The greatest shame of those films, really, is that the squandered the only chance we had for a story with the Original cast. Now Carrie, Peter, and Kenny have passed; and Harrison and Mark would never come back without Carrie.
The Disney sequels are not canon, it’s a poorly done fan fic
They should just remake the sequel Trio ... they could make a billion dollars, again! ... and save the franchise.
I want more anakin and more luke skywalker for next season. I think incorporating the legends canon is really cool.

I went back and re read the original Thrawn trilogy. It’s amazing how much of the original story has been recanonized. In the next few books Admiral Pellaeon evens notes that Thrawn was found exiled by his own people (another legends story they canonized in the new trilogy).
One comment though. You noted that Mara Jade was the emperor’s hand and meant to take the place of Vader or was his apprentice. Thrawn actually dissspelled that notion telling Mara that the Emperor had many “hands” doing his bidding. Vader was always the emperor’s only true apprentice.
And Mara Jade wasn't working as a bounty hunter. She was an enforcer for a local crime lord Talon Karde. She wanted to kill Skywalker because that was the emperors last command (the point of the third books title)
This is why I take a lot of what Charlie says with a grain of salt. I never read the Thrawn trilogy books. But I will take your word on what you guys are saying.
However I have caught him misconstruing information on a bunch of subjects in other places of Star Wars, Marvel, and other shows.

Mara Jade also never worked with Thrawn. She and Talon Karde actually hid Luke from Thrawn when he came for the yasalimari. I don’t think Shin Hati is the Mara Jade of the Mandoverse. I don’t see any similarities between the two other than they are female characters who are Dark Jedi at this point in the timeline. Another thing, by the time they had met in the Thrawn trilogy, Luke had already surpassed her strength in the Force, but she had trained to combat Jedi. One of the reasons why her death at the hands of Jacen Solo was so bad.
let's not forget that Mara Jade also had what is known as force vision although it wasn't as powerful as Yoda's
It would be awesome to have Ashoka reflect more on Anakin to Luke. When. He was her master the unorthodox training etc. Give him the training holograms that she used.

I know this is kind of unethical, but I also want a cgi kenobi from the original trilogy as a ghost with the original trilogy anakin talking to them both.
I get that Hayden and ewan are y’all’s favorite versions of Vader and Obi wan but to make things a lot more interconnected with the original trilogy, it would work a lot better. We’ve already gotten enough young anakin and a whole Obi wan series.
I really love the Shin Hati character in Ahsoka and also the actress who portrays her. Hope we see more of her in future seasons.

Mara was one of the Emperor’s Hands. He used his Hand’s mostly for personal clandestine work. Rather than as possible replacements for Vader.
He sent in Vader he needed a sledge hammer or to go after actual Jedi. The Inquisitors for more formal and low level ground work (They aren’t that useful). And the Hands (like Mara Jade) he used for high level surgical operations that you didn’t want the general public or rank and file learning about.
In the Thrawn, ‘Heir to the Empire’ trilogy, she was only half trained, and didn’t really understand that the Force was something that she could control personal, rather than the Emperor using her as a conduit for his power and will.
Until she becomes canon again, check out her incredible fan made theme inspired by, among other themes, across the stars, like father like son, it’s like poetry, it rhymes.

With Ashoka. And seeing Luke get vulnerable in front of Anakin and saying how much he misses him would be awesome
Personally, I'd rather them do Mara Jade proper at some point and leave Shin Hati & Baylan as their own thing. This is going to be controversial, but you have to write her as Palpatine's apprentice AFTER his "death" in ROTJ. This would make her Palpatine's 4th and final apprentice. I'd write it so Palpatine found her during the OT era as a child and then after his "death/fall" she is the one that rescues his corpse/body on the Death Star and takes it to Exegol to be resurrected/repaired. She's his fail-safe option if the fight with Luke Skywalker didn't go well. Over time and the course of the series and her adventures with Luke Skywalker post ROTJ did she become good and leave Palpatine "stranded" on Exegol but writing it from her perspective Palpatine would have been her sketchy step-father father who Luke Skywalker (the Enemy) almost killed and destroyed the Empire. Then you write her out of the series because she either dies later on or possibly more mysteriously travels to galaxy B (Peridea) to start a new life with her Skywalker child. That way we know all (3) major force sensitive bloodlines live on (Kenobi's Brother, Skywalker's child with Mara Jade, Rey as Palpatine)
BONUS: Palpatine gifts her Mace Windu's purple lighter saber crystal which will also be deep cut head nod to her dual (bad/good) nature with the force.

