Hi from the uk you make it look so easy just got a black badge for front of my gti do you have to when putting the new badge back on the grill have to move the clips has you did when you took the front emblem off or just line it up and twist it back on ,, thanks
Trying to do the same with mine, what would be the best to try and get the black backing of the GTI badge to not be painted red, I’m trying masking tape but it’s proving to be difficult.
Hey From New York I just got this exact grill for my TDI to do a facelift but the emblem seems to be huge compared to this one. I’m not sure what size to buy. My old one is about five and one 8 inches and the hole for the new one seems to be about 4 inches if you can help in anyway appreciated.
It is definitely easy to break the little clips but because there are so many it is fine if you do. All you have to do is take a small flathead screwdriver and pry around the edges of the rear emblem and it will pop out.

Can you show how to disassemble rear emblem? I want to wrap but im not sure would i broke something?

How big is the GTI badge? I replaced my OEM chrome grill with a GTI grill and the chrome badge is too big. I'm wondering if the GTI badge is smaller.

Ordered one on ebay that was the right size. The item is no longer available, but I confirmed it was 125mm before I ordered.

Without having access to the clips behind the badge I don't think you could get it off.
In some cases you can just turn 30 degrees anti clockwise and it should come out
