another way is to put (x\x+1)=a and x/x-1=b so 1/a + 1/b= 2 then a+b=2ab and because a^2+b^2=12 you create an equation with only ab by doing (a+b)^2=4(ab)^2, 12+2ab=4(ab)^2 and you find ab=2 or ab =-6/4. Then you find a+b and a-b too and finally you find a and b, the rest is simple.