Now we just need Cal to also join the story! I wonder if Jace would be trained by Ezra, he doesn’t know that Kanan and Hera has a son but he would for sure love the kid and may take up the role of teaching him how to be a Jedi. Surprising that Luke hasn’t already recruited Jacen since Leia would know about Jacen so she could have told Hera that her brother could train him.

I have to say I really enjoyed this series. It wasn't perfect but the fact we got live action Thrawn, Ezra, Sabine, Hera, Jacen and the Nightsisters not to mention live action clone wars Anakin was awesome. This series to me didn't have one protagonist but focused on many characters. I love how Dave pushes the story forward. I can be wrong but I have a feeling we will get Anakin in some shape or form for this storyline and movie as well as Luke. I'm excited for the finale and movie.

I think it's possible that Grogu will command the Purgils to carry him and Din Djarin to rescue Ahsoka and crew in season 4 of the Mandalorian. Din already kind of left Bo Katan to deal with Mandalore and went on his way with Grogu. And Grogu seeing purgil in hyperspace might have been foreshadowing this whole scenario. If not Grogu then maybe Luke again? I could see them hijacking a good portion of Mandalorian season 4 to continue this part of the story. I have thoroughly enjoyed the Ahsoka show though. So I don't care if they do. Especially if ut all leads to a Thrawn movie.

A few points of clarity I would like to provide from EU timeline perspective: The Truce at Bakura (right after Return of the Jedi aka ROTJ), Courtship of Princess Leia (4 years after ROTJ), Thrawn Trilogy (5 years after ROTJ written 1992), Dark Empire comics (7 years after ROTJ written 1991), I, Jedi (7 years after ROTJ), and the Jedi Academy Trilogy (7 years after ROTJ). The continuity in storyline created through these books was simply fantastic and forms the nucleus of the EU. Most of these were written before the prequel movies were released and all were published well before Disney acquired Lucasfilms. The Truce at Bakura introduced us to the Jedi Healing Trance, alien invaders on the fringe of the galaxy, and Luke Skywalker's first love interest. Courtship of Princess Leia introduced Dathomir and the Nightsisters. The Thrawn Trilogy is really the backbone not only in providing Thrawn but also a bevy of other characters most notably Mara Jade, Talon Karrde, Jorus Cbaoth, Captain Pallaeon, the Noghri, Winter, and Han and Leia's unborn Jedi Twins. The Dark Empire comics were the first major piece of literature published after ROTJ in the timeline. The Jedi Academy Trilogy takes place within months after Dark Empire ended and it's notable that Leia had to persuade the New Republic Senate to saction Luke's Jedi Academy so shortly after Luke was running around the galaxy destroying everything with clone Palpatine. So what is happening now is a merging of so many robust stories within the Live Action Disney movies & tv series. I guess this is an attempt at fan service by incorporating the most popular aspects of the EU into current cannon while making the material "theirs". Personally, as a lifelong Star Wars fan, I have mixed feelings. I'm glad these amazing stories are being brought into cannon and shown on the screen but i feel bad they are being merged & rewritten in a diluted fashion rather than getting the full attention to detail they deserve.
Would be good to see Jacen being trained by Luke in Season 2 of Ahsoka. Also, the light sabre fights are getting better and better. Loving Ahsoka's double blade fight with Baylan. Maybe Ezra will get a new light sabre as well.

Interesting. I’ve always felt Sabine in the Ahsoka series was the character playing out the Heroes Journey i.e. the Luke role, which is why in the beginning it felt more like Sabine’s show rather than Ahsoka’s. Ahsoka fulfilled the mentor role but she wasn’t obviously the one on the Heroes Journey. So if Shin is Mara Jade maybe Sabine will play the Luke role from the Heir to the Empire series which would explain why Sabine and Ezra are really like brother and sister and have no romantic interest. I could be wrong but I feel that means Filoni will most likely give us a Legend of Korra-type ending for these two.❤❤

