this is the original group? I recently become interested here after the collab with LL but I want to see their live performance first if it can be on par with endless parade
+JayVee Borja ah, i can clear that up for you, but i feel like, if you've begun exploring the world of seiyuu idols (and i hope you enjoy it!), and love live is your main reference point for comparison, i should point some things out before you do so, mainly the choreo. i should also warn this turned out much longer than i was expecting lol.
with idolm@ster, their focus isn't on choreo. actually, iirc, most singing seiyuu generally don't. with love live, there's a higher emphasis on the choreo and how it's staged, and that's what makes love live unique among seiyuu idol groups. and with love live, we know there's obviously a difference between the character and the seiyuu, but with the concerts, they work to give a live experience that communicates the spirit of their characters. there's a few newer groups who one might say is similar, iRis and wake up girls, but their groups put more emphasis on the seiyuu, the former being idols who are trying to work as seiyuu (...at this point, the emphasis is on try), and the latter being seiyuu who also served as the basis for their characters (first name, birthday, some character design, etc). but if you were to ask whether iRis or WUG are either idol or seiyuu first, that question's muddled by the fact that some girls in either group were auditioning for both groups. but coming back from my tangent, from what i've seen, even iRis' and WUG's choreo aren't at the sweat-dripping, cardio-intensive, camera-shaking levels that love live is that banged up jolno's leg. and off the top of my head, even what mimorin and soramaru does with milky holmes isn't as intense, at least, again, regarding the choreo.
anyway, getting to your point, this isn't the main group. with the games, and thus the concerts being around for 10 years, it's pretty big. the sheer number of seiyuu and songs is partially why im@s hires background dancers for its concerts rather than having them do the exact choreo from the video games. choreo can be a lot to memorize for some, and for others it might not be their strength. there's a video of asakura momo's performance from their first concert comparing it with her character, serika hakozaki, somewhere here on youtube.
i can break down the general groups for you.
- for the main original group, which consists of the seiyuu from the im@s and im@s 2 video games, and the group who did the collabo with LL, they're the 765PRO ALLSTARS. some of them don't do all the concerts because they're also moms now.
- from one of the spinoff games for the DS, which hired some big names (yuuko sanpei, haruka tomatsu, and kana hanazawa), they're the dearly stars. but aside from a tiny handful of guest appearances, they're not at the concerts.
- from the mobile/social media(/very recent rhythm game that you should try) game series, idolm@ster cinderella girls has the cinderella girls, also going credited as cinderella project. more and more girls are voiced by popular vote (i think it's at 35-40 right now), with like 17 or so who recieved voice actresses through the anime (one of the girls from WUG and a graduate from AKB48 are now among the cast).
- from another mobile game, idolm@ster million live are the 765PRO MILLIONSTARS, but you can also use millionstars - they're the girls here in this video. some of them are around the average age of the cg seiyuu, but most of them are young, two hired while still in hs, and of the 37 girls who were cast for the game, about a dozen or so are at the concerts. for reference, most of the active members at the concerts are around rippi's age, if not younger.
- and another mobile game, there's idolm@ster SideM. like cg and ml, but with male idols. idk much about them, but i'd just go with sidem. there's like 9 guys last i checked. you can also play as the group jupiter, who were a rival group in im@s 2. and yuuko sanpei's character in dearly stars (long story short, a guy who was kinda forced to debut as a female idol) is here too, making his debut as a male idol.
assuming you started off in LL from the anime, my advice for getting into im@s is watching the anime as well. no need to rush though. there's the 2011 adaptation that's faithful to the game series, and there's a comedy manga/mini-anime called puchimas. then there's the movie (which includes both the allstars and a select group of the millionstars girls). and then the cinderella girls anime (which has references to the 2011 anime here and there). but if you wanna jump into the concerts first, imo i first experienced the 7th anniversary concert. there's lots of those videos going around. and then if you checked out the 2011 anime, the 9th anniversary performance of yakusoku would be one of the best. again, if you feel like you wanna check out the concerts first, i guess the best would be to check out would be the M@STERS OF IDOL WORLD concert, which had, from all the groups, a combined number of 30 girls performing each day. look up HikenP, he posted a lot of videos from that on his channel. again, i hope you come to love idolm@ster!

LL will also last that long. From what you said, there are a alot of
groups, I really doubt if you can name all of them LOL!
I first found LL because of their natsuiro and mogyutto, I was searching for a musical anime after wathing K-ON! and I stumbled in LL's music video and was instantly captivated by their song but the biggest reason I become a fan is because of the live concerts.. they are so full of energy dancing for hours.
