For my dadu tabla meant Hirubabu, Hirubabu and Hirubabu. Pandit Hirubabu Is my dadaguru. My grandfather was his disciple till his last days. From the very childhood of my learning tabla the two names in my house I have grown up with are pandit Hirubabu and Ustad Ahmed Jaan Thirakawa Khan Sahab. This man brought real khandani tabla Baaj in Bengal and Kolkata. He acted as a panacea for all tabla players of today. I am speechless Shrikant. This is the gem which will be with me for the rest of my life . God bless u my friend. I have a request. Please kindly upload about a hidden gem. One of the legendary maestro's of tabla. Pandit Kanai Dutta ji. very little is also available about this legend.

Srikant babu You made my grandfathers day. My grandfather's uncle Sree Baroda Kanta Mullick studied tabla under Hirubabu for 30 years, who then taught my grandfather. My grandfather, who was brought up by his uncle(father was killed during partition) still reminissesabout concerts of Hirubabu and Montubabu. Much appreciated 🙏🙏

Chordadu(Hiru Ganguly) was my dad's maternal uncle. I was just 3 years old and rare glimpes in my memory, he used to scold when we used to slip on the windows where he used to practise. I remember peeping into his rooms during our kumir danga plays.
