This makes me nostalgic about patrolling during the 2003 Invasion of Iraq except that I never served in any branch of military ever and was about 4 years old at the time.
Sometimes I wonder why so many people why so many people are motivated to join the military from watching this. It's certainly does not sugarcoat war yet it is arguably more effective at inspiring people than most propaganda pieces. Then I realize that it IS the realistic depiction of war that makes it so appealing. There is something about war that just entices us, regardless of the stress, bloodshed, and disillusionment we know exists. That is why humans will never stop waging war. It is a primal part of our nature.
Legit the one "show" that I sincerely wish I could experience for the first time, just one more time. David Simon and his crew did one hell of a bang up job on this one. Right in the fuckin feels.
anyother wars tv series : Hollywood action scenes and epic explosion effects but no one wanna rewatch generation kill: driving a Hummer, complaining to the sir, fire few bullets and taking a nap everyone love it and never gets old
Because generation kill shows the reality of the war and its loved by everyone, because even tho it dosent have much actions, the characters are the best fucking thing to ever exist, like Ray is just the best shit ever
The song is more fitting than first glance would have you believe. Throughout history it has been young men with little to lose that have won wars... you might call them teenage dirtbags...
I'm just finishing my tour of Afghanistan in a few weeks and when the chorus of Teenage Dirtbag started playing, I became a little sad with nostalgia reflecting on my experiences here. Whilst it really hasn't been a combat tour, there's a mild excitement being here with people you've never met but made so many great interpersonal relations with, working together with specific goals.

I dont really care about the actions, the characters are all what's important

The teenage dirtbag part is so haunting

How good the ending (of Generatioj Kill) is, that song killed the buzz that Teenage Dirtbag created