On one note, most of them started as seiyuu but now 7 of them are singers and only 2are still seiyuu - shikaco and tokui the voices of hanayo and nico. SO basically LL concert is a group of singers (with high profiles like mimorin, nanjolno, pile and ucchi) singing and dancing anime songs but other than that you are correct. I really doubt the choreo of LL is the reason for nanjolno's knee injury - i mean she is already 31 to begin with - a little jogging will do the trick to increase her bone mass.
I will try idolmaster thanks for you pointing the group out - hopefully, this will be more than enough as a I wait for the anime of LL Sunshine - Aquors and like what you pointed - most of them are teens ;)
Thank you again! I was worried I will receive criticism as Im@s fan are known to be diehard fanatics that will protect the image of their beloved show if compared to other idol shows but you are an exception.
+JayVee Borja well, going by groups, there's just 765pro allstars, the cinderella girls, and 765pro millionstars who're active and doing things, so talking with most any other producer (another thing - since the games and stuff have the player in the role of the producer, hardcore im@s fans are also called producers), these groups are the most commonly discussed. now what i definitely can't name is all the subunits! just recently, including the few characters who're staff, im@s has cast 100 seiyuu, and that list still grows thanks to cinderella girls, so i can't name all of the seiyuu either! i know all the allstars and the two pre-ml subunits since they're the core, but with cg and ml, there's a looooot. with cg, the first half of the anime gave us six subunits, but in the second half of the season, they mixed in more characters and rearranged them into more subunits with characters that i've yet to memorize! and then with the ml cds - i don't wanna overload you with all the info - the allstars are in there along with the 37 millionstars girls, making for a total of 50 ladies, forming 10 subunits. and again, if you're gonna look up the concerts and wanna focus on the ladies there, if it's any comfort, with the past cg and ml concerts, not everyone participates, so there's not as many to know on that front.
i guess i should clarify on the whole idol/seiyuu front that part of the evolving and adapting anime industry is seiyuu idols, which has kinda been a thing for a while now since like the 80s/90s, but it hadn't picked up until recently. i should note that the "communicating the spirit of the characters" regarding love live is a loose paraphrasing of what i remember one japanese liver had described of the lives. now with seiyuu idols, a lot of the time it's either seiyuu forming a unit to promote an anime (milky holmes which has mimorin and soramaru as i mentioned is an example of this), or with love live and im@s, seiyuu who do lives representing their characters. this doesn't mean that they're not singers also, what with mimorin, pile, and jolno having made their debut as singers before LL. with im@s, there's ladies throughout the franchise who have singing careers too, though if i were to describe all of them that would be...a lot of work haha. fun fact - one that comes to mind is asami imai, who (mentioned in a blog post by mimorin) mimorin sees as her senpai, and who mimorin was looking forward to working with again in the im@s x LL collabo. even though the seiyuu both in LL and im@s have described themselves as idols, i still think of them as voice actresses/singers who play idols. hopefully this makes sense? and i brought up WUG and iRis because they're a weird new development of girls explicitly being both idols and seiyuu. idols, singers, film actors or other ppl in entertainment transitioning into voice acting is a thing that does happen, but WUG and iRis being groups that work both as idol and seiyuu blur the line for me, along with, among other things, the fact that there are some seiyuu in im@s, ml, and other anime franchises are considered idols with what they've done regarding their own individual career work.
with jolno, i read a translation of a blog post she had written here: seiyuuri.com/2015/08/31/a-notice-nanjolnos-blog-post-2015-08-31/ i didn't mean to imply that she's out and done, but concerning what happened, it's not an issue of age, but genetics. while i guess it prob wasn't the main cause, even compared to whatever physical stuff she does outside of LL, dancing as part of LL still probably played a role - that she was dancing at all would've caused it to happen sooner or later, i'm sure of that. given that physical rehab should get her into better shape, i'm looking forward to seeing her join the other LL ladies in future concerts.
imo, if someone wants to get into im@s, least i could do is answer some questions to the best of my ability, so while there can be jerks in the fandom, there's others who would wanna be nice to the new peeps. :D

Vinco Oh. so nanjolno's illness is genetics. I didn't know that, you got me there. It seems you know a lot about LL as well, are you a Liver too? Oh and I was aware that seiyuu can be singer at the same time.. It just that a seiyu's earning from an anime song is really small compared to a singer.
yeah, that's true, but apparently however much a rookie voice actor would make only doing voiceover work wouldn't be enough to pay the bills. you can expect someone trying to make it in the voice acting industry to have at least one part time job in the mean time. if if someone lands their starmaking role and start getting hired more, or they get cast by a big franchise (like im@s or LL), they can make good money. while this probably isn't true for everyone cast in im@s works, the ladies in the 765pro allstars apparently make so much from im@s that they don't really have to look for work elsewhere. and for what it counts for, i'm into LL, not quite as much as im@s though.
