- From a Gene Autry movie -Git Along little Doggies 1937
The Cabin Kids began appearing on screen in 1935 as a "musical ensemble" in features, Our Gang comedy shorts and a series of musical shorts in which they headlined. This "Song Hit Story" features performances by The Cabin Kids, The Pope Sisters and The Six Mountain Melodeers. Scheduled entertainment for a posh dinner party is delayed, so the help and a hillbilly orchestra put on impromptu performances. The five Cabin Kids perform "Sweet Sue," "This Little Piggy" and "Workin' For the Lord." Earle W. Hammons founded Educational Films Corporation of America in 1919 for the purpose of producing educational films for schools. When that didn't work out, Hammons segued into comedy and musical theatrical shorts instead, but retained the original company name. - Hudba

I like this. Big fan of positive kids. And like the other comment said, i love when the other comment said, i liked when the performed 'dinah' nice harmony. As for the young one. It could be ADD but but i think it's possible that he just real young and cant keep still.
They’re sooo adorable and so good!! 🥺🥺
So the one kid was just there for cuteness in this clip
Big fan since they sang "Dinah" in a Rascals film. Too bad the little guy has fleas in this clip. Thanks for the post.
Great bit of history.
he has Petes fleas though
That Rascals short was 'Beginner's Luck', which, lest you forget, introduced the inimitable Carl Switzer....Alfalfa to you.
Can anyone tell me whatever happened to the Cabin kids? I know about the lil rascals and all but I am curious about this group of talented kids. I am afraid to assume that they were wept under the rug as so many were doing this time. Thank you for posting the clips you have posted!
I'd love to hear about them too!!!
Man Fred still had ringworm here or what
I think he was told to do that. He does this in just about every video they made - I suspect the idea was that (white) viewers would say 'Hey, look at the funny little black kid who doesn't wash". Desperately unfunny in today's climate.
...and his brother Harold.
Does anyone know if these kids had further careers in film or music as they got older?
The girls had an act as sisters called the hall sisters but I think they only had a few songs
I would love to find a video of a little boy who looks like a very young Stimie or the little Cabin Kid boy dancing in a children's bar serving milk. He's in a Jib Jab birthday card called Happy Hour Baby. He's SOOOOOO cute! Any ideas?
i'm trying to find it too!...my husband HAS to see it...we're here in england (his home) and he's never witnessed the little rascals at all!...imagine that!...time to educate him...or should i say, 'edumacate him'...lmao
I think the little boy is purely exhibiting a 1930s version of undiagnosed and unheard of case of ADD at it's finest! LOL!! I love them! Epsecially the Old MacDonald song!
Come on people. Anyone who has ever seen kids in a school play would have seen the same type of behavior. If we've going to get mad, let's get mad over real issues as schools graduating illiterates.
Me agree.
All these comments about the youngest little boy with ADD or perhaps even vermin. Its obvious he was instructed to scratch himself and appear distracted. I never found it cute or funny just off putting and sort of sad.
He wasn't instructed to scratch himself at all, I did a little research and found out that he had small pox at that time and that was what made him itchy on stage then
@@Chris-zl5cq Smallpox??? That can be fatal. No way. If you watch other Cabin Kids videos, he does this EVERY time. He was instructed to do it.
He didn’t have smallpox. In Beginners luck, he was getting over a case of ringworm and was scratching. Appears that people thought that was funny so they had him do it in all their other films while they sang.
