I came here after hidden figures.. what a lady.
Oh Taraj my sweet Taraj. Along with janelle and octavia. What I call, the unholy trinity.
what?@@ashonce
What an inspiration. I am stunned at how sharp her mind is still at 99 years of age. God bless her.
Bless her heart! She really is an amazing person. So proud her story was told and she received the honor she deserves. Glad she can see how appreciated she is .
Katherine Johnson's tremendous contribution to NASA and to the United States of America fills me with awe and a great deal of hope. She is truly a blessing and a leader who will be remembered for her constancy, commitment, tenacity, and heart. Thank you, Katherine.
👏👏 Well said
R.I. H. Mrs. KATHERINE...So glad you received your flowers while you yet lived!
She did far more than "contribute" to the space program. How is it that we are just learning of her great contribution, along with the others?
My Opinion - I know right? We don't learn about this stuff in school but they make sure to drill slavery into our heads.
@@HoneyBLuvly I am very glad that now we study her !
Slowly but sure everything that has passed will be in the history books even COVID
Lucky for John Glen that Katherine Johnson was such a brilliant woman, he may not have made it back alive. God Bless her heart!
Thanks Katherine Johnson
What an BRILLIANT and AMAZING WOMAN! if it had not been for the movie I would not have EVER known who she was😡 ..Very Glad for her as so many other Black people that has NEVER got the honors and credit for the MANY things that we've contributed to this ratchet society while others have stolen and got credit for .
Yeah, Great movie... That is what brought me to this video... Loved Keven Costner's characters comment... "here at NASA we all pee the same color"... Amazing woman, too bad it took till she was 99 for me to acknowledge who she is...
Rachet society? I seriously doubt you would rather be living in your ancestral black homeland of africa currently. Believe me, we're ready to pay for the ships if you want to flee anywhere else.
Clever women with a great character to match
Am sure she deserves it all. Movie was a pleasure to watch. Well done katherine

Dano C. Instead of people calling this person racist ask her what ideas were stolen from the blacks and credited to the whites??We will be waiting
I learned about her because in reading, we watched the movie Hidden Figures. It's unfortunate to learn that back then we treated people of other races like this back then. It's a big shame. They were treated terribly. Lets give a big congrats to Katherine Johnson.
Came here from Hidden Figures... Katherine is truly an amazing person and a huge inspiration❤❤❤
It's nice to see people like her get the recognition they deserved.
honestly "black don't crack" really applies to katherine... she is about to turn 100 and she looks like she is at least 80
Her skin in white though....I'm confused
William Gilliam You're confused because they have yet to teach American history in schools. You have not been told of the horrors perpetrated by our European ancestors. Nor have you been taught the myriad contributions African-Americans have made here despite being enslaved and all that being enslaved entails.
But the older people get, the wiser. And most black people turn white when they get older. Coincidence?
@@bucketheadkfc one of her grandparents are mother then likely a white slave owner. Can we recognize that she could pass as a white woman, but she stayed turn to who she was.
@@bucketheadkfc Black people love to take full credit for the accomplishments of mixed people. They call Neil DeGrasse Tyson a light skinned black man, even though his light skin comes from his european mother.
What an amazing woman. You are such an inspiration to woman.
Why do we wait so long, to have conversations with wonderful people like Katherine Johnson, that can benefit society in an educational and inspirational way?
What a joy you are Katherine Johnson! Thank you for all you have done.
God bless you and thank you for your contribution. Most of all, thank you for your tenacity to surpass your daily challenges to just do your job. You are a great inspiration even now. I wish I had known about your team when I was growing up watching rockets go up into space as a kid from my family's back porch in central Florida. I would've looked to you as a mentor.
Donna M. Right?!!! I am floored that I never knew anything about these incredible women. We need to change that. I know I will teach my children about her and the other amazing women who helped make the impossible possible.
Let's get more women into Quantum Computing!! :D
I cannot stand the racist/sexist attitudes I see from both sides because everyone has a valuable contribution to make to help make the universe a better place for all of us! We need to celebrate and lift up those who make us all better!!!!!
Can you imagine receiving the Presidential medal of freedom from President Obama, the first African American president, is an honor in itself. God bless you Katherine Johnson, you are a true American hero and very Inspirational to me.
I imagine the honor was all his
Just finished watching Hidden Figures movie. Tried searching for Katherine in the net and found this. What a remarkable woman, brilliant mind. Wanna make me learn more about science and technology. Will not forget this - "Like what you do then you will do your best. If you don't like it, shame on you."
I just watched Hidden Figures and she was an intelligent girl. John Glenn wouldn't have lived a long life if Katherine didn't go to NASA. She will be remembered forever and ever.
Wow, what an amazing woman. God bless her.
What a humble person. Such an inspiration. wow
Amazing. Thankful for her contributions.

