      @atwaterpub Před 6 lety

      The government ALWAYS "forces it." THAT is what governments do -- "force the issue." Nevertheless, we stray from the main point which really is the cold hearted disregard that almost all Americans have for their neighbors, coworkers, and family. We are so embedded in the social network that we do not see it as extreme in comparison to most human social groups at most times in history.

      Actually, Bernie's proposals are not a lot different then the corporate tax rates that were under John F Kennedy, Johnson and Nixon. Koch brothers study found that Medicare for All is cheaper than our current system.

    If anything, Bernie Sanders understates our problems. Six of the largest financial institutions in this country have assets equivalent-assets of about $10 trillion. That's the equivalent to about 60 percent of the GDP of the United States. You have a handful of huge financial institutions that have enormous economic clout. They issue a significant amount of the mortgages in this country and the credit cards in this country. I remember when a savings account actually paid you interest on your money.
    Wall Street has is a business model which says, "We really don’t care about small and medium-sized businesses. They make huge amounts of money in highly dangerous and speculative activities. That's exactly what led us to the Wall Street crash of 2008, which created the worst economic downturn since the Great Recession. I personally believe that the business model of Wall Street is fraud. ... On top of that, Bankruptcies resulting from unpaid medical bills will affect nearly 2 million people this year-making health care the No. 1 cause of such filings.

All of the old Soviet block countries are democracies with free market economy's. Poland and the Czech Republic are a few examples. Look at socialist countries like Venezuela bankrupt. I believe you are misinformed. Also the US economy is booming. We have the lowest unemployment rate in 45 years. I think you just dislike Americans and also President Trump which doesn't bother me in the slightest. The USA since after World War 2 has been the most generous country ever. @@whyamimrpink78 And Bernie is less socialist than you think. Like Norway, he supports Democratic Socialism, which is not actual socialism. And, just to throw this out there, actual socialism is also probably a lot less 'socialist' than you think, at least compared to what you probably think socialism is.
      The only thing that socialism means is workers own the means of production, like credit unions or worker co-ops. That's all socialism is and it has given us minimum wage, labor rights, and the removal of child labor. It is not communism, though it is often considered a pathway to communism. Socialism is not "when the government does stuff." It isn't government spending or else America would be the most socialist country in the world - look at our military spending! Socialism has almost nothing to do with the government.
      Back to Norway and Bernie, Democratic Socialism does not advocate for the removal of capitalism. It advocates for capitalism that is balanced by from democratically decided safety nets, such as universal healthcare. That way people feel safer investing and spending money. By way of the money multiplier effect, that spending eventually makes up for the costs of providing such things as that universal healthcare. This is what Bernie supports and it could be highly successful in America if implemented as it is in Nordic countries.
