The story of the song ' La Foule ' - "La Foule" is a famous song performed by Edith Piaf in 1957. - The lyrics are by Michel Rivgauche and the music by Ángel Cabral. - It is an adaptation of "Que nadie sepa mi sufrir", a Peruvian waltz of Argentine origin composed in 1936 by Angel Cabral with lyrics by Enrique Dizeo. - After the success of the French adaptation, the original version was revived under the Spanish title "Amor de mis amores". - The song has been covered by many artists, in French and Spanish, as well as in other languages. - The song tells the story of a young woman who gets lost in a popular party. The crowd is so dense that the people there have little control over their movements. - Through the movement of the crowd, the young woman finds herself in the arms of a stranger. - Both helpless, they let themselves be carried away by the magic of the moment, dancing to the rhythm of the crowd. - Something happens, perhaps the beginning of a new love, destroyed a few moments later by another movement of crowd which separates those who had just met. - In spite of all his efforts, the crowd moves him away from the stranger which it had offered to him and which it carries away at once.
Merci, it's precisely what conveys this song with beneath the story of love and life itself : you're alone, then you are a couple, then you are alone for whatever reasons and you're in pain as a result... So fits with a waltz rythm. It comes and goes, and you can't do anything about it, just accept it. Also played with the accordeon that widens and then comes closer. Incredible. Close, far, close, far, close, far...

For those wonder what the song story is... It's the story of a woman, lost in a dancing crowd ( = la foule) in a big street party (think Bastille day). And then, without a warning (0:37) she is randomly thrown into an unknown man arms. For a brief and happy moment (well, exactly a minute !) they dance together, face to face. And body to body... Alas, as the crowd move anarchically, zoom - 1:43 - without a warning they are separated. And she can't fight back (Piaf was very small!) : she is carried away, raging, weeping, drowned in the crowd. And she will never find the man back, nor ever know who he was. And that's it. Wonderful song !
von braun werner You may add, that this happened probably at the end of 2nd word war, as the people were so happy that the war ended, that they danced in the street, the crowds were huge in those times.

Max Gron You cannot say that the Germanic language is a beautiful language compared to the beauty and melody evoked by the language of Victor Hugo, Emile Zola or Guy de Maupassant. German is hard and jerky, it has no melody.

Fun fact: this song was originally composed in 1936 by the argentinian composer Ángel Cabral, it's a tango called "Amor de mis amores". In 1957, Edith Piaf heard the song and then recorded it in the french version, changing the song's title and lyrics.

To make it clear: This is a Peruvian Waltz composed by the Argentinian musicians Angel Cabral and Enrique Dizeo in 1936. It was recorded first by the Argentinian Singer Hugo del Carril and performed by Edith Piaf in 1953 in Buenos Aires in the Opera Theater. Later, in France, she recorded it with the name of La Foule, but the original titel was Que Nadie sepa mi Sufrir.
It is of course the same song, and as you rightly mention the original being the Latin American version. Latin American music is great of course. The difference here is the magic given to the song by the incomparable Edith, which makes it unique and hers completely.

In a party in the middle of Budapest, Hungary, on a balcone where you can smoke, i asked a a guy from france to show me a tipical classic france song i would like while i drink some france wine, he showed me this on my phone and a group of france students started singing it right away as i listen to it on my phone. Well, if it's about the "r" we definitely don't say it like that...So if you speak french like Edith Piaf sing it will sound weird to french people😅😂
🤣
Yes xD
You aint alone.
Wow thank you sm

You may add, that this happened probably at the end of 2nd word war, as the people were so happy that the war ended, that they danced in the street, the crowds were huge in those times.

Different language, different lyrics. Not the same song.
You don´t need musical education to clearly notice, it is the same song.
It is of course the same song, and as you rightly mention the original being the Latin American version. Latin American music is great of course. The difference here is the magic given to the song by the incomparable Edith, which makes it unique and hers completely.
Perfecto, gracias, ahora puedo disfrutar de ambas obras. Que viva la comunión de culturas.
