastgates setup by the tuner to control all aspects of boost. All the top infiniti tuners agree that blowoff valves are not needed or encourage any longer. Blowoff valves compete against the car's computer/ecm and cause confusion. This is part of the reason why so many people have turbo related problems.
      Instead of listening to uninformed people on forums that think they know whats best, I listened to one of the top VR30 tuners who has access to my personal datalogs.
      People running JB4's probably are the one's with improper setup because their cars think they are running factory boost levels per the factory tune.

      @@GettingthruLife Obviously i struck a nerve. Lets throttle back on the defensive tone.
      Im glad you and Hussain have it figured out, whoever that is. My point was only that the EWG only controls one part of pressure and thats post turbo. Anything built up inside just wears on the turbo itself. Its why wastegate rattle is such a huge issue along with the fact that your car continues to accelerate after you let off the accelerator.
