If Julie Andrews should win then Tony voters should have still voted for her regardless if she declined it. The body of work should speak for itself and not the campaigning.
Julie would have just sent the award back. Donna is a national treasure, but I think she was probably a little embarrassed over the circumstances. She did have the grace to mention Julie in her speech - even before her husband!
I love how Liza threw shade by screaming "Fabulous show!" when Julie's name was announced.
yeah, the nominators really shot themselves in the foot by snubbing Victor Victoria. Go Liza!
Donna Murphy is really a wonderful actress and singer.
Kelli O’Hara received the same reception when she got the tony 19 years later.....wow.
You can tell by the look on her face she was completely shocked.
so many people saying julie andrews would have won if she hadnt declined the nomination but i think donna really deserved to win that tony.
I know of her because of The Gilded Age on HBO!
Didn’t Julie Andrews decline her nomination for Victor/Victoria? Why is she mentioned as a nominee?
She just declined it, but the Tony still had the right to consider her as a nominee, I guess.
Her name was still on the ballots. The Tony awards kind of refused to acknowledge her refusal.
Did I mumble mother...?

I am guessing when Donna Murphy was backstage, she was thinking this award doesn’t belong to me. Everyone knows that award belongs to Julie Andrews!!!

Julie Andrews should have won this if she hadn't declined!
Julie Andrews would have won if she didn't contest her nomination.