Amazing Lady💙
She is radiant! 🫡💛
R.I.P Katherine Johnson 🙏🏾💔😢😔
Ohhhh!!!....This is priceless!!.... Amazing woman!!!
Hidden Figures was such a good movie. I can't imagine what it was like living back then as a person of color. It's uncalled for and awful the way they were treated. Katherine did amazing work and NASA no doubt wouldn't have been able to accomplish what they did without her. All three of the women depicted in the movie were great.
Horris P. McTitties are u white
congrats
Katherine Johnson is 99 years old
Lucas McCracken God kept her
101 now !

An extraordinary woman to achieve so much at a very difficult time for black people in the USA
Rest In Peace hero
Siamo gia' la'...

After viewing "Hidden Figures" I sit here in awe regarding Katherine Johnsons contributions to the Nasa space program, yet realize this is the main problem with society. Are we more impressed with her brilliance or because she is a woman and one of color? Our biases tell us - this isn't the norm so we are almost surprised. I look forward to the day when one's gender, race and culture does not affect our expectations. To deeply admire a persons contributions without the obvious prejudices. This would be the greatest exploration of all mankind, the journey into tolerance and compassion.
In August of 2018, if she is still going (bless her heart!), she will be 100 years old.
- Katherine Johnson was a gentle pioneer, nudging us along on that journey you speak of.
One reason many of us are amazed, is the amount of obstacles she had to overcome, just because of when she was born.
Black people were not allowed to attend school past the 8th grade where her family lived. So her parents decided they'd move. She then graduated high school at 14 years old!
She definitely had the loving support of her family, but it was in no way an easy road for her.
My admiration of her isn't because of her race or gender, but because of what she achieved in spite of them; her brilliance, her tenacity, her habit of looking beyond - seeing more...
I watch movies like "Hidden Figures" all the time. I love to learn about the lives of brilliant people who contribute monumentally to our world (eg - Einstein, Hawking, Tesla and Nash, Ramanujan, MLK, JFK...). So I would have watched HF if it was about a man; but - yay! - it was not.
Laws can change to correct injustice, but when hearts change - that's when the world will follow suit. She changed hearts :)
WOW i never new that you were still alive Im your bigist fan!!!!! How smart are you how old are your kids are you a widow?
♥RESPECT. So like it when the spot comes on these shadow working geniuses, these backstage stars, they show us so much Will, Passion, Humility, Wisedom, and these qualities are to me, the highest of highest for a humanstar.♥ Merci Lady Katherine Johnson, without people like you, there would be no realisation of the GreatestMission.
That’s my principals great aunt!! Kathrine Johnson!!
What an american hero, if it wasnt for hidden figures no one would know about her story and im so thankful that movie was created so she And all those hidden figures could get the recognition they deserve!
I came here because of the Hidden Figures film. What a women!

Mis respetos 3 primeras mujeres afroamericanas en la NASA
Alguien viene de ver la pelicula?
Trail BLAZER BIG TIME!!!
You will be missed
about your corlor and there was no bathroom at your work in that buildding and you are like the smartest person i know
Juat saw the movie hidden figures great movie.the good people see past color or race to achive a goal if it wasnt for certain people to make that decision it would have failed. My dad worked for Nasa Jpl for 20 years he use to take me to JPL all the time he worked on Voyager/Viking missions but when he started he had a college degree in computer science but since he was a mexican american they started him as a janitor he moved up quick tho but at that time he had to endure same prejudices and i am proud of him.there are other movies with the same priciples look past prejudices you can solve anything
Rest in peace she died yesterday
Black women are so powerful.
RIP among the stars

Hello NASA
😍😍😍😍😍
Congrats about your meldle thing someday i want to vist you
Plz tell this to Katherine Johnson
At school I am doing an African American project and guess who I chose
YOU KATHERINE JOHNSON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And my classmates where sooo surprised when I told them this:
Did you know Katherine Johnson high school when she was 10 and college when she was 15!?!?!?!?!?
I liked the movie
Well, now, if they just did the hard work that I did, which was my job. I did it every day. E never missed a day. Never stayed home playing sick and stuff. My problem was to answer questions, and I did that to the best of my ability at all times, correct or incorrect.
But that's my theory-- Do your best all the time.
Ainda me pergunto, porque a maldição da pela ainda faz diferença para algumas pessoas , somos todos iguais , todos limitados,
you guys realize she is 98 years old in this vid right? lol
no racist meaning behind my comment..put for this we can put the ✊🏿up. I saw the movie..i cried
What's her ancestry? She looks more EurAsian than African-American. I had no idea she is black until I watched Hidden Figures. Regalrdless, she's a brilliant woman
She has two black parents. .but on her dad's side native American and her mom's side white. .but her mom more black. Her dad more black....which is WHY they were segregated.