Theories are just theories, too. And when we have them, all they do is create expectations which are rarely met.
I love Nia's (SW Theory) opinions on a lot of stuff. I'm a decade older than him but I didn't get into SW until the SEs came out in 1997. We had channels like HBO and Showtime but they rarely ever showed SW on even basic TV. Became a fan to Indiana Jones and Batman by 1989 and Back to the Future by 1990.
I'm at a 100% agreement with Nia's take on Ahsoka's Ep 6 and Baylan. I think Baylan's sidequest trying to find this character calling him has become the main plot of Ahsoka. The MacGuffin. The fate of Ahsoka, Sabine, Ezra, and Thrawn have all taken a backseat to Baylan.
Everyone wants to know what he's looking for? My all-time favorite song is U2's "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For". Sorry, 90s babies, the 80s had way better songs. But even if we separate Baylan's mysterious sidequest, he's still a great character.
Baylan is giving me mostly Sir Christopher Lee/Count Dooku vibes but before Dooku joined Sidious since Baylan is right at the middle. And then Ray Stevenson is giving us elements of Sir Alec's Obi-Wan and animated Plo Koon. I'll keep repeating it, Ray is the best SW actor since Sir Alec.
Notice Baylan never raises his voice. Tells stories to Shin and tries to mentor and nurture Shin like Obi-Wan did to Luke in ANH. And if you go back to ANH, Obi-Wan does abandon Luke like Baylan did to Shin. Baylan might be trying to save Shin just in case Baylan gets the Raiders of the Lost Ark death scene getting consumed and melted by evil, dark spirits.
I'm all-in for future episodes focused only on Shin if Djarin and Cassian had flashbacks explaining their past. I really do want to rank Shin in my top 10 and perhaps over Leia. Rank her right below Baylan. But be careful what you wish for. Sometimes these characters are not all that interesting when we start finding out more about them. Shin's luster may wear off.

I've seen Loki S1 at least five times and listened to it while the screen off a few more times because I love the score so much. So I don't really need to binge watch to remember it. It's still very fresh in my mind. Loki is actually my favorite series on Disney+. I know Sean Chandler and Tyrone Magnus didn't care for it but I like it more than any MCU or SW series on there.
I'm trying not to get too psyched up for S2 which comes out this Thursday night. I'm still not sure if S2 will ever be as good as S1. MCU has really hit a slump these last 2 years. It wouldn't surprise me if Loki S2 sucks. I remember loving Agent Carter S1 only to despise S2. If the Ahsoka S1 finale does disappoint, at least we get Loki S2 only 2 nights later. Only question is will it be any good?? We can never be too sure anymore with Disney.

MCU has really sucked ass the last 2 years. I absolutely hate Quantumania. Loki S1, Spider-Man: No Way Home (which is really a Sony movie), and WandaVision are the best things that came out for MCU since Endgame. I didn't really care for Hawkeye and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol . 3 the way others feel about them.
Star Wars is not as popular as MCU for this current generation but surprisingly has been a little bit better with their D+ series. Mando even with S3 and Andor have all been better than every MCU series for me since 2021 except Loki. And Ahsoka is better than every MCU series during the last 25 months.

lol I'm just reading the Thrawn Trilogy now, maybe halfway through the 2nd book, so I gotta say while I'm not wildly surprised to hear Mara Jade at least makes up with Luke . . . but I didn't see wedding bells coming :). I didn't pick up on her similarity to Shin Hati, but it makes sense. I hope they get to do much of this material, I love how Filoni isn't afraid to take ideas from the older canon and mold it into the new reality they are building. Lots of good characters in there.
Please remeber also that the sequal trilogy has said there was no major conflict between the battle of Battle of Jakku and the destruction of Hosnian Prime.
Hamato Xiono even says as much in star wars Resistance that the mere though of the Empire posing a threat is impossible. Meaning that even after learning about Thrawn, all of Thrawn's machinations will be of so little significance it won't even register on a galactic level. As opposed to legends where Thrawn is able to beat the New Republic and only lost because his bodyguard killed Thrawn.
If there is a Mara jade version, could there also be a Kyle katarn? For me it was always him who stole the Death Star plans, like in Dark Forces… I also loved The Valley of the Jedi storyline.. I understand they changed that for rogue one, which was an awesome movie that sadly gave me high hopes for the new trilogy… but seems like I was a Padwan that still had to learn a lot… 😢
We definitely need Mara Jade in live action, but something big either a movie or a show /w her and Luke.
I want them to recast Luke so they can properly use him in the Mando-Ahsoka timeline. But they have to do it with Mark Hamill’s approval. Also Leia. Like they already have Han and Lando. I loved the original cast and it will be hard to get then right, but it’s the only way we could get to see them. That’s my biggest problem with these shows, that the original cast haven’t been appearing despite their characters being pivotal to the current events.
+ @RetendoArcade She was a huge character. You SIMPLY can't give her story to an unknown and new character and erase Mara Jade and her future hook up with Luke. No way.

