15000 is very steep !! Ive just returned from Kashmir. went there 1st week of March. Really nice weather and the mountains were still covered in snow. I was lucky to be hosted by a local kashmiri family and did not stay in a houseboat, but I did enquire. in some houseboats the prices were less than half - 6000 to 8000 per night and if you bargain you might even get it for 5000 per night. end of February and March are better times to visit Kashmir. Gumarg, Sonmarg and Pahalgam will still have snow and the landscapes are breathtaking !! the temperature will be under 5 degrees but then why would you go to Kashmir and not experience snow and snow peaked mountains !! Again September and October are good months to go as orchards are full of fruits and it is harvest time. Thats a completely different experience. No doubt Srinagar Gulmarg Pahalgam will be freezing between December and February but again it has its own charm during peak winters. People who dont mind the cold can visit even during these months. you only need a few layers of clothing and good waterproof shoes to deal with that.

@@ayushbanerjee224 Pehalgam har season k liye acha hai aur kokernag spring,summer aur winters k liye, and whole kashmir is safe, but as a kashmiri i suggest don't come during election time, due to some stupid reasons it is not safe to come kashmir during election times.

@aditheorigin4926 my experience was okish not impressed though bcz bathing system was difficult in it plus our booked houseboat got switched with another one(due to some reason) so may be originally one could have been better we don't know . But her house boat looks Great 👍

I am a female solo traveller and have just returned from Kashmir. I can vouch for Kashmir- it is absolutely safe. infact people are very nice, very hospitable and generous. I stayed almost 15 days in Srinagar and Jammu in someone's house !! Srinagar I stayed for 3 days with a Muslim family who were complete strangers - my co passengers in a shared taxi. they treated me like royalty !! Jammu again I stayed for almost 10 days with a Kashmiri Pandits family. everyone from an auto driver to a Kahwa seller, horse rider - all are extremely nice. Please visit Kashmir with an open mind and heart. Prepare yourself to experience a lot of love a lot of amazing food and breathtaking landscapes. Once you visit Gulmag and Pahalgam, you will never want to visit Europe.

No need to book any tour package. it will turn out to be very expensive. i went to Kashmir solo on a whim with absolutely no plans and spend good 15 days enjoying every flavor of kashmir. just reach Srinagar and look for budget hotels atleast a KM away from dal lake or Lal Chowk. lal chowk is the main market area of Srinagar. you will get hotels for 1000 to 1500 per nite. book an Electric auto to take you around Srinagar. 1 day is enough for that. next day go to Gulmarg. there are shared Sumo or tempo services from a certain point in Srinagar to Gulmarg. you will spend hardly 300 per head to reach Gulmarg. spend an entire day there. by 4pm take a return shared Sumo back to Srinagar. Enjoy the evening strolling on dal lake and having dinner at any of the local dhabas where you will get authentic Kashmiri food. 3rd day go to Sonmarg. same method. 4 day check out and leave for Pahalgam. Again there are shared sumo services from Srinagar to Anantnag and then Anantnag to Pahalgam. Pahalgam give yourself atleast 2 days to explore, Chandanwadi, Betaab valley and mini Switzerland. while returning Get off at Anantnag Railway station and take tickets from Anantnag to Srinagar to get a "local train experience" soon the railway lines will connect from Jammu to Srinagar too - in about 6 months. 1 week is enough to explore Srinagar, Gulmarg, Sonmarg and Pahalgam. this way it will cost you under 10000 for the whole week per person if you are in a group. If you are buying shawls, please do bargain. Kashmir is absolutely safe. Go with an open mind and heart. Best times to go is Off season End of Feb to end of March or between September to December. Hotels are cheap, weather is good and landscapes are still amazing.

May is peak season and everything is expensive. best months to go is Offseason between Feb end to March end and between September to December. Never go between April to June. Not only will it be very crowded, everything will be expensive. your hotel rooms will be 3 times the price, shikara rides will be expensive even restaurants and food will be expensive. I went 1st week of March and spent only 500 for 1 hr of shikara ride, hotels were available for under 1000 per night and there was very less crowd which made roaming around very pleasant. You dont need any tour package at all for Kashmir. simply reach Srinagar and take a hotel near Lal chowk or Dal lake. Please bargain. you will get a clean room with clean washroom with geyser for even 900 to 1000 per nite. Locals are super friendly and if you get invited by someone to experience Kashmiri Hospitality - take it. they will treat you like royalty. Enjoy local cuisine. I am a solo female traveller and travel across India without any pre planning !! I find tour packages very restricting and very expensive. Exploring entire Kashmir including Sonmarg Gulmarg, srinagar and Pahalgam will cost you under 10 - 12 k for a week.

If you genuinely want someone to admire the beauty of Kashmir they should visit in February or March inspite of the mild cold weather. other best time is end of August and September when orchards are full of apples, walnuts almonds apricots ect. Weather is very comfortable too.

15000 for one day? That's a bad deal! We stayed in a similar houseboat in Jhelum. Our breakfast, dinner, and tea were included. Shikara was also included. Also, our taxi was included. The entire package was of 60,000 for 5 days. We visited Kashmir in the second last week of April because we wanted to see the Tulip Garden which is only opened till 22nd.
Even I think 15k is a lot but this houseboat is expensive compared to others. Also, we booked it last minute so that could be also one of the reasons behind this cost.
