Home Renovation Struggles: Roof Inspection Day | Vlog 25 June 2024
Good morning, everyone! 🌞 It's 25th June 2024, and we're up early at 9:00 AM, struggling to keep our eyes open. Today, we're back at the house we're planning to buy, to get a proper assessment of the roof. Last time, the roofer we hired didn't give us a satisfactory estimate and informed us that his small business couldn't handle the job. So, we called in a larger company with their own cranes and tools.

Join us as we walk through the inspection process with Joey. The new contractor arrived late for our 8:30 AM appointment, which was quite the hassle since we left the house at 7:00 AM. Despite the rough start, we're eager to see the condition of the roof and understand the necessary repairs and costs involved.
The young guy from the new company seems quite experienced and has all the right equipment, including an automatic ladder. He thoroughly inspected the roof and found significant issues: one beam is completely broken, and another is infested with fungus. Based on his advice, we're considering replacing both beams.
We also discussed our roofing options. While most houses here have clay tiles, we've decided to go with a metal roof for better durability and insulation, especially since maintaining tiles can be a hassle with the heavy rains. The tiles often get displaced, causing leaks, and we'd rather avoid frequent trips up the roof for repairs.
After the inspection, we called the city hall to get in touch with the local land records officer (similar to a Patwari in Hindi). We needed to verify some undeclared modifications to the property before purchasing to avoid future legal issues.
It's a scorching hot day, and we're feeling the heat. Despite the challenges, we're determined to move forward with our dream home project. Stay tuned for more updates!
