What a great documentary! I've loved the music of Schnittke for years, ever since I heard the piano quintet. I had no idea this documentary existed, but I'm so glad it does and that I found it. There is something special in the music of Schnittke that I have not found anywhere else: it provides very potent catharsis. For that reason, I think, I keep coming back to his music again and again.
I think this content is interesting, but the distortion in the audio is too distracting. The volume is so high that it is currupted (overload distortion).
True, but the music can be found elsewhere in higher fidelity, making the primary value here being the spoken words, which are clear enough to be understood and which are translated.

Have you looked at our video of his Cantata from Faust?
I think I listened to that on a different channel. I couldn't find it on yours.
And I can't find the whole thing anywhere! I heard it has never been recorded.
Schnittke (Alfred); Seid nuchtern und wachet (Faust Cantata); VII. Es geschah (It came to pass)
it has been recorded - see our video
Какая радость узнавать новое, поразительное об этом непостижимо талантливом человеке
Great to find this. Thanks for uploading it.

Yes it's flat-topping badly, probably the Beta/VCR it was recorded on was turned up too much when the tapes were digitized.

Most real world .
Why are they yelling to the papers at the end of the video lol ? Didn't they supposed to play that piece with buzzer ?
Who is the director of the film? Many thanks.
Donald Sturrock
It's weird seeing his bro get all pretentious and shizzle...
