when the trailer explains the story without giving anything anyway, you know it's going to be good
Just go read the story it only takes a second or two. Probably written better than the movie anyway.
There’s a long form article about these cases I remember reading a couple of years ago. It’s really infuriating and well done
not true all the time. V for Vendetta trailer reveals much of the plot but it's still a good movie.
WOAH I GOT THE LIKES FROM 1.8k TO 1.9k
It was excellent.
"So he doesn't have a type,"
"Sure he does -- women who live alone." DAMN
Wow
“Even with people that you can trust, if the truth is inconvenient, they don’t believe you.”
That last line got me. We do everything in our power to find ways not to believe rape victims, despite their being so many.
Dumb Head Pure Truth!!!
Lol, so many people have their lives destroyed by false accusations, because it has become guilty until proven innocent in the court of public opinion, and even after it's found out, they still can't get a job or move on with their lives. Pretty sure we believe too much. It's supposed to be innocent until proven guilty, not innocent until someone says otherwise.
@@Rspsand07 even MORE people have their lives destroyed by actually being raped. You can't even compare, the numbers speak for itself. Every minute or less, Women/children etc are raped everywhere worldwide, pretty sure that's more concerning
@@Rspsand07 people can't even go to jail for being falsely accused of rape since proofs are needed like semen. You actually acting like people spend years in jail for being falsely accused of rape. Not even when it's TRUE they spend much time in prison, unfortunately
BTW, people FALSELY accused don't have records, they don't stay in the system.. so don't give me that "hard to find jobs" shit
@@ksarah6565 There's something worse than going to jail-losing your family, friends and everything that you built up through your hard work just because someone accused you and the society decided to trust them blindly. Even if you're acquitted, the stigma remains. So believe her, once the crime's proven. Dont believe someone just because its a woman.
That's what authorities do. When they can't fix the puzzle.. It means it's made up.. .it's sad
After that, they wonder why people want to make their own justice lol
Or the jam the pieces in place and we get wrongful convictions.
Yup, unfortunately I've experienced this very thing. My case was dropped the day before trial because the Crown Prosecution in the UK believed that "there wasn't enough evidence to give them a high probability of conviction" - no conviction means they lose money, as well as having to spend money on the trial. Apparently DNA in a car, me identifying the 3 men, AND a video of them assaulting me isn't enough. I was then forced to be interviewed again and harassed by the police with them trying to find ANYTHING in what I said to prove I was lying. I ended up receiving a letter from the Prosecution saying that "I would probably agree that due to my choice of clothing and admitted intoxication (I was honest about having had 2 glasses of wine - at no point did I express I was intoxicated because I wasn't), I must have provoked the assault." My case officer called me 1 month later apologizing to me for everything, and saying that "it's a very common occurrence, as sexual assault is the most common crime in the UK, and the crime that is increasing the most exponentially, yet it is the MOST underfunded department in the entire system". She also shared with me that along with my case, she alone had 18 other sexual assault cases - so there is no time or resources to give everyone a fair trial. It's appalling and disgraceful. Money from this apparent "war on drugs" needs to be moved into departments that actually require it. And investigators need to start treating victims with respect and compassion - rather than shaming us and treating us like criminals, and adding to the level of trauma which will then need to be healed.
And doctors too...
Yasmine Miles I’m so sorry that happened to you ☹️❤️
OMG!!!
"even with people you can trust, if the truth is inconvenient, they don't believe it"
Talitha E. That shit hit deep.
Where is the outrage? Indeed. "Its not something people get over, it's something they carry with them"... As a rape victim myself I can attest to that
Me too. 😢
Why not post it? I don't understand. Hugs to both of you
Drewski J how dare you tell them what to and not to say. They have the right to speak out. And I agree, the world is a dark place so why create a facade to cover it?
@Drewski J There will always be a few haters, but the more we talk about our experiences, the more that the majority of people seeing her comment will understand how prevalent of a problem sexual assault is.
Proven Rape Victim?
Kaitlyn Dever got me on short term 12 and now this can't wait to see more of her dramatic side she's an amazing growing actress
She was great in justified
I know, I've been keeping track of her since I saw that movie and love that she's finally getting out there!
@@jamesdesomma3639 I didnt watch this one I will now thank you
And that she can switch right back to comedy when she does an episode of Last Man Standing.
She broke me in Short Term 12. Her acting was wonderful for someone so young. I haven’t had chance to watch this yet, but I can’t wait.