Mara jade is definitely my most wanted legends character to entire cannon. Imagine that if she became Luke's wife and we just never saw her and she died when kilo destroyed the temple, it would give so much more reason for Luke to be the way he is the last jedi

Love the idea of Shin being a version of Jade. Wondering if Ashoka will become her future master as part of her redemption arc setting up a connection to Luke down the road
That is going to happen because it completes Ashoka's redemption, it's not really about Shin
Yeah that actually makes perfect sense. I had no idea of Mara and Luke and sure didn't think about Shin being Mara. But I was saying this season that I can see Shin changing over to the good side because of asking questions with Baylan. Another great series though for sure. I can't wait to see the rest. This is the way.
One other major thing about mara jade in legends is that she was eventually killed by Han and Leia's son who turned to the dark side. If she goes to Luke and joins his academy that could also ironically end up happening in canon too as she could be one of the victims of kylo ren's attack.
Had they mentioned Mara in TLJ. Luke not being able to stop Kylo from killing his wife, maybe even Ben, and him cutting himself off from the force in response to it, may have been a bit more forgiveable.
I hope luke show's up in tomorrow's finale, would be awesome, even for a tiny bit
I am 46 years old, have loved Star Wars ever since my parents took me to the theatre to see Return of the Jedi at 6 years old. In my life, I never really read many books that were really long, except the Thrawn trilogy books. Not only did the book covers intrigue me, but reading them really intrigued me and opened up more of the Star Wars universe for me. Just the cover for Heir to the Empire with the Wizard looking guy with the long white hair and beard with his arms up in the air and light coming out of his fingers made me excited for more live action Star Wars at that time, but never happened. So in season 2, plus the Thrawn movie, I want to finally see the book trilogy come to life, because I am not getting any younger. Carrie Fisher has passed, and at this point, I am fine with them recasting the main cast as long as they find people that resemble them, just so they can bring this story to life.
Love to see Mara Jade or Shin Hati as Luke’s eventual wife. If she tragically doesn’t survive into the time of The Last Jedi it would give more credence to Master Luke Skywalker’s withdrawal from the Force and society on Ahch-To along with the destruction of his Jedi school and students.

I want to believe Ashoka planted a seed on Shin when she told she could help her. I believe Shin immediately saw honesty on Ashoka and that caused good fear in her.
Mando already knew about Thrawn because Ahsoka mentioned him in the first season when she fought that Nightsister and got Mando the beskar spear

Honestly I like the series better after I watch your videos! I've watched all of Rebels, all the live action Ashoka, some of Clone Wars, and I like her character a lot. I've just had trouble connecting or really caring about any of the characters in the show, including Ashoka. It's like the show is devoid of emotion. I know a lot of people are loving it, so maybe it's just me but watching your videos gives me so much more context and understanding.

I’d like to see Bindu in episode 8. I think that Thrawn et al should return to the universe, but that Ahsoka and company should spend a little time in Piridia and we should learn alot about what has been going on. The New Republic needs to get beat up a little and groups like the SkeletonCrew, Mando and his version of the Rangers of the New Republic, the Mandolorians, Boba Fett’s group, and the Bounty Hunters should continue to keep Thrawn’s plan off-balance with mixed results. I don't know who Mara Jade is, and I had never heard of Thrawn until after I began watching Star Wars Rebels a few months after the 1st season of The Mandalorian had ended. I had no idea that there was so much fan fiction out there of Star Wars. I remember George Lucas commenting many, many, MANY years ago about some of the fan fiction, but I didn't know until last year that it was a big thing, that a LOT was produced.
But i always expected for there to be 9 movies. When I was in 7th grade in the early 80s, there was a girl in my class named Kathy Boland, who explained the plan to me, that after Return of the Jedi, there would be 3 movies predatingSrar Wars, then afterward, there will be 3 movies that progress forward the timeline after Return of the Jed.

That struggle to describe Mara Jade is kind of funny! You can just say that Mara Jade is the Force Sensitive version of Black Widow. Bad ass fighter, spy, jack of all trades, infiltration, assassin, dark history, closet full of skeletons, villain to hero, etc etc all the way to flowing red hair.

