Nice to see the guys enjoying the groove and each other. The crowd dances:Blakey's Jazz for the People! Golson:"Write another one?? Man, I've written everything but a march!" Blakey:"Then write a march, Bro".
This is a truly grate performance. Love seeing the Japanese people really appreciating the music. This has become one of my favorites lately. Have the vinyl albumn, the music is so beautiful and clear and sounds like you are right there in the audience. Art Blakely and the Jazz Messengers took their Art to a very High Level and we should really support this type of Art that in which we see our fellow man taking his fellow Human Beings to a higher level.

No joke. The Messengers have had a bunch of trombone players: Curtis Fuller, Julian Priester, Steve Turre, Robin Eubanks, Steve Davis. I'm sure I'm forgetting a couple of guys, too. Watching some of the other late 80s Messengers videos here on the 'Tube, Robin's kicking ass--his solos are more adventurous than some of the other guys'.
This tune is, as my son says, " the bomb diggety " the players are sublime plus the crowd ! And all that in front of Mount Fuji ! Damn !!
crowd knows this is dance music! Can't believe this is 30 years old.
Why? People in the past KNEW how to dance. 😊
I learned the fun of playing solo by alto saxphone from this Mr. Bobby Watson enjoyable solo when I was in university.

Wonderful ! Great Art Blakey !
The Jazz Messengers set the standard for small jazz bands.
me too!
Bobby Watson ....... Time Will Tell Saw him solo in Liverpool with small UK band way back...great guy....
Robin looks at Bobby after the chorus kind a: "can i?" Bobby stops: "oh! you wanna start - of course go ahead". Then you know what happens... blooooow
1:20 feeling the groove.
RIP Mulgrew Miller
grande Robin Eubanks trombone
I love this .....
super awesome- thanks for post :)
our school's jazz band is playing a variation of this for a competition.
Great spirit-very alive!
👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Whoah. Eubanks quotes Clifford Brown's original Joy Spring solo at 1:30. Hip stuff.
the part of the solo he is quoting from is around 2:30 of the Joy Spring that appears on "Clifford Brown and Max Roach."
Absolute muppets putting up adverts while Bobby's tearing the place down

The title of the albumn I'm talking about is: Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers "Blues March."
Sorry, that's the wrong albumn title. The title is "Moanin."
Art said he could do anything he wanted in his family as he was the baby boy.
in an interview about John Coltrane!!
Bobby Watson is hot!
QUI VIEN A CAUSE DE SON PROFDE MUSIQUE
La Blues March . Art Blakey & The Jazz Messenger.
Bobby Watson GREAT solo
I knew this song was better with a trombone.
I bet that Lou Rawls and Stanley show was 🔥
Love Bobby he was dynamite .
🌼💛🌱😀
... Messengers....
toshiko odani Wardell gray
Japanese people know class when they see it... Every Afro American jazz artist who visted was treated like royalty
The Japanese know what's up!!!!!

Why a trombone? Is this a joke to them?
