  • Getting an early start on lawn care in the spring is key to getting that lush, healthy summer lawn we all want! If you've noticed some dead grass, or your fertilizing routine isn't as effective as you expected, it could be because of a build-up of thatch. A thick layer of thatch in your yard prevents rain, oxygen, and other nutrients from getting into the soil and feeding your grass. Dethatching can make a big difference! It's tedious and requires a lot of racking, but it's worth it!

    I just bought one today and slow to assemble but it worked really well. I was impressed! I removed a ton of dead material from the lawn and it really looks so much better. The Agro- fab definitely works.

    Hey mate, thanks for the video. A great tip : use a 48" leaf sweeper and it'll save you hours of hard work collecting the thatch. Keep it up. Cheers from New Zealand 🙂 Hamish

    Man, THANK YOU for this video. I always feel crazy pulling attachments with my zero turn. I don’t know why. Seeing someone else doing it makes me feel a hell off a lot better about it. Great job!

      I have hitched up some straight up dumb things to my zero turn. A landscape trailer with 1000lb of retaining wall stone in it. I don’t take it easy on it.

      My dad made me weld a trailer hitch to the back of my cub cadet zero turn so he could tote a cherry picker around the back of his house instead of using his truck 🙄 he did wheelies the whole time but she held up well

    My Agri-fab worked well but the lightweight construction is more for residential instead of commercial usage. I am over 65 working solo but found that my Stihl leaf blower worked great on cleanly corraling the thatch to a furrow to be picked up via rake & placed in my Agri-fab lawn cart with the dump bed to be taken to my compost.

    A bagger makes all the difference.....mow short....dethatch with the bagger as a clean up tool. Just got me dethatcher and aerator. The bagger makes the straw clean up easy. Now looking for another bagger for my bigger tractor!!
    Keep on mowing brother!!

      @@TheDurbinCompound bagger goes on the tractor....... for grass clippings and the dethatch. I picked up a used one for 70 bucks. New ones are expensive!! Been looking at new ones on Ebay and Amazon too. Good luck to ya!! Keep on mowing!!
      PS.....baggers are available for zero turns too but are expensive but with a large lawn are worth it!! Enjoy!!

    Nice one and thanks for posting. Quick question, why not remove the dethatcher And use the lawnmower to rake making big circles from edge to centre of the lawn and then manually raking and bagging only a small circle instead of doing it all manually?

    Make sure the ground is DRY when you do this and the grass is SHORT. Unless your a big fan of raking, use a sweeper or better yet a bagger. Your lawn and back will thank you for it.

    What's with the raking.... get yourself a bagger on the mower and it will suck all the that up. I have a similar de-thatcher behind by tractor. After ,I just suck it all up with the bagger. Looks fantastic when I am done.

    I’m thinking about buying one of these. I have a problem cutting wet grass leaving green compacted goo. Will this work to remove it when it drys to keep from killing the good grass that stuff covers up? I also have wire grass that I think will get the trip hazards up when running in the yard.

    Great video. On the Agri-fab reviews though, I have seen multiple reviewers state that the hitch on their zero turn is too high for this, are they making a mistake in assembly or could this be a different model?
    Perhaps your hitch is the same height as "regular" riding mowers and a typical zero turn's is higher?

    • @TheDurbinCompound
      @TheDurbinCompound  Před 3 lety +1

      I’m not sure about assembly. I don’t feel like you can mess that up in this one. I haven’t really look at other zero turns to see what they look like and how high the hitch is