There's a scene where Luke Skywalker looks angry and is holding a lightsaber ready to kill his nephew because he saw darkness in him. What if the same dark entity that pushed Luke to abandon the dogma of the Jedi Order is the same one calling Baylan?
The Sequel Trilogy can be viewed better if they somehow create links to other stories that led to their actions. The Prequels is now viewed so much better thanks to The Clone Wars animated series to fill the 3-year gap between AOTC and ROTS.
The only thing I don't wish it to be is Palpatine. I personally love Sidious but Disney made a huge mistake bringing him back for TROS which created tons of plot holes and ruined the OG characters previous actions. It simply didn't make any sense and I wanted Snoke to be his own character. Killed him off way too soon.

Nobody has really asked that. What if he is The Son? I think a lot of people would love Anakin back in some physical form and not be in flashbacks or in holograms. If they can bring Palpatine back, they can do the same for Anakin. It's not like Hayden is getting tons of calls from studios.
I'm not part of the Hayden member berries club who keeps wanting to see him from all the nostalgia bait. I didn't care for Hayden's portrayal of Anakin from 20 years ago. But if it's a way to bring Hayden's Anakin back in a physical form and not just in WBW or in holos, why not?
We keep coming up with different theories and it's like what happened to guessing who Marrok was. Made people trying to guess who he was look foolish. What if it's a lot simpler than that? What if it's right in front of us like Queen Amidala and Padmé being the same person in TPM?
Check out the SW celebration with Ray and Lars getting interviewed. We got Baylan and Thrawn, two of the best characters in Ahsoka with the most charisma. Lars said something interesting. He said we won't really know what's it all about until the final scene.

What if Shin is Abeloth or is controlled by her and is really the dark entity calling Baylan to go there? Then when Baylan goes to this temple, tomb, or cave, he releases the real version of this evil spirit?
We really don't know much about Shin. She could be possessed by Abeloth or whoever. Be used as an instrument to lure Baylan there. Or perhaps Shin is like Agatha in WandaVision. Pulling the strings all along. "And I killed Sparky, too."
When I first saw Shin, she looked broken and unhinged. She looks eager. I initially thought she would betray and kill Baylan. Perhaps this is still in play? Shin has this face of a killer. I keep comparing Ivanna Sahkno to Elizabeth Olsen because they can portray dark, complicated women.
If Shin isn't accepted by Thrawn and the witches on their ship, where else can she go? So she will probably follow Baylan wherever he's going to unless she takes Ahsoka's offer of joining them. You might see Shin just wandering around Peridea.
I would be pissed if Shin does kill Baylan though unless she was possessed by this demonic entity. It's how I felt with Kylo Ren after killing Han (even though the real killer is Harrison)...
"Han is not complicated enough" according to HF. I've seen Star Wars and Indiana Jones so many times that I've lost count and Indy is not anymore complicated than Han. Same guy, different costumes! Two characters on different sides of the same coin with Harrison's picture on each side.
Going back to Shin, I really hope she's not out to kill Baylan because she's secretly possessed or she's this dark entity in physical form but in a weakened state. The leak says neither Baylan and Shin will be killed this season. Does it end like Shenmue II? In a cave discovering something but then ends abruptly?
Everything is in play. Abeloth, Bendu, a Zeffo, The Son, Anakin, or a possessed or unpossessed Shin. I think Shin is an interesting character. I don't want it to be her so we can explore her background more. She's like a Grey Jedi Rey. But we need to know more of her background because what exactly is she redeeming about herself if she turns to the light?
One of the worst things The Last Jedi did other than the bad characterization of Luke was killing Snoke in the middle of the movie. I wanted to know more about him. Then we discover in TROS that he was a creation by Palpatine. So lame. I really hope they don't make the same mistake with Shin. She has potential to be the most popular female SW character of all-time.

There are cool elements in the legends Thrawn trilogy I’ve read it but I really enjoy what Dave and Jon are giving to us. I’m perfectly fine with Shin Hatti taking over Mara Jade’s role. Now the question is if they will put her with Luke or more likely Ezra. Mara did try to kill Luke when they first met similar to Shin and Ezra.

Something I thought of from The Force Awakens is the fact that Han told Rey, the legends are all true. What if the stories of the legends are like Kenobi telling Luke that Vader betrayed and murdered Anikin Skywalker.: True from a certain point of view?
Just the deeds and heroes were give to Luke, Leia, and Han, and the now children heroes were given the names Solo and Skywalker, because people retelling it knew those heroes last names, and so they gave the young ones the same last names?

