Porsche 911 997 BRAKE JOB DIY

- Brake Maintenance on the Porsche 997 is a DIY job any one can do at home. You do want to source quality parts first, which is subject to a lot of varying options if you read the Porsche forums. Once you get the parts you are happy with installing them is a breeze! Well not really there are some things to look out for. The bolt that secures the brake line to the wheel carrier can break very easy so be mindful of that. Other than that if you have changed Brembo type brakes on other vehicles this is much of the same procedure. Good luck and happy wrenching.

like your wheels, ps the screws that secure your rotors are called countersunk, keep the vids coming,
Thank you!
Top video! Definitely saving it for later on! Well done man!
Awesome! Thank you!
Nice job. Trying to work up the courage to work on my 2008 997 C4S
You can do it! just take your time and make sure you have all your parts and tools ready.
@KRT nice video putting together the procedure to do the brakes. While I was watching, I was asking myself why you did not take advantage or having full access and clean the guards, calipers, lines etc. However I can see that you did the replacement after work at night so maybe not too much time to spare cleaning the brakes. Maybe next time. In my case I already purchased the rotors and pads, but reading some posts (and 997’s maintenance manual), Porsche recommends to replace also the “hardware” (pins, caliper bolts, pads dampeners, etc). But overall a nice explanation. Thanks! (BTW, you did finish the installation, Auto Amateur couldn’t say the same ;-). Be proud! Haha. (Just kidding)
Sorry for the late reply, best practices is to follow the Porsche recommendations for sure. Have I ever had or seen anyone have issues reusing pins and bolts? No. I didn’t clean everything because I daily drove my 997 and everything would’ve been dirty again in a few days. I’m glad you found this video helpful! Thank you.
I like your videos. I have a 2007 997 and I just refurbished my center console. That might be a good idea for a future video. Cheers!
Great idea! Probably something we will do in the future. Thanks for watching.
Nice work!!!
Thanks! and Thank you for watching.
Yes the screw breaks very easy. 😂
Yes comically easy. I wonder what the thought process behind it was.
Good video. What’s the mask for?
512 TXS I just put it on for brake dust.
KRT LYFE Gotcha. I thought perhaps there was a strong smell like brake cleaner.
you don't really need a mask on a Porsche but you definitely need one on a Toyota, you don't want Corolla-Virus, it's nasty.
What happened with the w202 mercedes 😩, I’d like more videos about it
Matias Maldonado that project has been the project from hell 😫 so it has been put on hold for a multitude of reasons
where did you find the brake line retainer bolt? I broke mine the same way as you have mentioned in the video. thanks
I got a replacement from the Stealership.
Brother, I have a question please, are all of the bolts on a oem wheels same size? Or they are different from front and the back?
On mine they are the same all the way around.
Could you tell us what parts you used? It’s rather overwhelming how many options are out there.
I sourced my parts from Baker Auto a local Euro specialist.
THank you! I’m in NEGA so I’ll look them up.
@@starbridges7887 awesome, I’ve been buying parts from them for almost 20 years now. Great customer service ad they stand behind the parts they sell.
I see you invested in that impact screwdriver. I want one of those drills. What are the specs of a decent one?
Kevin Frost we have the link to the one I have in the description! Thanks for watching
Great video guys. So glad you are keeping the 911. Check me on Instagram I have done the roof box and steering wheel. @porscheamateur
Thank you 👍🏽
