Another memorable game for me because it was the 1st time the Philippines won the championship here and as a bonus I got the MVP as well.

We matched up well against Sokor and we lost in a very slim 1 pt loss in the Asian Games that year when we won the bronze. Pero kayang kaya naman tlg sila in fact we won the FIBA Asia in 1985-86 too.

I was in high school at the time and watched this game at the University of Guam.
Sayang! If the Philippine team that played in 1985 FIBA Asian Championships coached by Ron Jacobs played in the World Championships, they could've sent schock waves in the basketballworld during that time. Who knows, i think that team composed of Samboy Lim, Allan Caidic, Franz Pumaren with naturalized players like Chip Engelland, Jeff Moore and Dennis Still could've reached the top 10 in the world . With the way they played against top select US NCAA players in the 1985 Jones Cup, they could easily reached the quarterfinals of the world cup.
It’d be nice to see the game between Philippines and Croatia. They played against Petrovic and Kukoc.

NCC was a brain-child of Danding Cojuangco, a known Marcos crony. The BAP wanted to score political points with the new Aquino administration so they deliberately did not send the national team.

Idol Coach Allan, ok lang po ba magsuggest ako. Baka pwede naman po pakilagay sa description yung line-up ng team natin with their jersey numbers para mas madali po maidentify mga players. Kasi po yung ibang may edad na manunuod ay medyo malabo na mata. Also, para sa mga kabataan na di masyado familiar sa mga players ay makilala rin nila mga nauna sa kanila. Katulad ko po si #13 di ko po kilala halos mangalahati na ako sa panonood ng video. Kasi nyang 1986 ay 3 years old pa lang po ako nyan.. Suggestion lang po idol coach. Dito makikita na nag transition yung ncc program, puro amatuer pa ito, ang lahat ng player dito amateur college players, lahat naging PBA superstars, dapat kasi mag age service ang national team, 16 to 25 years old, after 25, graduate na sa national team, diretso na sa PBA, ngayon depende nasa player kung sasali pa sya national team. Ang magiging problem dyan is yung college team, kaya dapat well supported ng SBP yung player na mapipili. At priority nya dapat ang national team.