The Original Thrawn Trilogy is my head canon sequel trilogy. However, the way Zahn re-spawned Thrawn in the second trilogy was pure genius, and it's canon!
Mara Jade Skywalker is my theory always.
Since Baylan Skoll sent Shin Hati back to Thrawn, her ambitions to seize power could bring her into the Emperor's purview. Where a fiery redhead sets her straight about who gets to be close to the Emperor. Mara Jade continues on as the Emperor's Hand and is brought back into canon. Shin sees the error of her ways and returns to Light side of The Force where she joins the New Jedi Order. Shin trains Jacen and Jaina SKYWALKER. Hey I know what you're thinking, but if the mouse can retcon Ben, we can retcon Jacen and Jaina. Jacen Skywalker is overcome with the dark side of The Force. And having heard the story of how his master barely escaped death at the hands of his mother, he attacks Mara. Jacen becomes one of the Knights of Ren and is confronted by Jaina. Both are killed in the duel that insues. Mara incensed by the loss of her children is swept up by the Dark side and kills Shin Hati. Mara gets caught up with Luuke Skywalker and kills him in a fit of rage. Luke finds Mara in a very dark state but is able to survive her 'I already killed you once I can do it again' attack. Ultimately Mara is defeated by Luke. Luke struggles with the actions he had to take to preserve his own life and this doubt within himself leads to the downfall of his new Jedi Academy. Then 7,8,9 happens.
What I really wish for is just a retcon of 7, 8, and 9 through all this… but I guess.
I'm just happy I got to see Thrawn in live action any expectations for season two became irrelevant for me.

How old do you think Baylan is? Maybe matches the same age as Ray Stevenson in his late-50s? Ahsoka is about 47. This is where the elder defeated the younger. In Star Wars, the teacher usually defeats the student or the younger character. This is what Star Wars teaches. The master usually wins over the apprentice.
Obi-Wan beating Anakin/Vader in ROTS and his 2022 series. It's not just having the higher ground, but figuratively speaking, Obi-Wan held a higher position than Anakin. A Jedi Master, part of the Jedi council, and a general. Obi-Wan had more clout in the social status hierarchy.
We watched Sidious destroy his former apprentice and kill his brother. We see Shin beating up Sabine twice but can't handle Ahsoka. The elder usually wins unless you're 83-years-old like Dooku in ROTS or your name happens to be Qui-Gon Jinn who is starting to become the Sean Bean of Star Wars.
To think Dooku at 80 beat Obi-Wan and Anakin in AOTC is some badass shit from a really old guy. I know Anakin was only 19 but he still lost to an 80-year-old. And Obi-Wan who was about 35 in AOTC since he's about 16 years older than Ani also lost to an old guy in his 80s. They needed Yoda in his late-800s to handle Dooku.

The one time Vader beats Obi-Wan is when Obi-Wan let Vader beat him. And he did it similar to how Star Wars Meg is explaining about Ahsoka. Obi-Wan didn't really need to win that duel in the Death Star to win the fight at the end. You don't always have to win at that particular moment to win at the end.

I don't think Baylan being a general should be overlooked. Ahsoka never held that title. I know Lord Vader can kill General Tarkin by just Force choking him with his mind, but Palpatine gave Tarkin that title because Tarkin is a brilliant man. You don't get hired being a general from only brute strength. So Baylan is a military tactician like Thrawn.
Why is Thrawn still being called Grand Admiral? He should update his title. Palpatine and Vader have been dead for 7 years by this point. Tarkin has been dead for 11 years. He should start calling an Emperor if he's Heir to the Empire. Oh wait, I forgot Palpatine isn't dead. Just going through his 30+ years leave of absence.
I really don't think Baylan's power should be underestimated. He was a general in the Clone Wars the way Obi-Wan and Anakin were. Yes, Anakin was a general. He's at least a decade older than Ahsoka. And it's not like Anakin ever reached his potential. He was only 22 before he turned to Vader and died at 45.
Let's calculate Baylan's age in the Clone Wars. Let's say he's 58 matching Ray's age in Ahsoka. Subtract 30 years (19 + 11). Baylan was only 28 as a general. Perhaps only 25 since the Clone Wars lasted 3 years. He's 6 years older than Ani and 10 years younger than Obi-Wan. Baylan had probably been around the Jedi Temple longer than Ahsoka had.
George Lucas views Star Wars as if you're going to school. You learn from your elders. Baylan winning again shouldn't be surprising given that he's older and held a higher military rank than Ahsoka ever did. Baylan had seen more real battles than Ahsoka considering she left the Jedi Order before Order 66.
The master always schooling the apprentice yet again like Michael Jordan schooling a young 19-year-old Kobe Bryant in the 1998 All-Star Game only for Kobe to drop 55 with 42 in the first half on the Wizards when MJ was 40 in 2003. You don't usually see the kids in Cobra Kai beating up their senseis, do you?

