Akumajou Dracula (X68000) - No Death Walkthrough

  • A full walkthrough of one of the best games in Castlevania series. It was released on Sharp X68000 and later on PS1 as CV: Chronicles (original version was also included along with a remake).
The game is very hard. Mainly because enemies begin to give 4 points damage very early - on third stage of eight. While there is a herb item that can heal some damage, it is very rare and takes insane amount of hearts for a single use so it is much better to take a weapon instead of it - like axe or cross.
If you are interested in certain stages, here they are:
    1:28 - Stage 1.
    5:14 - Stage 2.
9:41 - Stage 3. This stage is one of the hardest. While the beginning is not too difficult, ice floor in the last part of this level gives many problems.
    15:30 - Stage 4.
20:45 - Stage 5. Probably the most difficult level in this game. And to make things even worse, the boss here is very fast and its attacks are mostly random.
26:40 - Stage 6. Nothing too hard. But do NOT approach boss while you have any hearts.
32:10 - Stage 7. Very long stage, yet it is not very cruel to player. A good place to calm down a little before the final battle.
40:12 - Stage 8. Hard. The only healing item on the whole stage is hidden just before its most dangerous part. Also, Dracula is a very difficult boss and his second form can easily corner you - this almost certainly means quick and painful death.

Easily the absolute greatest Castlevania game. The 'Metroidvania' style games tend to be very messy, especially Symphony of the Night. That game required a stream of logic at times that was just ridiculous. And Super Castlevania IV broke the design laws the game had in place by giving more player control. No other game in the series is this refined and utterly perfect! Thanks for the upload, and great job! :D

At 29:23, there's a joke of a turkey leg among those blocks to the left. When whipped, it will fall down to the lower level, re-spawning all the enemies there as you drop down in a hurry to collect it before it disappears. Even when I need it, I never even bother... I hate that room in general - nothing but flying enemies and stairs, everyone's favorite cocktail in CV.

I don't mean the snes version, which is shit, as is the aforementioned console unlike the SFC it is based on. The original is the glorious uncensored gory one, but it along with Seal of the Curse on FDS (the better version of Simon's Quest) are in dire need of fan translations for English speakers like with Devil's Castle Legend (Dracula's Curse) and the PSP versions of the two Dracula X games including the remake they are part of.

I call it "Super Akumajou Dracula" because just reusing the title of the original game gets confusing, especially as Konami also did that not just for the Sharp port here, but the MSX2 one and even the N64 game, which isn't even a port of the first one.
