    I have been looking and testing and understanding VNA’s slowly. I am very dense. Your video helped the most out of all that I’ve watched! Thx! I’m going to subscribe!

    I figured all of this out on my own yesterday. If only CZcams recommended it sooner.

    Makes a lot of sense to use the SMA connectors with cables...I was doing that without even knowing that I should :)
    The procedure map is also a good idea...I use a similar one but I might just try yours for a while to see if it is better.
    Thank you Tom!

    I had a cheap original H without the onscreen keypad and other advanced features: I would suggest upgrading the firmware on these. It improved it a lot.

    Great video! I'm looking to test my Helium antenna to make sure it not only is tuned correctly (I know how to do this) but I want to know what else I can do with my NanoVNA-F V2 to check my Helium miner. Can someone help me learn if there is more I can do with the VNA?

    Thanks for the tips. Very important steps for accurate and reliable measurement. I have an H. Is there any difference between the H and H4 other than a bigger screen ? Is it worth upgrading to H4.

    Interestingly, the nanovna I got yesterday had a calibration set with two piece connectors, with the separate moving screw to reduce wear. Seems like they've heard the complaints and changed them out?

    the H4 have S21 gain (db) option in nanovna saver sofware but the V2 I dont see it. my goal is use this device to test ferrite chokes, to know which one doing better job as balun chokes. But Im not sure if V2 have this option. This is new for me, I'll appreciate any help. Thank you!

    This is very helpful .
    Once you have saved your calibration,,,,,,,,
    Am I correct that you can just reload that calibration, if you need the same parameters again?
    Thank you.

    Only question that I have about calibrating while a wire/cable is attach to the NanoVNA, in which I get mix answers from CZcams Videos...... "Can You still calibrate even tho you have a extra wire/cable attach to the Nanovna..?"

    Hello Tom, I'm a new subscriber, hammer, and plumber. I've enjoyed all of your NanoVNA videos. I just recently finished a DSB 40 meter kit transceiver and it surprisingly is working well. I'm not sure if I suppress the carrier correctly since I don't have an oscilloscope nor a spectrum analyzer. Could you produce on any of your up coming videos on how to use an NanoVNA to suppress a carrier at the mixer circuit. Or is it possible?
    Thanks for the education on electronics,
    '73, Martin, WH6XY.

    • @tomtektest8042
      @tomtektest8042  Před 3 lety +1

      If you use a doubly balanced mixer, it should suppress the carrier sufficiently through its balance. Commercial doubly balanced mixers (like those sold by MiniCircuits) have the diodes carefully matched and will suppress the LO by at least 50 dB (typically 70 dB or more). It might be possible to use a nanoVNA to adjust an adjustable mixer but to do the job well (especially in the HF bands) requires a little better Resolution Bandwidth than the nanoVNA has available. Also, the nanoVNA is not a very good spectrum analyzer and better would be a true Spectrum Analyzer with at least 1 kHz (or smaller) RBW. I recently purchased a tinySA but don't have enough experience with it to know if it will be sufficient. You didn't mention which kit you used but most have instructions if the mixer requires adjustment (many do not). If you let me know what kit you used and I can find some information about it online, I will certainly look at it and see if I have any suggestions.

      @@tomtektest8042 Aloha Tom, thanks for the reply . The radio is a DCT by OzQRP. I really don't know if I really suppressed the carrier by sound using another radio. My hearing is not as what is use to be and I thought the nano would have that capabilities to show that suppression. Is it possible to use the nanoVNA as a signal generator, say cw @ 7.1Mz, and send the signal thru the balance modulator and receiving it after to a RTL-SDR dongal @ 7.1Mz to show the signal on my computer using the SDR Sharp spectrum analyzer?

    • @tomtektest8042
      @tomtektest8042  Před 3 lety

      I think the SDR would work for the spectrum analyzer part and it looks like the nanoVNA would work as a signal source. On the latter point you might want to watch a couple of CZcams videos by MegawattKS and vk3ye on using the nanoVNA as a signal generator if you haven;t already. Good luck.