The times the elders lost, Qui-Gon was killed by Maul, they either let them beat them, or in Dooku's case, he was 83. It seems like a miracle he beat Obi-Wan and Anakin at 80. Of course, Sidious didn't need an age excuse when beating Maul. I just recently read Maul is 3 years younger than Obi-Wan. I thought he was older by 10 years. Maul had the higher ground on Obi-Wan and he still lost!
Vader pulled back against Luke at the end of ROTJ. If Luke was not his son, I believe Vader would've killed Luke at the end of TESB. Baylan won again against Ahsoka. Higher ground matters. Higher ground can also mean higher age, military ranking, or clout. More experience usually wins. Baylan might be an equivalent to Obi-Wan whom Ahsoka's master couldn't beat.
I think fans are expecting a Raiders of the Lost Ark ending for Baylan. When the Nazis opened the Ark of the Covenant, they all die. Indy and Marion didn't because they kept their eyes closed. I personally don't want to see this. I prefer Baylan mentioned being dead like how they handled T'Challa.
It would only make Baylan look foolish if see this scene no different than the Nazis looking for the Ark of the Covenant only to die from it. But if we see Abeloth, then I might be okay with it because she's that powerful and seductive. But I think having Abeloth will break the SW universe. She basically represents Satan and Hell. Pain, suffering, and then death. What if it's Palpatine calling Baylan?
Either way, it's going to be bittersweet watching Baylan exit the series.

Thrawn and Shin Hati are in the second and third tiers of my favorite characters with a bunch of Mando and Andor characters. The list is based *mostly* from the live-action. I still prefer Dooku over Thrawn and Shin. I got Qui-Gon's sensei right below him at 11th. Tales of the Jedi gave me a greater appreciation for Dooku.
Ewan McGregor can never be more popular than Hayden Christensen from the SW Gen Z crowd because Ewan can't do that lightsaber move where Hayden can spin it around from his back. But I believe Ewan was the best actor for the entire Prequels followed only by Liam Neeson in Ep 1 and Ian McDiarmid in Ep 3.
I'm aware of the bad publicity Ewan got for leaving his wife and daughters for Mary Elizabeth Winstead, but I'm only regarding his work, not his personal life. The work Ewan has done for Star Wars should be applauded even if his Disney+ series is arguably the worst one. Blame that on Deborah Chow and bad writers.
Obi-Wan truly is a great character in my eyes. Whether Sir Alec Guinness or Ewan McGregor, either version is great. Sir Alec is the better actor while Ewan has portrayed Obi-Wan more and longer. You're winning with either version of Obi-Wan. Such a unique name too. Surprised nobody calls their sons with that name.
People keep saying Obi-Wan only beat Anakin because he had the higher ground. What's Maul's excuse in TPM? What's Vader's excuse after Obi-Wan was buried in rocks? General Kenobi needs to be appreciated. He did ditch Luke too in the Death Star like Baylan did to Shin only to die for a greater purpose.

What if Mara Jade was half Shin Hati and half Ahsoka? Shin getting the redemptive ark and Ahsoka getting the romantic arc. When she left Luke and Grogu during that episode of Book of Boba Fett he asked if he would see her again and there was a little longing in his voice. He wanted to see her again. And the way she said "perhaps" could suggest a small playful flirtation. Of course the difficulty becomes what happens to her during the sequel trilogy, but that would be a difficulty anyways. On the other hand, if Ben killed her along with the students, it would make Luke's deep depression make a lot more sense.

I got the 20th Anniversary edition of Heir to the Empire a few years ago & I really have to read it. Most of my collection is all canon. I’m finally almost done with Phase 2 of the High Republic since Phase 3 begins next month with The Eye of Darkness. Taking place right after the events of The Fallen Star.
I just hope Ahsoka says I know a guy who can help us and Luke shows up.