I remember hearing about this story on a podcast! It's crazy how one of the victim's wasn't believed because she was viewed as troubled
Can u remember what podcast it was?
Yes! It was an episode of This American Life titled “The Anatomy of Doubt”
show? ppl r freaks who need death
@@Scourge88Monastik14 Thanks for stopping by.
I’m really late here, but that just shows how misogynistic the system is. It’s made against women and minorities. It’s disgusting enough to make one feel so small and powerless.
Toni Collette got robbed being passed over for Hereditary. Love her.
Lemons McGee absolutely agree
Complete agreement. I will watch this simply because she’s in it. She is magnificent.
She's good in everything she's in, but she was especially amazing in Heredity.
I read that article when it first came out and have gone back to it a couple times and each time it cuts me up. This story will make you angry, but there is thankfully vindication (which many survivors don't experience). So thankful for women who have fought their way into the system to work on these cases. Only when their is more parity in power will people be treated with the dignity and respect they deserve.
After Booksmart I would truly watch Kaitlyn Dever in anything. This looks like a fantastic series that will make me so angry. Count me in
Laura Egan I’ve been a fan since her turn in Justified (season 2). Just amazing.
She's a great actress
Toni Collette? Heck yeah, I'm in. 💜💜💜
Mona Deleon And Merritt Wever ah I missed her so much 💟💟
I've loved kaitlyn since Last Man standing and now she plays in a thriller, so awesome to see her talent crossing between genres!!!!
Kaitlyn Denver is going to win an Oscar one day
Kaitlyn Dever and Merritt Wever in the same project? Hell yeah, I'm there.
I was raped in college with no evidence to back it up, and the guy was so popular that nobody believed me. I’ve lost so many friends who were blinded by his good looks and charisma. Now I transferred to a new school, made a bunch of friends I’ll keep for life, and a boyfriend who I love. However he still haunts me in the back of my mind and when I go to sleep. Found out a couple years later from a college friend that he’s a loser drop out, so all wasn’t a total loss. Karma is real. It doesn’t just happen in movies kids. Not everyone who are what they appear
Kaitlyn Dever is really coming into her own, very happy for her...and I would watch Toni Collette read from a phone book.I adore her!! She should have won the Tony for THE WILD PARTY.
I’m a simple guy I see Toni Collette’s name I click
Likewise!!
same here ... ever since muriel
Was so excited to see Kaitlyn Dever in a Netflix series, but after this trailer I’m not sure if I can handle watching this series personally. Glad she’s moving on to great things, though. Especially ones that tackle hard subjects. Nothing worse than being a victim and having no one believe you.
Kaitlin stole Justified every episode she appeared in. Future multiple Oscar winner.
This is based on a true story. The story was told on an episode of This American Life
What is the name of that episode?
@@sareeyarizwan3499 It is called Anatomy of Doubt
Did the my catch the person?
@@christinab89 yes but not quick enough
I saw Kaitlyn Dever and Toni Collette in the title, clicked, and unsurprisingly, am not disappointed to see them starring in another potentially great work. Truly excited for this.
Wow, I read about this case a while ago and (to be honest) I never would've thought it'd be made into a Netflix series.
Alva Cardona what’s it about? Explain pls lol
Anything with Toni Collette- I’m here for it. Love all her projects!
When I listened to the NPR story about this exact case and the young women’s family didn’t believe her and the cops made her out to be a liar and pressured her to recant I was SOOOOO ENRAGED! I hope everyone who watches this listens to that original story because it desperately needs to be heard!
All those amazing actresses in one series?! I can't wait!
Finally!! Something that looks interesting to watch!!
"Where is the outrage?"
Damn that got me.
Loved Kaitlyn Dever in Justified and ever since. And Toni Collette; say no more, I'm in. I'mot sure why Netflix didn't inform me of this series in one of their many emails
Will be watching for sure.
Wow! Kaitlyn Dever is just killing it! What a great young actress!!!
Kaitlyn is all grown up! Been watching her on Last Man Standing since the beginning!
That last line sold me, I’m ready for this series
Going to Watch this, this looks good!
A story that needs to be told. Brava!
Toni Collette Merrit Weaver - sold (but damn that subject matter will be hard)
You had me at Toni Collette
holy shit, the cast ... and the trailer and premise look awesome, too!
wow Kaitlyn Dever is pretty versatile I'm impressed. Also this looks like a good movie
Love the trailer. Just enough....
I just read about this case and it’s so heartbreaking how the police handled everything!
