It's also interesting that he won't respond in English...this tidbit below about use of language seems to apply here:
"One might argue that the preferred language choice of any person is the mother tongue. Persons who can use their mother tongue can be conceived to be in a powerful position while the use of a second language always entails a certain amount of relinquishing of control."

It’s against the law to disrespect civilians. Endlessly Cursing at him, with assumptions and illegally searching his things. And gives him a ticket for a red light etc. he is a old disabled man. He should of just helped him cross the road. The point of being a police officer.

You can't have it both ways. If you believe people whom have disabilities should be treated as regular people just like they want to be treated, you can't tun around and harass someone for doing their job when the person, yes even one in a wheelchair, violates the law.

How fucking stupid are you? It's not that he ticketed the man in the wheelchair, it's that he treated him in an abusive manner. People with physical disabilities deserve respect like anyone else. It's also apparent he likely discriminated against him because the man was homeless. THAT'S the issue.

A Loonchild How stupid are you that you don't see that it was because he was treated in an abusive manner while in a wheelchair that people are upset about? The guy, while in a wheelchair did the wrong thing. I'm not saying that I condone the policeman's actions. I'm saying that people are upset about the wrong thing.

The Montreal police have been wearing various funky coloured pants (sometimes pink camo, whatever they want) for a few years now as part of workers' protest when the government screwed blue collar workers on pensions. Cops, fire fighters, public transit workers and others still have protest stickers everywhere on their buildings and cars. Even metro cars, busses, fire trucks. Do an image search for "Montreal police pants" - usually various coloured camo, but sometimes plain flashy colours or more psychedelic patterns. The red caps are part of it.

The racism is Montreal is on another level. Recently, a similar situation happened with the white police officer harrassing, grabbing and searching an innocent young man of colour simply because he was wearing a red coat. And I find it hard to believe that this officer would have harassed that man in the wheelchair if he was white instead of black.

Quebec is a microcosm of intolerance and classlessness. There is a reason an immigrant out of 3 leaves the province within the first 2 years towards either English Canada or the USA (and this since the early 80s). Love the way the reporter handled the situation. She made this officer squirm many times I had to watch it three times. What a coward this officer is he refused to even speak to the lady in English even though she said he can be clearly heard speaking English to the disabled man the day before. Miss reporter if you can hear me your effort to public shame this officer deserves a grade of A plus.. I believe this is one of the ways we can come back police brutality. Finding them locating them tracking them down and interviewing them on the spot applying the pressure asking the same questions that you were asking I believe putting their faces all over everywhere instead of the police departments hiding their identity. Keep up the good work I’m watching from America with amusement

If what she is saying is true (I can't locate the video that 60,00 people have seen), then he was most likely in the wrong. However, I think he handled the situation in this video well when someone confronted him while he is trying to do his job.

Agreed. Also, the copper was trying to control a crosswalk in heavy traffic. There was the potential of someone getting hurt or killed while this 'reporter' hounded him. There's a proper time and place for this sort of news gathering. She could have waited until he went off shift, and asked politely. She chose to be highly confrontational, alienating the cop and endangering the public.

Notwithstanding the cop's actions of the day before, this reporter is supposed to be neutral when gathering the facts of any story she is reporting on. All I saw was a pit bull on a pork chop. I think the copper had cause for arresting her sorry ass for public endangerment.