We might be intrigued and liking Shin Hati right now. But that's because she's enigmatic similar to how I love the very mysterious The Armorer.
What if we do explore more about Shin and we end up finding out she's a Wanda ripoff? Wanda was intriguing too. I never forgot seeing her in the mid end credits of Captain America: The Winter Soldier and feeling so intrigued by her. For years, Wanda was living up to her hype. She was great in Age of Ultron, Civil War, Infinity War, and Endgame. She nearly killed "2014" Thanos in Endgame.
Wanda was highly anticipated by me because Aaron and Liz would star as a married couple in Godzilla (2014) just a few months after The Winter Soldier came out. I would read about how powerful Scarlet Witch was online. A year before that, Liz was in the Spike Lee version of Oldboy with Josh Brolin. I knew the Olsen twins' younger sister was on the come up.
Then what happened when Liz finally got her own Disney+ MCU series 7 years after her first appearance as Wanda and when she finally became the Scarlet Witch? People started hating her. She enslaved an entire community because she needed therapy. She went heel in Doctor Strange 2 to find her fake children. The longer it can go, the worse it can get. We saw it with Game of Thrones after Season 6.
Listen, I like Shin too but I've seen many times seeing a very interesting character only for their story to no longer hold our attention as time goes by. Check IMDb. Black Widow got a low score and Natasha was popular prior to her death in Endgame. I see polls picking Man of Steel over Wonder Woman (2017). And people want WW to be recast while they won't for Henry Cavill. Fans tired of Gal already?
Each time a cool character comes out, fans grow tired of them, especially from male fans. Daenerys Targaryen is a perfect example. Great first season by Emilia Clarke although I don't find her to be a strong actress. Then writers completely ruined her by S8. And she's supposed to be the greatest Targaryen to ever live. She's the equivalent to Anakin being the Chosen One. Freed slaves but ended up using them for her military.
Very few ever live up to their initial hype. It happens more often than you realize. Remember how cool seeing images of Darth Maul and Kylo Ren were prior to TPM and TFA coming out? Remember seeing Kylo's crossed lightsaber and his Vader+Revan inspired helmet? The moment he took off his helmet, the illusion was gone. The moment Obi-Wan split Maul in half, Maul with his one scene of dialogue was no longer that cool.
People defend Kylo Ren saying he's a complicated character. And perhaps seeing him unmasked is just shallowness from my part. But the thing is, you can still be complex and still not be likable. Jaime Lannister was a complicated character and he became likable by GOT S3 saving Brienne from a gang rape. Now I love Adam Driver. He's a fantastic actor. But I just didn't like his Kylo Ren. Complicated? Sure. Likable? Not really.
For all we know, Shin's previous life was not much different than Wanda's. Lots of emotional pain losing people in her life. Wanda saw her parents killed by a bomb from Stark Industries. I want Shin to be awesome but I've seen it time and time again when fans turn on a character after a while. Rey was interesting to me after The Force Awakens. By The Last Jedi, I stopped giving a shit about her and her FaceTime Force calls with a shirt-less Kylo Ren.
At least Baylan goes out never feeling overexposed to us. Never feeling tiresome. It's like Heath Ledger's Joker. Let's say Heath was still alive today and he was featured in The Dark Knight Rises. And say it wasn't as good as TDK. We may view Heath and his Joker a little less. It's Mando S3 tarnishing the series a bit because it wasn't as good as S1 and S2.
Think Kurt Cobain. He died at age 27. If let's say he's still alive today at 56, would people view Nirvana as highly now than if he didn't die in 1994? Same with Tupac or Biggie. Everything in life can get tiresome. Shin may get tiresome. They die younger, they automatically become immortal like James Dean. Most people will live long enough to tarnish their legacy. All it took for Will Smith was a slap.
Disney tried exploring Han Solo's past in 2018 and we realized Han's past really wasn't interesting. Han is a great character but it doesn't mean he has an interesting story to tell. Same thing with the Obi-Wan series. We saw too much Reva and Obi-Wan being a broken man for a decade trying to babysit Leia most of the time. The Book of Boba Fett, same thing. Boba's life is not that interesting.
Shin's story can be really good but it can turn really bad in a hurry. Just be cautious knowing we have popular Star Wars characters having their own movie or TV series only to realize they're not that interesting. They're called supporting characters for a reason. They're not supposed to star in them. There's been a few *recent* exceptions....

The thrawn trilogy was a really good storyline. I still have the books here. Hope to see more of this integrated in Ahsoka S2.
Brilliant, I remember after seeing the original trilogy re release in the 90s, the first time I really watched them all and my love for those movies grew. There was a Han Solo trilogy of books which for me was the ultimate prequel to the OG trilogy, then the hier to the empire trilogy. It was complete, and for me better than the prequel and sequel movies.
What I want is more Anakin...and Zeb. We only got a glimpse of him...Karbast!