I got goosebumps. 😩
Kaitlyn Dever is really doing some great stuff lately glad to see her grow as an actress
1:38 shows a map that says Lakewood and I nearly shit myself cause I live in Lakewood, WA
Myra Fehling there’s a lakewood, ohio near me i got so nervous for a sec
@@mikalahawkins7407 it be like that huh
Myra Fehling the struggle oof
Yeah, I'll watch this.
So glad they are making a film about this
This was on npr it was so sad. The victim was driven by the investigators to believe that she was crazy and doubt herself because her reactions after the assault were unusual. That and an ex foster parent doubted her. But basically she was so traumatized from her childhood that she didn't process it like some victims do. It was such a good interview. The poor girl was treated like a criminal
Can't wait to see this it seems really good
bring it on.
You had me at Toni Collette and Merritt Wever.
Have got chills all over...
Merritt Wever has come so far!! I've LOVED her since she played in my TOP favorite movie AND TV show; 'Signs' and 'Nurse Jackie' I just ABSOLUTELY love her as an actress!!
Female "True Detectives"? Yes please!
you had me at "Toni Collette".
Oh this hurts in so many ways. I want to see this. And I can bet my heart will be splintered into a million pieces.
This series remind me of Jeannie Mai's confession about the abuse she endured as a teen. 💔
You had me at the cast.
The truly sad thing about this story is:
The reason that they even picked up on this case was because two cops from different police departments were married and noticed that they had similar cases.
If it hadn't been for that, they probably would never have picked up the lead.
Toni Collette and Merritt Wever...someone's been reading my dream journal.
Very interesting! Worth watching in full.
Looks great! Definite watch.
I‘m so happy Merrit Wever is getting the opportunity to show her exceptional acting skills! This looks dark but good.
Looks so good!
This reminds me of the “unsolved mysteries” episode where the cops thought this woman was faking her stalking incidents and she later was found dead
It's maddening that something as SERIOUS and drastic such as DEATH or MURDER have to occur in order for SOMETHING to BEGIN to get done or have light brought upon it. What a world we live in!
Best series I ever watched!!!
Edit :Heard this on This American Life Hope Netflix does it justice!
581 Anatomy of Doubt This American Life
Lafamiliaburron I heard about this on This American Life. Mind blowing story!
what's the episode number/title? I can't find it!
@@TrueAffection Anatomy of Doubt Episode 581 -- This American Life (Thanks, CharyJay!)
Toni Collette
Great cast
This was an amazing series. I think Kaitlyn Dever, Merritt Weaver and Toni Collette were fabulous.
This show had me at Toni Collette.
I thought Kaitlyn Dever was great in Short Term 12 but I didn't become a huge fan until Booksmart. Love that film and her in it. Also love Toni Collette and Merritt Weaver was great on Nurse Jackie. Definitely a strong cast. I'll be watching it.
Mmmmm. This looks very interesting. Must watch!
Besides the fact that there are so many good things about this and many great actors, anything says Limited Series and I’m in lol
I try to avoid triggering movies like this, but this is going to be powerful and needs to be watched by women AND law enforcement all over the country!
Nicole Peters it’s a series, not a movie.
I will watch for Merritt Weaver! Omg I love her!!
great cast!
Toni Collette ..awesome
This looks great.
This looks amazing
Great cast.
Ms.Collette and a scenario of high interest and practically a free viewing of the film...hmmmm 😏I'm in!
Such a great series. Do yourself a favor and watch it.
it's so weird seeing Zoe from Nurse Jackie being serious omg
GOOSEBUMPS
Kailtyn dever and merritt wever were robbed during the last award season this was a masterpiece and deserve way more
I swear I was just wondering today what Merrit Weaver has been doing lately. She is such an authentic actor--- and a role I wouldn't expect her in. Really cool for all that, but the series looks amazing on its own. Its insight that more people need to look at and realize what their disbelief really means.

this movie is based on an investigation and book by Ken Armstrong and T. Christian Miller that looks at how reports of sexual assault are handled in the US (spoiler alert not very well) through the crimes of one rapist. it's a phenomenal story and great report.
Truth is this is also reality
OMG is that Elizabeth from new girl?!?😱
Kaitlyn Dever's great
That was actually a really good trailer
When will this be on Netflix?😍😍
wish that was a movie...
Praying this will be amazing and be Kaitlyn's worldwide break
Damn Murial has come a long way.
Name of the song in the trailer? Please and thank you!
