I had to stop going to the thrift stores in my area about a year and half or two years ago because they are way way over priced. The low income people no longer go there to buy up there children school clothes or anything because walmart is cheaper than the thrift stores.the middle class and upper classes are shopping there now. I totally understand you having books at home that you need to read but yet wanting to look at the available books anyway. 😜 I have more books than I will ever read but I do love to look at them anyway. ❤️ BLESSINGS!!!
Granny Thank you for taking me to the thrift store. My everyday dishes were from a thrift shop. $.25 a dish. So I have 6. Your store has a good selection. You never know what treasures you will find.
In my area, it seems like there are more buyers who resell what they thrift. Whether new or thrifted, you need to know your prices and what you need and can use. I need to declutter a bit on stuff I'm no longer using and have dropped a size in clothes so need to see what I have (and have to get rid of) before I know what I might need. Awhile back, I had fun at a "fill-a-bag" summer booksale thrifting. You never know what you will find but yes, I leave stores without buying more often then before.
Really enjoyed the walk through, especially since my local Salvation Army thrift store is closing. I always enjoyed just walking around to see what they had, not necessarily to purchase anything. A cheap form of entertainment.
Love the thrill of finding an item at a great price in thrift stores! I have 4 puzzles from junk stores for something different to do if long power outages.
I am thinking about going to the thrift store to give and look!! I am just taking a break from picking berries the humidity and the bugs yuck........ fresh berry pie worth it!!!

I ran into a Goodwill once to get a little purse to put an FSU sticker on it for an Alumni party. It was a Prada! I could not bear to put a stickie on it! So I took an older burgundy purse and blinged it out instead with garnet and gold sparkle tape. My birthday is this week and a little neighbor of mine brought me some native American looking wallet set that I will bling up and put with it for games and parties 'n such.
Is it air conditioned?Sometimes its the thigs we dont need that make us happiest!I so agree about purses. I dont go around noticing who made your bag. A lot of the bags i buy at Burlington I get so many compliments on and they are inexpensive!
I have quit going to thrift stores. Other than the Salvation Army store here locally. Most of the stuff in the thrift stores are very close to the price of the items brand new at retail. I have seen an occasional good deal on the clothing. But most of it at goodwill here locally as an example needs to either be cut into rags or recycled. Last time I went in the employees were rude, prices about double what they had been a few months before. And they have gotten rid of their senior sale day. And cut back on their sales in general. Books have gone up quite a bit there. In addition, some office supplies, things like that were more than a brand new unused package of the same items at Walmart. So I took it off my list. I no longer take the time to go over there anymore. Better deals at garage and estate sales.
My local "thrift store" is right up there with retail -- so --- not being a fan these days. Plus, when you want to DONATE, they reject anything they don't deem acceptable -- yeah, I live in hellish CA.

You use your eyes, nose and common sense when buying at any thrift store or private sale. I have yet to find or get any critters or illnesses from my purchases. And I wash clothing and wipe down with sanitizers any hard surfaces once I get the items home.
